Lindsey and his friends are performing the legendary Green's song in the tour of "Rumours",at december 1977 in Japan. I'm not sure about a city in which was this concert.
He's no Peter Green but Buckingham can play abit he can also fuck shit up coz he can't keep it in his trousers. He ruined fleetwood Mac, well what was left to ruin anyway.
@@fongy200 He never went and slept around with anyone else other than whoever his girlfriend was at the time. Stevie was the one who only wanted to have affairs, her and Mick had to stop seeing each other because they were afraid it would break up the band. Buckingham has had to tell many members of the band to have their parties and drugs elsewhere after he got tired of their wild behavior
This version also gives you a good listen into how great John McVie is as a bass player, solid and with great feel. He doesn’t get enough appreciation.
@@Lane2268 I was only commenting that the only member of the band not onstage in the film clip was Stevie Nicks. And it’s well known that she and the whole band did cocaine . And it was a bad joke
I was sitting in a bar in Fayetteville NC in the 90s, and a band was there visiting and damn, they rocked this song. There were only a few people in the place (of about 300 people) who knew the song and sang along with it. That was the start of a great night, one I will always remember
ONLY LINDSEY can do a cover of a blues Fleetwood Mac song and nail it. It’s perfect just like the original. I think Peter in his life had to admire Lindsey a bit. I am sure Lindsey respects the legacy of Peter. They are just so different but equally amazing artists!
Everyone plays this song. Not saying Lindsey didn’t do a good job but nailing it is a stretch, objectively this a weak vocal performance and an average performance of the first part … then breaking into the jam for 20 seconds (originally it’s half the song)
@gunnarmarks5754 Lindsey Buckingham and Peter Green were polar opposites as people - the refrain of "don't ask me what I think of you..." Could be Peter addressing someone precisely like Lindsay - arrogant with no humility and completely self-centred. It's ironic really.
@@hereasafanofallsorts5164 Yeah I ain't trying to be Lindsey's friend. I am just saying he is a musical genius. I am sure they were polar opposites. One had schizophrenia the other had an entitled youth in California back in the golden age of "the American dream". One was a blues guitarist, and one is a pop guitarist. That fact alone makes them very different. By the time Lindsey was in Fleetwood Mac poor Peter was in the middle of his mental illness and from most accounts people didn't know where he was. At least not the public.
@@gunnarmarks5754 Hey since you seem to know everything about music. Can you play guitar like Lindsey does? I highly doubt you can. Lindsey nailed this song. Mick Fleetwood knew how to pick the right guitarist to replace the Green. A weak performance by Lindsey is still better than most musicians can do on a good day. But let me guess you think Stevie was a better singer than Christine. Please pay attention I am talking singing ability not entertainment. Stevie is a better entertainer than Christine was and that is why Stevie is more popular.
@@patriciamays8244 um, no, Peter Green, the founder of Fleetwood Mac wrote it The bassist and drummer were on the original recording and they still play the dickens out of it. Lindsey does some wonderful things with a guitar, including the solo section on this performance, but overall this pales in comparison to the way the original guitarists played this live. But LB seems to be having fun, so more power to him.
I’m 64 & my high school band reunites every Christmas season to jam & record; we did a cool version of this a few years ago; not as easy as it seems; I believe Lindsey also did a credible version of Hypnotized during those early Buckingham Nicks Mac tours
i might be able to say that too if i'd never heard the real vesion by the original fleetwood mac. every single version i've heard since is not worth listening to. i got to the 1 minute mark in this version before i could not stand the way they butchered it any longer
obviously you've never ever heard the only one worth listening to. the original by the only REAL fleetwood mac with peter green and danny kirwin and the only 2 who are still with flleetwood mac, mick fleetwood and john mcvie.
Lindsey Buckingham was channeling Peter a little I think. The hair, the beard, the Les Paul. Two very different styles of singing and playing but both were great at what they did. Fleetwood Mac struck gold with Peter AND Lindsey.
IMO, this is the best version of this. At least for me. I remember hearing it for the first time back in the day and being blown away by the guitar. The entire version has tons of energy.
I love how Lindsey songs this... He sings no other song like this.... And now that he’s older, he kinda can’t? Not being mean it’s just the truth.... This is a real gem that should never be forgotten, and is the entire reason the band is in the rnrhof
He performed it in Vegas in 09. He was amazing! I'll bet he can do it just as well today. He's still rocking with bands like The Killers and Nine Inch Nails. Still awesome!
I loved the original version with Peter and Danny, the early Fleetwood Mac, but when Lyndsey plays it, it has a certain rawness to it. All be it evident that he's been at the beak he could and can play a bit. He's an excellent Guitarist with John Mcveigh's like for like notes on the Bass it's a great performance.
Yes it's true Peter Green was one the original founders really don't know what happened there but I ain't got nothing but love and respect for dude and yes Lindsay Buckingham is crazy he does a good job on that guitar he walked right he stepped right in man like say I don't know the story but I'd also like to say Stevie nicks always reminds me of one of my greatest fragrances apple blossoms peace we out and by the way does anyone know who shot smiley LOL 🙂
WILLIAM JONES I realise I find it difficult to be objective about Lindsey, but for me, his guitar solos AND singing been as intense as ever, right up to the time of his heart attack. We’ll have to hope, after the lockdown, he comes back and is able to show his brilliance again. If not, his legacy will still shine on forever.
its a crossbreed between Black Dog and Hocus Pocus tune, but this is the main tune by Peter Green, a version of Lindsey Buckingham and the Fleetwood Mac
Yep. Honestly the most talented members of the band. Don’t get me wrong Stevie definitely shines from time to time, but she was never the genius behind the band.
Why didn't they fire Stevie when she brought up this dumb goddamn ultimatum? This, and many other occasions show, that Fleetwood Mac could have went on very easily as a four or even three-piece band. Christine always got along great with Lindsey (maybe because they never had an affair?) and the new Buckingham McVie album is just one example for that. I believe without Stevie (I like her a lot, and I think she should have stayed up around 2003 to record "Say You Will" which is a really really great album - because it emerged out of a Lindsey Buckingham solo album) the band would have released one album until now. But she refuses to record one. I bet that without her, Lindsey would also go wilder and more experimental in his songs, and with Mick and John and Christine who are basically blues musicians that found themselves somehow stuck in a pop band, they could all make their sound more wild again. But instead, they fired him and now the band tours endlessly and plays the old hits over and over again....
It must have been quite boring for Lindsey to do all this old stuff, knowing he was sitting on so many ideas himself, but he does it proud! No sense of contractual obligation here!
Hey jerk off, Peter Green left Fleetwood Mac (he went insane-mental health problems) . By the time Lindsey and Stevie joined FM was on its last leg with the departure of Bob Welch. Of course FM would have to change its style from blues to the more current 70's style rock and roll. After all, Lindsey was asked to join and he was hesitant knowing the history of the band. Simply put without Lindsey's contributions and carrying the load, Fleetwood Mac would have cease to exist by 1974. Furthermore, there's no way FM would have been inducted into the hall of fame (to include Peter Green), if not for Lindsey Buckingham!
Adam Keenan totally agree just does not have the sole that PG had. I guess if you grow up in califonia and live in Holywood, thats somthing that's always gonna beyound you
@@mikemadunic7960 actually Lindsey Buckingham is a great guitar player but he has more off a finger-picking and smooth solo sound , which was a perfect match for their band. I did get to see O -Well live..but it was with the Rockets ... they were warming up for ZZ Top... actually Jim McCarty was an awesome guitar player he played for cactus in the early 70s and Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels before that
i've heard worse versions, particularly some girl band on youtube . this guy is certainly no peter greene or even close. can't understand these commenters saying buckingham is a geniuse. they can't have ever heard the greatest and real version and be able to say that with a straight face. very sad that peter green went on that permanent acid trip in germany in the 70's. he will always be an incomparable guitarist in my book.
This is a testament to just how good Green's lineup of Fleetwood Mac was. I love love love the Rumours era lineup, but Buckingham is about as bluesy as a box of Cornflakes.
True and I don’t think Buckingham would argue with you. But early on the Rumors lineup had to play some of the Mac classics to fill the void. I do think Lindsay kicks some ass here and is saluting Green in the very best way. Fleetwood had to feel like he hit the lottery with first Green and then less than a decade later Buckingham. Both brilliant guitarists with Buckinghams studio skills as an added bonus..
