I’m so grateful and fortunate to have grown up out in the country, on the farm! People must think I’m crazy when they see me at the store picking out fruits and veggies, smelling, feeling, squeezing, looking, spending sometimes a couple of minutes to pick something out or not! There are certain things that I will never buy in the store, peaches, tomatoes, etc. I feel sorry for the younger generations that will never know what a perfectly ripe peach or strawberry tastes like.
I don't shop a lot of produce but I used too in my youth. At first produce was laid out on tables and open. You could pick, choose and sort. Later, in the 70's, they began putting stuff in plastic trays with saran. There was no way to check the stuff. I used to tear all the trays open and sort until I had a good package then let the produce guy wrap it again. They hated me.
Your reaction to the "mango" hot Doritos was perfection. Ha! I admit to be guilty of buying the new stuff just to see how strange it tastes. I bought the "mango" hot Doritos, and definitely not a mango flavor. 😬 😂 Cheers!
This is weird that I watch this tonight as I have been on a Bill Break. Binge, then break.... I will get 3 or 4 shows behind and then watch them all at one go. Anyway, I ground up chia seeds in the grinder and tossed the greenbeans in them, then sautéed them in a little butter in cast iron skillet to make a crispy coating. The kids really liked them. I believe that garlic powder and thyme is in order for next try.
I think those Mango Doritos are intended for middle school kids that drink Mountain Dew with 70+ grams of sugar per can all day. They dont know what a mango off a tree tastes like anyway.
There are certain types of artificial flavors that are so foreign to my taste buds they taste like chemicals. Maybe it works for some people, but to me they are awful.
