Me too. Even before I started working with a microbiome diet I always had a taste for mixed colors and types on my plate. This explains why I favored Thai or Vietnamese cooking. It is a delight to the eyes.

My brother, a bachelor, ate extensively at KFC. Ultimately had colon cancer and had a section cut out. I met his oncologist later and he ask about him, I said he had a Kentucky Fried colon, but he’s OK now
Chebby has had some pretty major quality issues for a while. I think my old truck went through... 13 transmissions? 4L60e is notorious. I went and got a Toyota after that. Waiting on them making an electric model, or i may convert this one. Customer service is a terrible job. The metrics are very difficult to keep up with while giving good service. Huge turnover, terrible pay.
So my cell phone stopped charging. Tried everything including a new battery. Nothing worked. In fact, having it on the charger depleted it. Got down to 40% so I thought I'd better save that charge for the next day. (Ordered a new phone). I always put it in an old microwave at night as a faraday cage. Next morning it was at THREE %. So I put it on the charger and PRAYED it would charge a bit. Drained it down to zero. Well, I thought that was it and gotta wait for the new phone to arrive. Next day, again spending the night in the faraday cage at Zero, I turned it on for sh*ts and giggles and it showed EIGHTY % charge. GO FIGURE.
There is the possibility that your solar system is having syncing problems when connecting to the grid. Micro misalignments might send glitches to the computer chips causing failures. The rain gage - IDK
The weather station is wireless but off line. The rain funnel had crud in it but took a while to come back. The laptop is possible. Sometimes when the grid fails things in the house have issues in the transition.
Sadly my favorite type doesn't want to grow in Hawaii. The French came up with a bean years back called Fortex. It is the finest quality of any bean I've ever grown. Look for it, you won't be disappointed.

my fridge does that for some unknown reason , it blows the house fuse , then i have to shut power for bout 15 mins , then power everything back on and it purrs like a kitten and keeps the ole beer cold. Now , my 2006 corolla is possessed with the check engine light , its goes on and off
One of my trades is IT and my main computer is 12 years old. Sometimes it's just bricked, the BIOS tries to reflash itself and corrupts itself after power outages. Patience and a half dozen reboots fixes it. Good as new. Not related to tech, well.. took the mask off this morning and said what I really thought to people around me, big oops. Keeping that thing wears on ya, yknow? I suppose the point is that oftentimes these things require profound buckets of patience.
We are still recording deaths and hospitalizations from covid in Hawaii. Two friends of mine had it. The latest "Flirt" variant is more like an intense head cold.

This is what gets me about vegetarians! I’m not so sure about intelligence or intelligence vs adaptation and evolution. However, it’s indubitable that plants are sentient. I don’t think anyone with an IQ over 90 would argue that, yet the vegetarians turn a blind eye to that fact. Now I have a citrus that never fruited or flowered in ten years. I went out and told it I was going to cut it down. Within months it flowered! Then there are the trees in the forest that share water through their root systems. One tree two hundred yards away thats taking up water somehow knows that its neighbor needs the water more than it does, so it limits its uptake. I’m not sure if that’s intelligent communication or hormones or something else, but I would lean towards intelligence. We humans are far too arrogant in thinking that we are the be all end all, and that everything else on the planet is brain dead.
Most of us live in insulated cocoons of belief systems that protect us from facing the reality. Life, eats life to make life. Case closed, if you got trouble with eating a living thing then try eating rocks! Although they might be alive too, just move real slow. I for one, enjoy my food still wiggling. A dead oyster can kill you.

Grey-C for prez. I'm not out here saying I like one candidate. I just can't stand the other. This is a great time to focus on the garden and making progress in life. I haven't watched the debate, and won't be. I did just have a lovely handful of fresh lettuce from the garden to help balance the biome impact of a meat heavy northern diet. This country is mad, and how I stay sane is by looking inward and focusing on my own goals. I recommend it to anybody out there who can't stand it. History goes in cycles.

Pineapple turn into vodka right on the stump when I'm late at picking. The local white pineapple is better than most for fermentation. It is lower in acid and higher in sugar than the yellows. Resulting in a higher alcohol content.
During one of the Democratic Party debates in 2020, Biden accused Bernie of having 7 PACs. As he proceeded to list them he got stuck on number 3 and Bernie broke in AND LET HIM OFF THE HOOK. I remember concrete bomb shelters on display at the Veterans Memorial building in SLO! Like the Soviets even knew where it was. Hell, most Americans don’t know where it is. However, Kennedy and Khrushchev negotiated their way out of a nuclear war. Further, there began talks on test ban treaties, and a dialogue with the Soviets to reduce tensions between our two nations. Sure he was a womanizer and he had character flaws, but his governmental policies regarding civil rights and foreign policy was essentially correct.

I actually have trees and plants on my property planted by LB here in Northern California. I also love your take on plant intelligence. I have always felt there is more to life intelligence than we perceived as only one arrogant specie's perspective, and now finally there is more coming forward that is proving this. A quote a student gave me that made me laugh: "What if, in reality, plants are actually farming us? By feeding us and giving us oxygen daily, knowing we will eventually decompose so they can then consume us?"

It's so hard for those of us that grew up getting great service and giving great service all our adult lives. You'd be surprised how many businesses don't do the right thing ... I'm concerned about the elec cars. They're expensive, repairs and replacing batteries is beyond what most of us grew up spending for vehicles. They haven't been tested long enough to know what they're going to cost us long-term. Honestly, I don't trust any car manufacturers anymore so I'm not going to trust anything other than what I've been indoctrinated to trust! Driving a vehicle with 130,000 - no problems - runs great! Praying it's my last car 🙏
I serviced electric forklifts for years. They were so much simpler and had less break downs than the propane ones. I use to wonder why we didn't use this technology in cars. The size of the old batteries was the main issue, big and heavy. The new generation batteries have now made EV possible. Bad parts in cars cross the board, gas, EV, most makers. I have no intention of changing batteries in my EV. The warrantee was for 8 years. The car will be gone in 5 or 6. In the mean time the cost of maintaining my gas car is considerably higher than the EV. The EV has very few moving parts. Other than defective parts from Chevy, the only maintenance on the Bolt since 2019 has been windshield squirt fluid and air in the tires. Nothing else has required attention in 5 years. This fact is something non-EV owners are not familiar with. Petrol car maintenance is considerable and if you skip it the car fails. Aloha

It's interesting you mention Burbank and the yogi he used to hang with. In the book "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahansa Yogananda, he talks about his meeting with Burbank and hints at plant intelligence. We are but the point of a needle on the tower of evolution, by no means the "most intelligent". Hopi-land is totally moonscape, and extinct volcanoes. As barren as possible. I spent many years of my life at the edge of Navajoland. Farming and gardening there is an extreme sport, and the Dineh and Hopi are the masters of it. We used to use several of the techniques you described farming on the Mesa. Anywhere at the bottom of a hill was the place to do it. Corn nixtamalized with juniper ash, Dineh and Hopi beans, and hard desert adapted squash give a good enough diet to live on, combine that with sheep and whatever other scraps and it's a simple but viable diet. I'm at the edge of a pretty rough clearcut and I've noticed the native orchids are popping off like crazy in our little patch of forest. We wont be wrecking our forest any more than necessary to keep it healthy. They demand it! All the garden plants notify us when they need watering too. I could swear they have a bit of a telepathic power. They definitely let you know when they're not happy.

I had a neighbor in SLO that had an avocado tree that wouldn’t set fruit. My mother said the tree was too comfortable and needed some tough love. With the neighbor’s consent she beat up the tree with a baseball bat. Don’t know if this worked (could have been another tree in the area to provide cross pollination) but the tree began to produce fruit.
Pollination is an issue with avocado in CA. On the other hand, cutting, bending or beating branches has long been used to build carbohydrate for flowering.
Unless humans can invent a highly contagious behavior modifying virus to bring everyone to a higher emotional quotient, we are doomed. We are not stupid apes. The issue is life has always been tough so our primal brain has not evolved compassion. We are smart enough to design complex weapons, but those who control the weapons are narcissistic, territorial, and distrustful like our ancient ancestors. The bad traits helped our ancestors survive. But they will cause the end of our species as well. It will take something unprecedented such as the idea I mentioned to change our current trajectory.

I have no belief systems. My judgement tends to remain unclouded because I believe nothing. Logic dictates the days of a royal kingdom are over unless the world completely falls back to the stone age. For now, real estate goes to the highest bidder or the guy with the biggest gun. There are no other out comes no matter how much people wish for them.
Doesn’t the Bible say that God is the Alpha & Omega, the beginning & the end? Doesn’t it also say He is a Jealous God? Doesn’t it say he made man in His likeness?….. Is he good and evil? What is he Jealous of ???….. now this is just MHO- he is a leader of a particular race of aliens, who is jealous of another race or races, and he is a warring god. Thus we are a warring people since he created us in his likeness. @@GreenGardenGuy1 lol! I get it, I went to Catholic school for first and second grades, then spent every Sunday with my grandmother in church until I was around 15. Around 40 yr. old I Became Buddhist. A few years back I saw holes in that doctrine too. Religion just isn’t able to capture the perfect doctrine. I don’t think there is one. It can be both useful and harmful. But I really believe that most religions are a recording of alien activities and interactions. Their interpretation was put forth with the intelligence and tools they had at the time. And how much has been changed though re-writing, how much information has been lost, and how much do we still not know. 🤷♂️
I still use the term on occasion because it is social convention. If I actually came out and said what I really think, most of you would run from the channel and never come back. I temper my messages because they tend to be off center to the main stream of society.

Excellent video Bill. Please consider making a video about the upcoming debate. Perhaps you can do a before video where you talk about your expectations and then you can do an after video discussing how you feel about it. I expect Trump to chicken out and make up lies about how the game was rigged. If he actually goes through with it I expect he will not be able to hold himself together under the circumstances. If we all get lucky he will have a stroke from the pressure and leave on a stretcher.

Aloha from the BI. Up here in Paauilo Mauka. We stay cooler being at 2k ft. My grandparents had a home just off Banyan near the pier and right on the ocean in Hilo. Definitely gets hot and Puna… man, that’s like a Petri dish!
It surprises me that many people who live here do not really understand Puna. There is lower Puna, down near the shore and it is pure jungle, hot and humid. Puna also extends to over 4000 feet as you rise to the town of Volcano. It rises even higher outside town in the National Park. Puna is both hot and cold, depends on the area. I live half way up Kilauea at 1680. It is generally cooler rather than warmer here.
@@kastlerock01 It is a common error. I hear it a lot. Most of the best parts of lower Puna were destroyed in the last eruption. We lost the hot ponds, Waiopae' tide pools and the Champagne ponds. A couple decent eateries are about the only reasons I have to venture that way anymore.
Yes prices have gone up considerably over the years. White Pineapple fruit is available August to Oct. The slips are July to October. I live in Mountain View on the big island.

Pahoa and Hilo bus stations seem to draw the worst the Island has to offer. Some areas are very good to live in, others are full of cockroaches. A friend sometimes pull security duty at the Hilo bus station, work is much better at the chocolate factory! Choose wisely. Aloha
