A little something I wanted to do for a long time. Fire Emblem 3 Houses supports are really good, but I feel are held back by the fact that it's a bunch of copy-pasted animations. So I decided to try my hand at hand animating one of them.
Been working on this one for a while, was pretty hard to do it at the same time as my college stuff and thesis but I was very much committed. When it comes for plans for the future, maybe I'll try my hand on reanimating some more supports or perhaps even just some normal dialogue cutscenes from the game. Can't make any promises though, since my life schedule at the moment is kinda hectic.
I think a good handful of supports that could work as reanimated supports would be, The Bernadetta and Dorothea B support. The Alois and Shamir B support. And the Lysithea and Leonie C support.
Funny enough (spoilers ahead for those who haven't played the game yet). During my first playthrough, it was Seteth himself that gave away that he was Flayn's father and not her brother (before I did their paralogue). When Flayn gets kidnapped, the fear he displays is absolutely that of a parent searching desperately for their child, not that of a sibling concerned for each other. It was far more primal, bordering on terror. Big shoutout to Mark for being able to play the character so well. The VA cast of this game all did a fantastic job.
While this is obviously meant to be a hint I also dont think its crazy for a brother acting as the parent to act the way he did when his sister would be kidnapped
For me, the biggest hint was Rhea saying, "I think of your... sister as family, too." The way she hesitates before saying "sister" suggests that she had to stop herself from saying "daughter."
@@yoder6162 especially if both of their hypothetical parents had died and it was just the two of them. I think, in that situation, Seteth would’ve most definitely behaved the same, even if he was actually Flayn’s older brother
Wow this turned out really well! The subtle animations of their eyes and body language were great. I especially loved how the music cut and there was a pause in response from Seteth after Flayn said "As my brother?" It really emphasizes the depth of their relationship and is a nice treat for those who know the backstory behind those two. I think this is one of my favorite projects involving Fe3h that you've done so far!
You know, I never noticed the stilted, awkward way Seteth said "As an elder brother", and I always thought Seteth was more apt at hiding it than Flayn. Your animation really brought that out, which is fantastic. In addition, I was CACKLING with Seteth threatening the student. The visual aide made it all the funnier. Honestly, the supports is what really invest me in the games, but if each support was like a mini animated movie, I don't even think I would mind a cut to supports or even the cut of the avatar character to animate some of these supports. Have you considered opening commissions? I'm sure plenty of people would pay money to see their favorite convos animated.
When it comes to commissions, my schedules is a little too sporadic for me to take those on, sadly. I wouldn't want people to wait 5 months for an animation that an individual with a normal schedule could make in less than one
@@Narbartor If you want me to be honest, I work with a lot of artists on DA and like... some REALLY elaborate art pieces can have a six month turnaround from me describing the commission to the artist delivering. So I've worked with people and have been patient enough to wait that long if it's something I really want. I'm sure there's other people in the animation community who would be open to it too. Irregardless, I hope you find all the success! You really captured the character of Seteth and Flayn, you it's obvious you do have a good understanding of their mannerisms and hypothetical actions that truly brought them to life.
Yeah, the supports are only really carried by their writing. I think as long as they were using sprites or character portraits that was fine enough, but ever since Three Houses used 3D models instead they always looked so... stiff. Even though Engage made many leaps in overall presentation it left that aspect as is. I think they should take a few notes from Persona and how they portray their character interactions. Persona may have more suitable locations for day to day activities already but at least let people sit during supports or strike the right poses or eat and do stuff other than standing around. Cutting a few convos and having an overall imbalance in who can support whom and how often is well worth imo.
You did a great job with this. The shot with them stalking around the table is hard to do if you don't know what you're doing; it's easy to make it look like the wrong person is doing the chasing, but you nailed it.
Note that every use of "Brother" is actually "Father" and every use of "Sister" is actually "Daughter." Funny how it's so obvious with how they say it, like they have to keep catching themselves from slipping.
This make me wanted to see more of the three houses support be animated to this. Seriously while three houses stock animation are fine, this just adds a lot of charm
This is really well done. The characters animation really captures the feelings of what Flayn and Seteth are going through. And the backgrounds are match the setting in the game faithfully! Love the cameos in the flashback! Keep up the good work!
These facial expressions & body language... How is this Fan-made? This looks like a pilot for a show & a damn good looking one, at that. Someone call Glitch Productions, this person over here has tons of talent
Oh this is so so good omg 😭😭 literally everything about this was done so perfectly. The way they’re both animated during the “as an elder brother” moment, especially, is masterful. It really shows how baffled Seteth is by this whole confrontation and how pissed Flayn is, especially with that mega zoom-in. Also once again can we fucking praise the English VAs for this game like goddamn. Flayn is not usually one to be upset easily, but that slight change in tone from Deva Marie really sells how embarrassed and angry Flayn was
It's beautiful. I've looked at this for five hours now. Memes aside this was a great way to breathe new life into a part of the game that people either blow over or watch repeatedly until it gets dull. Absolutely amazing work here!!!
LMAO, I love how Seteth is playing keep away from flayn around the table! Love your work! Please keep making more of these animated skits of their supports and the character dynamics!
This is a fun watch to see these instances more involved. I love the bit of circling the desk. I do hope to see more in the future. The Dimitri and Raphael support would be hilarious.
This was so, so good! At the beginning, when I recognized what support this was, I was a little underwhelmed since I didn't think much could be done with it. Boy was I wrong! Your animations and shots are so natural with the script and the little quirks in how the lines are delivered. A 10/10 work 💚

This is how they should handle Support conversations in the actual game. This animation breathed so much humanity into these characters that the actual models fail to convey with their preset (not to mention limited) animations.

WOWOW Some of the shots in this are really great! I really loved the end sequence! Really impactful. The others were great but you’ve improved a lot with this one! Makes me picture a world and budget where supports are actually this animated…!
I love this so much, you brought so much life into the support that the game proper simply did not save for the VA work. It’s one of my favorite supports.
Play the game again, and I really appreciate the foreshadowing the VAs put in their lines. You can hear it in the way they hesitate/emphasize on using brother/sister, like they quickly remember they need a ruse to maintain. ie: "As my "Brother"!?" Rhea even does this in chapter 6: "I know you're worried about your... "sister", Seteth"
Just happened to have googled something that led me here and am incredibly happy it did! I love their relationship and wish we got to hear more of their past, as well as their, ah, long-gone relatives.
This is awesome! don't get me wrong, three houses is probably my favorite game ive ever playe,d but it does sometimes feel like it coud use more liveliness like this
This was so damn good! Not just the animation of the characters but the camera angles were so good. My only complaint (not really a complaint just a small thing) is that I think it should have been Ignatz who Seteth was speaking to in the flash back. Just with how with he reacts in his supports with Flayn I think he would fill that role perfectly. Not even a mark against you I just think it was a very small detail that would have been neat.
The conversations have a much more dynamic and cinematic feel in a presentation like this. Holy CRAP this was insanely well-done. It feels different compared to seeing portraits, text and (mostly) static 3D models on the screen. LOVE the movement, the artistic choices, and the moments of SILENCE to drive home lines. I'd love to see my favourite supports (Sylvain/Mercedes or Annette/Gilbert) animated in this way.

@Arkensius1157 yes I know. Before I stated playing the game, I knew rhea is a dragon and everyone else in the church with green hair must be a dragon. First I that they were failed clones of sothis, rhea mother. Really thought she was evil.
