Seriously Seteth is an incredibly interesting character in a cast of good characters.

The reason why flayn almost dies was the battle of the nabateans, the one that is seen at the beginning of the game, in this battle at some moment seteth got separated from flayn and her mother for some reason, and when he was able to find them seteths wife was dead and flayn was heavily injured

I love Seteth, he is so awesome and in many ways, a counterargument to Hubert's dehumanizing belief that the Nabateans cannot understand Humanity, but is also more Human than Hubert, Edelgard and the Agarthans. 1. Rhea IS sane in every route other than CF, she just wants what is best for Fódlan and succeeded for a long time. Her quest to revive her mothers broke some moral boundaries but is not really the most awful thing ever. Also, the devs revealed that the Quest for Sothis's return is fueled by more than just a selfish desire to see her mother again, it's also fueled by the quest to return the Goddess to the world again as she sees her as the Creator. It's evident by the fact, that Sothis is a powerful and wise Goddess, who could return the world back to an age of prosperity. However yeah the quest was very questionable on multiple accounts, but more morally tolerable than the Demonic beast research and Lehran's covenant with Ashera( have you ever played the other FE games?). 2. He really was wise for his age as he tells us a lot of good advices and seems more reasonable in regards of people than Rhea's dangerous trust in Byleth. He understands that just because everyone has a common cause of belief in the same faith, they are not going to agree on everything and that lesson is one of the most important Felix had to learn, in order to understand Dimitri, who is suffering from the tragedy of Duscur. 3. In the paralogue with Claude's quest to discover a ruin, where the saint Macuil has gone, he also tried as you said to reason with his brother, but it fails because he was disgusted by the Humans. That begs the question, why did he entered the war and crafted powerful weapons for the Humans, if he despises them so? Was he only in there because he wanted revenge or did he something to the other humans that forced him to go on exile? Also fun fact Cichol's name comes from Celtic mythology and is the name of one of the Fomorians, their equivalent of the giants in Norse mythology whereas Mac'cuil is the name of a pantheon of gods opposing them. Do you not find it weird how they abuse the etymology of names without any consideration of the meanings behind them, Agartha and Shambhala make sense since they had been abused by New agers for their Aryan supremacy fantasizes. 4. I like him also for the fact, that he shows how good religion can be and that not all people of faith are irrational morons and hate everything because quite frankly, this trope allowed to create a false history of religious supremacy over science., even though I find it weird that Yuri believes in the flat Earth as I heard, but that might not be true. Can somebody please explain to me, where he said that? Also to the JoJoke, I actually did see myself this time supporting Dio, since I would not let a skirt-chaser like Sylvain come near her.

Could you elaborate on the name origins? I am quite interested in anything regarding that with all the creats and relics. Like I am german and I always found the names Blutgang and Freikugel to be quite wierd as they are all the same in every language. The reason it that Blut is german for Blood and Frei is german for Free and Kugel is german for ball or orb so yeah that’s one thing but all other names are also interesting to know.

I started loving him the moment Flayn first embarrassed him to Byleth, after he made his "patrolling a coffin" joke. I thought he was gonna be anime Snape, but he's clearly anime McGonagall. Very strict and by the book, but kind and caring. Seteth represents everything good about the Church of Seiros: Guidance, empathy and sagely calmth. On the other hand, his fate in Crimson Flower is heartbreaking. Either he and his daughter witness the other die, or they become refugees in a world that has learned to hate them. I was glad to see him back on the team in Three Hopes, and he became a surprisingly amazing Holy Knight.

He's a beastly unit. I only checked four stats of his, but if you get him to Wyvern Lord as soon as you get him, he will, on average, have: 82 health, 55 strength, 47 speed, and 38 defense at level 60 (if this is below his max stats of course lol). For reference, he will have more health, strength, and speed than Dimitri will on average at level 60. He will also have more average defense than Edelgard (barely lmao). This all comes at the avoidable arrow weakness.
@ordinaryunits4341
@ordinaryunits4341 3 года назад
He really is, in fact he was such an effective unit for me in my first blue lions playthrough that I used him for the entirety of the game after I recruited him. I never saw the average stats that he would have a level 60, it's crazy just how effective he is.

@@ordinaryunits4341 this, combined with having full access to the full power of a combination of two holy items (ochain shield and spear of assal), which combine to have him heal 66% health per turn (assuming the regen stacks, of course). He does have a bane against Res, only having a 25% growth in it in Wyvern Lord, so he is extra weak to wind spells.

I honestly think they could have had Seteth and Flayn be playable on Crimson Flower. It could have easily been done as an option after them seeking how unhinged Rhea has become and that going with Edelgard will protect Flayn better. And Edelgard could also be further shown in a sympathetic light by letting them join and saying "I never wanted to be your enemy." It would only have taken a few lines and it is implied that Seteth didn't know the whole story of what Rhea did because he only started working for her recently. Rhea's hands certainly weren't clean either even before the war.
@emoneestep3244
@emoneestep3244 3 года назад
I don't think that would work character wise. Seteth is as good as a brother to Rhea and regardless of Edelgard's dislike of TWSITD, she still works with them and they are the ones truly responsible for the slaughter of the Nabateans. It makes sense that neither Seteth nor Flayn would join the side that has the people who slaughtered their whole race. Edelgard's character is just sympathetic enough to make a tragic villain and it really works well for her. Instead of just the typical fe evil dragon behind everything bad in the world, the person who starts the war, betrays all of her comrads and forcibly bends the continent to her will is a character that we have spent over a year getting to know and like. It makes a greater impact for the story as is. If Edelgard's actions had been justifiable or too sympathetic, then we just have Dimitri's fallen hero arc again. But it's not, and I love it. Edelgard truly thinks that her path, which she admits is blood soaked, is the only way to bring about change and is likely fueled by the fact that she doesn't have much time left and so she really does not think things through. It makes for a wonderfully interesting character as is. And Rhea is no where near as evil as the fandom makes her out to be. Really, the only truly terrible thing that she's done (and this is debatable) is trying to revive Sothis through Byleth. However Byleth was going to die at birth without Sothis' heart anyway and it was Sitri (Byleth's mother) who asked Rhea to give Byleth her heart (Sitri had Sothis' heart before Byleth), hence the debatability of whether or not this was bad. In CF she burns the city only after losing everything else, but that is only after she has lost literally everything in her life that had any meaning. Her home, gone, her family, slaughtered, her own grandchild is coming to kill her with a sword made of her mother's bones. But honestly CF is the only route that pushes Rhea to the absolutely limit.
@nmartinez18
@nmartinez18 3 года назад
@@emoneestep3244 I would argue that the generations of lies are points against Rhea, and CF is also the only route where Rhea isn't getting her way for when we see her. She's not pure evil, but she is also not innocent. But I don't look at Fandom stuff as much becuase there is too much exaggeration on every end. The problem i think with Three Houses in general is that they is something unfinished in each route and even if you play all of them you still have questions or things unanswered. Like in Blue Lions Rhea is kinda forgotten about post time-skip. But I think they could have done an uneasy alliance between Edelgard and Seteth and Flayn. Not that he approves of her actions or wants to fight Rhea, but that given the situation he is in he is willing to compromise that evil for Flayns safety. That would be a really good support chain for him and Edelgard. Edelgard is my favorite lord in the game and she is kinda the poster child from the advertising, but CF is also the shortest and most unfinished route. So I think that some much more COULD be done with it. And Edelgard has the least amount of supports of the lords, so so much more COULD have been done with her. For my stance neither Edelgard or Rhea is entirely right or entirely wrong. That's kinda why I would want a route where Byleth has the option to not be on either of their sides and just goes "I'm stopping both of you, kicking BOTH of your asses, and saving everyone i can from this stupid war."
@MusicaX79

Seteth was the one character I did not expect to have that significant of a character development. "This is an old dude that is totally in the same boat with Rhea and will choose her over anyone no matter what she does." Only for him to openly defend you and admonish Rhea. Then when he find out more about what she has done the conflicts between telling you the truth and trying to keep you finding her come crashing down. He wants to tell you what she did because he cares about you, but also wants to find Rhea and is afraid you will give up the search when you find out. One of my favorite characters in the story for how well he is written. His Daughter is still creepy AF thou. 1000 years old acts like a 15 year old, that's female mantis s***.
@ordinaryunits4341
@ordinaryunits4341 Год назад
I was in the same boat as you, I started out thinking that seteth was a one-note authority figure. But his character and motivations were really fleshed out after learning that he is saint cichol. It adds a lot of needed weight to his character and recontextualizes his overprotectiveness to be more understandable.
