FLEX Stacked Lithium Batteries... ARE THEY POWERFUL?!

FLEX Stacked Lithium Batteries takes advantage of tech that sends it to a whole new level. Pouch cells open up the possibility for more than just a different form factor compared to round cells. Connection tabs open up far greater energy flow, resulting in higher power output and faster charging without producing dangerous levels of heat. To put FLEX's power claims to the test, we used their 3.5Ah, 6Ah, and 10Ah stacked batteries in their 5" angle grinder to cut in rebar, and then made the same cuts using the 5Ah, 8Ah, and 12Ah standard packs. Will the stacked lithium batteries beat out FLEX's existing power? Stay tuned to find out!

Thank you for another great review! ❤🙏 I do have a question about the lifetime warranty on the stacked battery. The lifetime covers only for three batteries... is that 3 per registration of each battery .... so if I have a total of five batteries and they all failed. Will Flex replace five batteries maximum 3 times or just three batteries for the account/name on the account?

I would have used a diamond cutting disc in this test because they don't wear down over 2 cuts.

I'm more curious about longevity of the new stacked batteries. Historically LiPo chemistry has had far fewer charge cycles than the LMC chemistry used in the cylindrical cells we've been getting in tool batteries.

Patrick Patterson, yeah well I got me a DeWalt 1.7Ah Power Stack Lithium Ion pouch cell battery powering my DeWalt DCF887 3 speed impact driver and DCD796 Hammer Drill. And I'm beating the tool abusing it in my jobsite, and I dropped my tool 3 times from 8 feet. And the battery is still working so far! No signs of malfunctions, leak or electrical problem, YET!

There the same but not the same as your lipo pack you would find in your rc there totally different tho there's been over 10 years of trial and engineering these flex packs claim to have if im not mistaken 300× charge cycle of your regular cylindrical 18650 or 21700 cell 🤔 I own several so only time will tell 😉

Would be great to see if that improvement carries over to circular saws and impact drills. Do they weigh alot less? More compact is certainly welcome
@TheRJISAWESOME
@TheRJISAWESOME 2 года назад
The weight is about the same as the existing batteries, but the power and performance is much greater. So the 5ah Cilindrical and 6ah Stacked weigh nearly identical, but the 6ah Stacked performs at a much higher level.

Thanks for the review Josh. Nice to see that the new stacked batteries will produce more power at lower Ah while keeping the physical detention smaller at the same time.

3:06 manipulation on figure, 4:59 its 5 times longer than 4:15 ?? difference is less than minute, and from figure you cane read, it's 3 or 4 timest faster. AND first cut on 3,5 ah stacked is slower than on 5ah standard, so its manipulation? worst cuting disc or something??

@luisinhoens90
@luisinhoens90 2 года назад
no because Flex operated on a higher voltage. That's why there are no adaptors available on the market. However, you can definitely use a Dewalt POWERSTACK battery (same technology) on your Milwaukee with an adaptor

@@luisinhoens90 haha! 🤣True!! Not unless you wanna Fry out your Expensive Milwaukee cordless tool. I keep telling to all my fellow contractors in the jobsite. Quit dreaming Milwaukee will never have Stacked lithium battery technology. Not unless Milwaukee wants to get Sued by Flex company for 600 billion dollars. That Flex company have their Stacked lithium battery technology in the US Patent. It is protected. It is regards as Intellectual property. Cannot be imitated and copied without consequences and repercussions. Milwaukee and TTI knows that. What Milwaukee and TTI Ridgid, Ryobi and Hart should do right now is to go back in the drawing board and science lab 🧪🧫🧪🧫 to create their own new battery Flatform, I guess Milwaukee can make partnership with Caterpillar, caterpillar now have Graphene Battery technology. I heard Graphene is much better than any Lithium Ion batteries that exist.

No kidding! I have those batteries! Flex 24V 3.5Ah, 6Ah and 10Ah stacked lithium batteries! And my Flex Quick Eject Impact Driver destroyed my cousin's Milwaukee gen3 Fuel impact driver w/ 3.0Ah, 6.0Ah And 8.0Ah high output 21700cell battery. No kidding! Also on my Flex Turbo Hammer Drill, my DeWalt dcd998 FA got beaten, my cousin's Milwaukee gen3 hammer drill w/ 8.0Ah high output battery got beaten too!

Oh shit! Seriously?! I hearing a lot from Flex fanboys a lot now days especially in my jobsite. Saying that the Flex is a Milwaukee Killer, I even saw my fellow carpenters running the test, my buddy got his Flex quick eject impact driver and the Turbo Hammer Drill a week ago from Lowe's, then he got the Flex's 24V 6.0Ah Stack Lithium Ion pouch cell battery for his impact driver and he challenge the other guy with the Milwaukee gen3 Fuel impact driver with 8.0Ah High output battery 21700 cell. They run some 10" Timberlok screws twice, on pressure treated 4x8 and the Milwaukee got beaten. They also run the test again with 10" long by 1/2" dia lag bolt and 3 times and the Milwaukee got beaten again 3 times Both of them run hot! Shit! I wouldn't run my impact driver in that kind of battery I mean I'm ok and good with 3 or 4Ah battery. I noticed that the more AH battery your tool is running with the hotter the tool gets.

Bought that same combo on Ebay and like a seen from Jason the horror came in in black goo leaking from all batteries. Called Flex and since I bought them online and not Lowes they will not replace them. Problem is that they did not make it public about their horrible battery crisis and they ONLY helped people that would call in so f*&^* everyone else who did not call in because they didn't know about flex replacing the bad batteries. Replacement batteries are very expensive, I just bought be a drill with cord instead for $40.

It's all about time over hours. A half a second for grinding doesn't seem like much, but after making hundreds of cuts, it adds up. Circ saws, impacts, hammer drills, and rotary hammers will likely benefit the most from this technology

Check out the FLEX Faceoff and other influences repeating the same tests they did. DeWalts power stack couldn't even compete in some of the tests, even with M18 batteries. It's a good battery, but it seems like DeWalt may have cut a couple corners to get it out faster.
