I am Stevie's number 1 fan but I have to say there would be no Stevie without Lindsey. He paved the way for her and put her in the spotlight. Now a lot will argue with me over this but it's true. He loved her so and their relationship brought about some amazing songs. I do hope they bring Lindsey back to Fleetwood Mac, I know they have had their ups and downs but there is no Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey and they have done lost Christine who was also amazing. 💜 ❤️
Mr. Buckingham don't need fm anymore. Never going back again. And she is and always was a open nerv. He stand for highest musical quality. Congrats to Lindsey.....
This is great Lindsey did an interview not to long ago and said him and John are like bestfriends, he said him and John never had a fight or disagreement he said it's rare cause he has had a disagreement with everyone in the band i think Johns just so laid back and so is Lindsey in a way so I think they work well together for that reason.
I like so much how Lindsey changed his image. In 1977 he looked so much like he was from 1972 or 1973. But by 1979 he looks adopted to the fashion of 1979. He was more into european styles and experimentalism. He is one of the greatest.
He was heavily influenced by the beginning of the Punk Rock movement that was forming. He chopped off his hair and gave up the “hippie” look, after attending a CLASH concert in London. At the time, the big rock bands of the 70’s were being mocked as the “old dinosaur bands.” Buckingham was only 30 and he decided FM needed to delve more into “musical experimentation.” He did not want to follow the the formula, which lead to Rumours (The all time best selling album at the time). The result was the masterpiece double album Tusk, which was viewed as a commercial failure even though it sold 4 million copies.
John is such a cool guy.. these guys and gals know a lot more about music theory and production than they sometimes let on.. not many artists are able to come off as 'cool' but actually be complete geeks inside...
Well maybe not complete geeks, but anyway to know about music theory and sound architecture in general to a great depth, but still be very cool. I heard a story about Christine during a recording session impressing the engineer by knowing she has to invert her chords up a third, or down a third as to not play on top of and muddy another instrument, maybe LB's guitar. :) Thanks for the thumbs up
They were all of equal importance and all amazing talent. Worked hard and performed well. Such incredible artists of our times. They absolutely don't write like that anymore. What a treasure. It's to bad that music to me has just switched to many gears. No where near the same as it was. People say art is over. I just hope the art of music remains deep in all our hearts. Because there are so many,so so many incredible artists out there. Never forget the greats. And it's a long list. 🎶 🎶 🎶 ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
I love most all of your music,Diana was a good one esp the video where Stevie looks at u like she could kill u then turns her nose up.and in this video you can go your own way,wow you are one handsome man
Same.. I love playing his bass parts on my cheap squier p-bass when I'm in the mood.. the guy even looks like me, or I looked like him when I was younger (the Beano Album years ) lol.. I feel a minority of FM fans think John is their favorite but that's fine. His sense of rhythm is underrated too..
Clapton raves about John as a bassist in his autobiography, and - well - he's played with a few great bassist in his time, so I think that he know whereof he speaks!
I love this. Tusk is my favorite album, Save Me A Place is one of my fave songs. Lindsey looks and sounds amazing, as per usual. Thanks for posting Jackie!
I have bits and pieces of this doc, but I've never seen this part. I have to admit, no matter how many years I've been listening to FM and being such a fan of Stevie's growing up, Save Me a Place is really my favorite FM song. It gives me such a warm feeling and it's so beautiful!
I wish whoever shot this documentary would upload all the leftover material that wound up on the cutting room floor to RU-vid. I would gladly sit and watch a few hours of Fleetwood Mac recording Tusk.
Lol, that happened to a lot of the 70’s guys going into the 80’s. Look at Glen Frey, and Henley , even Neil Young in the early 80’s...but never David Crosby
I guess, that, in the end, Buckingham's efforts made Fleetwood Mac great and kept it great. He is very very talented. Could be, he is overlooked a little bit due to the charisma of Stevie. I guess, Lindsey, accidently planted a little seed of his talent in Stevie and she gratefully developped that talent as her own. I think, he never thought she would (accidently) overrule him a little.
@@ArtieFufkin546 Yes. They were both talented and genius in their own way. One not necessarily better, just different. And yes, Lindsey was very skilled/exceptional arranging Stevie's songs. With Stevie being the front woman, plus her charisma - extra popularity, success and fame just happened for her. It happens with alot of bands. Members are talented but may not be frontman/woman (Randy Meisner - his incredible vocals made Eagles exceptional; and Mike Campbell's guitar playing was better than Tom's, etc.). Stuff happens over 40 years.
Thanks for sharing this! :) It's really interesting to see recording sessions of such an innovative band. They were the premiere band of the 70's and 80's and currently one of my favorite bands. and ah! Lindsey Buckingham. Was he gorgeous or what? :) He had good looks and beautiful vocals. Plus I love the shirts he wore with the exposed chest and all ;) He was sexy for sure. I love at 0:56 where he's like "oh! i like that ^_^" Anyway thanks for posting this :)
Jackie, I have been watching your videos for years. I love Fleetwood Mac, especially Lindsey and Stevie's songs. While Stevie is my favorite artist of all time, Lindsey is totally up there and I think he, unlike she, is very under-rated by many. I just wanted to let you know that you have made my night many times with your amazing posts. "Save Me A Place" is one of my favorite fleetwood mac songs and I really really enjoyed this. Rock on ancient queen!
While some people would love to have been the proverbial fly on the wall when the band was recording "Rumours," I would rather have witnessed the making of "Tusk" or "Mirage." Until RU-vid, I had no idea that the documentary or even these promotional videos existed.
Oh my God please can someone tell me something? The first song in the video, dont tell me me it was the original version of Save Me a Place?? Because if it was, i would be so disappointed! That version would have been a thousand times better! Ive been looking for that song ever since i watched a brief studio version and i just dont want to believe it was supposed to be Save Me a Place. Please if its not can someone tell me the name of the song?
Is this the same documentary that came out in 1980 on Discovision laserdisc? Back when MCA made all laserdiscs...before Pioneer took over almost the whole business.
For some reason I've never felt Linsey was sexy. I think he must have been a lousy lover. He s selfish inconsiderate if he'd have been better I don't think she'd have left him. She loved him but a woman can put up with just so much chit his behavior shows it he stayed pissed off at her for years she said it took her twenty years to finally tell him off
Good comment, I love his music to death he is a very unknown quantity a little like Dennis Wilson just off the wall but good off the wall maybe a minor genius but a flawed one. I get the opinion he is spoiled child hurtful not loving and generous and yes probably a lousy lover just out for himself its a shame it took him until he was sixty to grow up and its a shame it took Stevie twenty years to tell him probably she waited until she knew he would finally listen.
Gatamona1945 he's sexy alright. Magnetic. But nonetheless, was a self-absorbed person. These types are selfish and inconsiderate and I know this from marriage to one like this. Difficult to deal with. Perhaps he's not so much so now?
