When I followed the steps for draining the fuel line on my m340, in both install and removal the fuel lines never got drained and it would spray gas everywhere. Car would run for 10-15 seconds, shut off, and not turn back on. Yet there’s still fuel in the lines. Going to be installing the kit on my g80 now, so wondering if I’m missing any steps so that I don’t make my M3 smell like gas
There’s always a chance for some fuel in the line to spray out. Best is to leave the gas cap open for a bit for pressure to bleed off after running car so it shuts off without the fuel controller plugged in
@@protuningfreaks Having this same issue, i just opened the cap to see if that helps, Seemed like the gas was never gonna stop flowing so i gave up to do some research.
What is the difference for the X3M? I and two other members have installed it same as the video and cannot get the sensor to read. This is extremely frustrating.
If yours is a pre-LCI model the controller may need a firmware change that simply stitches the CANBus msg id from 0xEC to 0xED lile what’s done for Gen1 G series cars. It was recently discovered that some preLCI X3M/X4M cars already use 0xEC already so it was necessary to move it over. Contact support@protuningfreaks.com and they’ll advise accordingly.
@jakrieg did you ever figure out the solution im dealing with this right now too. You would think they would have info out about this so we dont tap into random wires 😒
I have a 2020 x3m and i cant figure out what wire i tap in to i tired con3 pin 1 and it doesnt work it actually turned my cluster off while driving. Do you know the location of the ignition wire for the 2020 x3m?
So with custom room the flex fuel kit adjust on the fly depend on what ethanol content is in the tank. Do we have to get an initial map flash first? Like a custom tune or we can just flash like a stage 2 and when we mix like e50 the software will automatically adjust to get that power?
Did @bootmod3 add an e30 OTS map for the BMW S63tu M5/M6 in version 2.0? Great content, awesome product; I am looking forward to expanding use of BM3 for my all BMW's.
On a b58 gen2 I say the highest e map is 50 is that the highest ethanol mix I should run even with the flex fuel? Or could I run full e? Also will full e make less than e50 on stock turbo?
With the multi map do I have to change the map to the ethanol content I have like say I have e30 do I change it to map 3 or can u just leave it how it is like the computer reads it so I should be good?
We actually explain it in the video but to reiterate, all map slots auto scale with ethanol present. The flex fuel sensor in the BM3 Flex Fuel kit communicates the ethanol content info to the engine computer which then in turn makes any of the map slots scale up or down in power depending on how much ethanol is in the tank. You need to run a flex fuel enabled map such as our OTS MultiMap or a custom tune with flex fuel functionality enabled.
I have a gen 1 b58 g30 I hold down the cruise control button in first position and tack goes to 85 RPM on pump 93 gas can this also be an install issue?
I was planning on installing this with a tune, but timing might get me this kit 1st. Can I install this kit and run it with the stock tune until my Femto unlock is done?
I like the fact the sensor is at the tank sensing the content there not at the rail, by the time the sensor at the rail sense the gas it already in the motor at the tank it will take at least 30sec to get to the motor, as there’s no return line. Any idea when this will be released for the G80/82?
For the G80, if we have the CustomROM is this just plug and play with muti-map or will we have to resend the ecu to femto for an update? Also when will this be coming?
Hi Dzenan, I have this kit installed on my BMW f82, to which I can read the ethanol content % on the bm3 app however can’t see this on the dash tact screen when I hold down the cruise control button on the left, is this an install error ?
I have a similar issue on gen 1 b58 g30 I hold down the cruise control button in first position and tack goes to 85 RPM on pump 93 gas can this also be an install issue?
As femto unlock doesn’t allow writing of the software portion it’ll be the same as for the G80 when we released it, meaning, you’ll need to resend the dme to femto for an update to get all the new goodies.
No 91 option for stage 2+ multimap:( Any way to get 91 added so we can scale and don't need to reflash to stage 2? Me and some others are in the same boat, owning a gen 1 b58 with the PTF flex kit in california stg 2+, looks like the lowest octane level is 93 for the multimap.
@@protuningfreaks If we want it for the X3m or x4m, do we select "BMW G-SERIES S58..." option? I don't see an X3M specific product or option and the F97/8 chassis isn't mentioned anywhere.
@@peterg6953 we’ll add the specific option for x3m x4m as the pre LCI models need slightly different firmware on the controller than all others. Everything else hardware wise is the same as all other S58
Buddy installed his (mine still on the way) but sometimes when he goes to read the content of tank it only goes up to the 1000k but when it does work he get the real reading i assume it’s something he is doing lol
