Just wanted to thank u for all ur videos. I’ve learned so much from here on these cars and low riding in general. After over 10 year I finally picked up a FWB witch will soon be my second lowrider I’ve owned. I Will be referring to all ur videos to help with my build. Thanks again!
Great real world video; very much informative and very useful for my 1993 Buick roadmaster limited, about the same but uses Chevy 5.7L 350 small block with cast iron heads. I know to locate that fuel line tool, as other videos omitted that part👍👍. Your rooster was instrumental in giving us (the viewers a real world feel of your awesome video. Thank you and yes I did subscribe. 73 Earnest K5EWM.
Thanks! Clyde (the rooster) was a channel mascot for the longest (he just inserted himself as he felt necessary) he passed away a few months ago but he lives on in the videos
@@FranciscoGarcia-wc7tc theres a jumper wire to the fuel pump too you can run straight 12v from battery to test the pump. Its on the passenger side firewall where the relay is attached. Should be red wire with a female end. I think ive heard of them being orange too.
Great video. I have the same car as you do, but have never started it in 3 yrs. Tried to start it today but no go. I imagine fuel pump is shot, will be a nightmare to change it with a full tank of gas. Any comments will be appreciated.
You can pull the hose off where the filler neck connects to the gas tank the will be a plastic baffle inside of the opening of the tank that you can pull out and it will let the gas drain
@@thecadillacdanshow8658 it is. Thankfully, everything is the same mechanically chassis etc. only difference is the back doors and back. Body is fiberglass
My 84 Sedan Devilles fuel pump got me while coming home Thanksgiving. The incline pushed the pump too far. But, I now know where other issues came. Mucho monero later. Dag gone it!
Dan can you tell me what to do to increase the pedal response of my 94 Fleetwood ? Feels like Granny taking off....nothing like the corvettes and impalas with the same exact engine and trans....?????
I want to say there is a fuse for the gas gauge itself I know on the 80s models there is on big bodys its probably fused on the same circuit as the pump check your connection if I remember correctly the purple wire is for the fuel level
I got a problem with my 96 fleetwood radio a/c component and interior lights got no power fuses are good checked the wiring and its all good but cant find why they wont get power Dash and windows work
From what I can tell check out the power wire it looks as if it comes out of the instrument cluster it's a purple / white wire the pin on the cluster looks to be A4 it shows a label of 724 I dont remember if the wires are labeled this is what the diagram is showing. You can look on the heater control connector also should be a purple / white wire and same one the radio you instrument cluster lights up right?
@@thecadillacdanshow8658 my lowrider been sitting up for over 10yrs so I know the gas is old and when I try to start it just cranks won't turnover and when I son had me turn the key on he didn't hear the fuel pump kick in so he said change fuel pump assembly dump the old gas out and put some stuff in there to clean up the the old gas you said it in the video I can't remember the name but it's for when a car gonna sit up so you won't end up with bad gas sad part it's a full tank 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ I went to a car show and the pass key default kept coming on and I couldn't start the car I had to unplug the battery for 10mins then plug back up and let the car reboot then I could start it I even had it bypassed a day before the car show and didn't have no problem
There is a shrader valve on top of the engine on the driver side it kind of looks like a valve stem for a tire you can press it and it will let fuel out out a rag over it while you do it to keep from getting sprayed with gas
Well it did quit but I think it had a lot to do with what I did I stored the fuel tank out of the car for a few months I had the tank on its side so the pump was not submerged in fuel and i think it rusted when i get done building the car I'm going to warranty it out and see how it does
Hey bro I have a 93 but every fuel pump asymbly I see doesn’t have the right connecter and lid to the tank is to small it basically falls in But every 94-96 fuel pump has the right connecter and is large enough to fit the tank , I’m confused
I use mobile 1 full synthetic that's what my 96 had on the oil cap from the factory so I have run it in all of my cadillacs and all of my other cars for that matter i have ran conventional oil in some cars that sat a long time ago and when I went to change the oil it was all gelled up i had to stab it with a screw driver to get it to drain my tan Cadillac sat for 7 years and the oil was still like new so that's why i run mobile 1
On your fuel pump was the vent hose hooked up to anything? I was dropping my tank today and noticed that the vent wasn’t hooked up to anything and looked like it never has been hooked up. I’m 2nd owner of the car and everything still original, my question was what is the purpose of the vent hose?
Thank You I'm going to try to do as may Fleetwood repair videos as I can there realy is not much as far as repair videos so I just make then as I need to work on mine as for the exhaust its Flowmaster 40 series cut off befor the rear axle with no converters
I ran out of gas one day, put a gallon in her and went straight to the gas station about 1.5miles away. She took 20 gallons. Id say between 3-4 gallons sit in there that dont get pumped. Doesnt make sense.
Have you pulled the seding unit out of the tank yet it may be bent like mine was or one of the hoses in the tank could have a hole in it and its bypassing fuel at a certain level
@@thecadillacdanshow8658 replacing it now. Shop replaced pump last year before i bought it, didnt do the sending unit, so my guage only reads from 2 ticks above 1/4 tank to full. Pump just went up on (got it under warranty). Friend sent me a used sending unit but it seems to have the same issue so ordering a new one today. Old one wasnt bent, i didnt check the hose. Love these cars but im about to give her a break and put my Monte Carlo on the road. Lol Hopefully get paint, wheels, headers and exhuast done. Have you done the body bushings on these yet?
@@johnpippin2426 I feel you I'm getting my tan lac ready and it seems like everything is breaking on it just had to replace the alternator and now the oil cooler is leaking on the radiator. I have not done any body bushings but I am about to be doing a frame swap so I can touch on that when I do it
@@thecadillacdanshow8658 yup just done my radiator lmao sucks because i needed it asap, I spent the same on one with the plastic side tanks as an all aluminum one cost on rock auto. And ended up having to wait anyway because of a molded hose under the overflow. I got her for $2500 like 14-15 months ago. Great deal, but ive put $2700 in her since then. Of course doing my own work. I need a steering column. Not sure if you ever come across parts, but if so that would be great. My turn signal broke (not sure if I've mentioned it to you or not) and i cant get her inspected. You doing a video on the frame swap? That'll be cool.
Hey Dan names David. I have a 94 fleetwood that I bin building would it be possible if I can get a pics on how you did your bridge I don’t know how to send private messages on this and nothing but I can give you my info or likewise Thank you very much
I can do better then pics here is a video it's in a caprice but it's the same principle a Fleetwood is a little wider I'm about to be building a bridge in my Fleetwood so I can give you a exact measurement in a little while ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qHmD9EtMigk.html
Hey, I have a 96 fleetwood and need some help… I don’t have a check engine light on but when my car is on the exhaust smells rich (smells like gas)… if it’s cold or dark outside you can see blueish smoke… if it’s bright out you can’t really tell it smokes but it smells
Dan question for you , my fuel pum on my fleetwood, gives me full tank reading when its not . This is a new pump . When the pump is inside the tank and secured. Thats when it gives me the full reading. Butvwhen its loose and not secured and i slightly rotate just a bit to the left it reads good. But then the pump dont line up with the tank opening and the circle plate dont sit on top right because the pump is out of line. Any suggestions? Thanks
@@thecadillacdanshow8658 hi Dan, thanks for the reply I appreciate it. I thought so too but the floater is cleared. Someone said it might be the pump itself.
The pump and the sending unit are two separate systems in a way all the pump dose is send fuel and all the sending unit does is send a signal for the fuel level (and send fuel through the lines) there is a strip where the float mounts to the unit that's what changes the resistance to tell the fuel gauge what level the tank is at it may be damaged and shorting out when coming in contact with fuel? They do make a complete assembly if the sending unit and pump all as one that was the route I went due to my gas gauge showing three bars when it was dead empty
It's around the area of the fuse box on the passenger side under the hood it should be mounted on the fire wall but most the time it has fallen ontop of the inner fender well
My 96 Fleetwood done started coughing when the weather gets hot, and the fuel pump is whining real loud, and the fuel ain't getting through.... So I turned the car on the next morning, and it was back to normal... but after 30mins driving round the city I come home again, and she starts coughing again losing fuel pressure... Is it most likely the fuel pump?
Make sure you subscribe I have alot of Fleetwood repair videos let me know if you have any questions I may be able to make a video if I dont already have one
Thanks for watching. I have not installed a continental kit I have seen a few weather or not they were install correctly I'm not sure but the ones I have seen they cut the bumper and run all thread through the bumper to bolt the kit up
It's behind the fuse box under the hood on the passenger side some times it falls down on top of the wheel well. I belive it's the same as the fan relays they are located on the front of the fuse box under the hood
