Flawless Boss Battle - Undertale Genocide Final Boss (Dialogue Emphasized) 

The fact that no hit sans is litreally just two people missing all there attacks for seven minutes never gets old

I like how sans is the only one who realizes he can just use his strongest attack first and he can actually dodge attacks like a player could

This is 14 minutes of nobody hitting each other

The saddest thing is hearing him die of camera, asking his brother if he wants anything

"Flawless" is definitely a better term than "No-Damage", consider that you take inevitable damage at the end.

This has to be scary for Sans! A human has kill almost every monster in the underground and you are the last hope... And you can't land a single hit on them.

Sans would spend all eternity taking his turn than die and let all reality be destroyed. He doesn't give himself credit, he's the most noble person in the underground

I think the saddest part about this fight is that sans knows he can't win and constantly talks about it with you. Like he says, it doesn't matter if he wins because it'll get reset over and over until he doesn't. He knows this and still tries his best to stop you

"Sorry, Old lady. This is why I never make promises." I know, Sans. You tried to promising to Toriel that you wouldn't kill a single human. But the human already killed her anyways. No, not only her. Everyone else.

can we just appreciate that Sans had about 5 minutes to just rest and do nothing, then continue the battle with part of his stamina, but instead he chats with the player?

why did it take me so long to realize that the “old lady” line was referring to his promise to toriel. for the longest time i just assumed he was calling frisk an old lady. why am i stupid

I’m so glad I never did this fight myself. Seeing Sans like this truly breaks my heart. This game is so well written, like I’m still amazed so many years later.

It's always funny to me how in 5:23 Sans casually admits to lying about wanting to be your friend, to the point where he instantly drops the act and says "welp. it was worth a shot."

Everyone knows sans can take the first turn but did you know papyrus could do the same? he uses his first turn to spare you during the genocide

I know this is old news now, but it will never cease to bring me joy how meta the Sans fight manages to be while keeping you fully invested. It really feels like Sans, and hell the game itself is fighting back, against *you* .

Sans is a character that never lets his emotions get ahead of him. He isn't expressive like Papyrus, and he never gives a straight answer when it comes to his feelings. Except right here at 8:46. That was a moment of pure, unbridled rage. The only time in the entire game that he fully drops the facade of a laid-back goofball you see in the Pacifist route. You can feel how much he hates you, and how badly he wants you dead, even with no dialogue. Truly a powerful moment, incredible that Toby Fox came up with this.

The fact sans takes basically infinite damage and survives for a bit is insane

I just realized he probably said this because his brother has hope and strongly believed that everyone has a good side to them, even at his final breath. He thought about his brother from the beginning and he thought about his brother until the end. :(

As a writer of sorts, I've always found this dialogue to be nearly perfect. Gives me goosebumps even.

imagine if this wasn’t a game and sans was actually giving his all. I would imagine the first half would be the same, but after saying the real fight begins all it was was him using his psychic powers to force you into a Gaster Blaster, and you would have to be incredibly lucky to survive

Oh lord watching Sans die makes me feel like I died with him T^T

Sans's dialogue and his descension into pure, unbridled rage in this fight just give me chills. I don't think I'll ever have the guts to do a Genocide run of my own, but this is just so well done, and it shows us such a fascinating side of the Sans character.

This is debatably the best boss fight in gaming history and in my opinion I can’t think of a fight that even comes close to how difficult, emotional, and just how fucking cool it is. It’s a work of fine, fine art

makes you wonder, how powerful would Sans be if he actually trained and leveled himself up from it?

The moment I beat this guy was the day I thought "what if I replaced my two legendary heros with two sea teas?" The only thing that held me back from winning was the gaster blaster wheel at the very end of the fight, no matter what, I just wasn't fast enough, but the moment I used those sea teas before the second phase, I did it. It wasn't a good attempt though, not at all, not even a "okay" attempt. I BARELY beat this guy. I usually end up at the final attack with full health or near full health, but for my winning attempt, I only had like, HALF health. But I made it. Update: I beat him without the sea teas.

That first attack is still epic than his "Huh, always wonder why people never use their strongest attack first" than the Battle theme playing. I freaking love it it gets me hyped up

Before anyone makes a comment about the last attack, when Sans throws you around you AUTOMATICALLY take 36 UNAVOIDABLE damage, so the fight can't be done DAMAGELESS, but it can be done no hit. The only route that can be done damageless is neutral.

The fact that Sans turns to his dead brother, and asks him if he wants any food. It's very sad. I also never really noticed that he dies off screen, but you do gain some LV, so. Edit:I can't spell

I absolutely hate how I'm apparently the only person who goes down to dodge the lasers towards the end of his opening attack

At this point if the game it’s not you fighting sans. It’s sans fighting you. That’s why he can dodge, and that’s why the music if your boss theme, and not his. Because he isn’t the megalomaniac. At one point in the route you become a anti-hero to a genuine villain.

The fact anyone in the universe can to a flawless Sans fight is Truly Amazing.

Props to ya for beating the fight at all. I could never do so although I did get to the second phase a few times.

Merg: Finally, a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary

I really like the context of this fight. Sans is completely demoralised by the pointlessness of continuous resets that he is basically the weakest creature in the game, but is compelled to try and stop you because suddenly there will be consequences if he doesn't - the game would stop with him and everyone he loves dead. But the only way he can stand against you is by using under-handed and subversive methods. The whole config rpg battle hud isn't for your sake as player, it's literally how the momsters see things as they fight. And it's very telling that Sans cares so little for the conventions of battle he uses his strongest attack first; he moves out of the way of your swing animation; his attacks do continuous damage of 1 point; he attacks your icon on the menu screen; he insta kills you should you attempt (or pretend) to make amends; and his magnum opus is just to never let it be your turn. It's all clever ways to circumvent the fact he is the weakest opponent you will fight. His motivation is also really ingenious: he's not trying to kill you because he knows you'll just reset and pop back - just present you with a challenge so difficult that you can't move past him. That way there's a chance you'll reset the game and bring everyone back.

Well done! This must’ve taken days of preparation and practice.

"just lay down your weapon, and... well, my job will be a lot easier." Clever foreshadowing for how Sans will legit destroy you if you accept his "mercy" offer. It's also not very subtle, if you think about it and know what will happen. I think the screen blinking black afterwards between each attack may also be the way the game prevents Sans from just hitting the player with unavoidable attacks. The only time he's able to do that is when the player _chooses_ to spare him. Otherwise, it's an unfair fight if he can attack unfairly with no consequences or way for the player to escape or avoid it. Although maybe not. Because Sans seems to use it later to just disorient and confuse the player instead.

Sans is such a cool character, I mean in a game full of great characters I think we can all agree he stands as one of if not the best character in the game, the mystery of him, the way he can just do things that he shouldn't be able to, know things he shouldn't, and just his whole vibe make him one of my favorite characters of all time in any medium

This fight means so much more when you know who sans is as his character. Hes a lazy jokester, yet hes also one of the hardest bosses in the game! It doesn't make sense, but thats what makes the fight so much more intriguing. You would constantly ask, "how am I getting killed by SANS"

God I love Sans. Hes the most badass, awesome character in Undertale. This ONE SCENE & FIGHT is so powerful in it’s dialogue and the way the story/lore is integrated into the fight its insane. San’s entire heart and soul is literally fused into the fight itself.

You wanna fight or just…get it over with?” (The “monster” is presented with a choice. And then proceeds to cut him down) “Figures…heh…you got more important things to do…right? …like breaking another world?” (Somewhere past the 30th run) “…we already know the drill…but let me ask you something first.” (The Demon stops, intrigued by this sudden twist) “…what happens when somebody who already knows the outcome…is faced with something unexpected?” (The Demon looks confused, wondering why the comedian chooses now to bluff.) “…you think I’m bluffing don’t you? …let’s just get this over with” (Cue the beginning of Last Breath)

I feel like sans is easy in the sense that his boss fight is incredibly structured and feels very precise not that hes easy or anything but once you learn his patterns and how his attacks work he becomes much easier

So, he is aware that this happens, so he could have trained for it in some time-line, and be stronger than this in some time-line, and we still beat him.

He calls out the player for being a video game player. That even if the player did the good ending, the true pacifist route, that they ultimately may only undo everything, bring them back to being trapped, just so they could selfishly spend time with the Undertale crew. To Sans, it's his life, the life of his brother, and the lives of everyone else underground that the player is, well, playing with. Sans just wants you to do the good ending and leave them alone afterwards. That's all he wants. Yet he has detected what you've been doing. That his life is your plaything. This is the one time he lets out his frustration against the player for playing games.

Sans's monologue is the really long winded version of "nothing matters lmao" and I love it

If you dodge all of Sans’ attacks expect his telekinesis powers to hit you all the white box that the soul that you control is in after killing a lot of innocent monsters in the underground and also no hit from every monster if no hit from every monster that you meet, that means you are the true evil. And I like it. 😈
