I didn't know what emersion was until I knew it was immersion 😂But for those who don't know what what emersion is, it's the act of emerging from water............. Possibly relevant?
I don't know about a career mode but I don't see why it shouldn't have flight lessons all the way to ATPL based on a real-world flight training program from a renowned flight school! The old ground school training in FSX is fine to introduce the simulator but is quite lacking in content in terms of real-world flight training...
@@ericsharp6876 Yeah but the flying school also entitles you to actually legally fly an airplane in the real world, which this sim does not but to actually be called a simulator in the first place it has to simulate real world aspects... for which FSX was clearly lacking in the flying school department but was somewhat mitigated via 3rd party addons.
Just watching the trailer, then the preview shots in this video is blowing my mind, it's pretty hard to distinguish some of these previews from Reality. It'll be a pretty damn good way to see the world during all this Covid stuff!
You realize they’re playing it on i9 with 2080ti and maxed out graphics right? We have yet to see a legitimate video of actual gameplay from a Norma PC. This thing is going to run on lower end PCs but it sure as hell won’t look this good.
@@LooterLoser, I live just outside of Memphis international and I can assure you that there is plenty of air traffic over my neighborhood. Its mostly FedEx and military since this is the FedEx hub and their is a air guard base, but yes their is definitely plenty of traffic here.
wouldn’t this be used for terrorists for planning hijacks and stuff like that or learn how to fly and crash your plane into skyscrapers and stuff like that?
1 AM the information is already all publicly available, through plenty of websites and you can even monitor atc radio traffic. Also think about it how do you schedule a flight you pick a starting destination and an ending one and there is public information on what routes there are to get in between those airports and most airlines use specific ones for specific planes. And since you get the name of the plane when you are trying to buy a ticket you can figure out all of the following:Departure time Arrival time Departure airport arrival airport airframe type estimated passengers estimated crew layout of the aircraft (including security features) most likely route including waypoint names live tracking of the aircraft estimated time at which it will reach those waypoints and much much more.
5:10 “But look, if you don’t start badly you’ll never start...” and that’s how I got into flight sims with FS2002. I saw that box at EBGames (now GameStop) sitting there forever with no one buying it. Until one day I said “what da hell, I can probably learn a thing or 2 from it.” and bought it. Never regretted it, started badly but started learning until I got good enough to start challenging my friends online for landings in remote locations in the Pacific Northwest on the ol’ MSN servers.
Beginner right here and planning on finally going for my private pilot's license. I planned to do it back in March, however, due to Covid, those plans have been pushed out for the forseeable future. Pre-ordered making this my first flight sim and planning on using it as an aide. Therefore I'm all for having tutorials made by you that could help me get started! Definitely a great idea.
I've never played realistic flight simulators, so I'm pretty much a newbie. I've played alot of stuff like Elite Dangerous and such though. But I will buy this when it comes out, as it looks amazing. So I will be following your channel and would love to see tutorial videos. :)
The beauty of realistic flight simulator is, you can pretty much use video tutorials for different simulator (including real ones) of the same aircraft to learn how to fly it. The problem is as always, keyboard button mapping. But most flying in the sim are done using mouse clicks and joystick inputs.
That makes two of us 🙂. I paid for the game a few days ago ( release date is now 18th of August), and I think I must have acted too quickly, due to the excitement. On going through the table of content (as per the 3 versions), I noticed that it was like being "... penny wise, pound foolish...", getting the basic one. I placed a call through to the customer service center, and got my order cancelled. I got the premium deluxe version, and I am just counting down the days now 😉
I totally agree with this video. Since 2006 FSX has really been therapeutic for me. I've always been obsessed and absolutely fascinated by aviation. This simulator is going to be monumental for the next 10 years.
Many thanks from Canada Sir!! And it's Good to Know that We Are Getting this Information From a "Real" Pilot. Much Appreciated and as usual , Good Details & Very Informative.Great Job!!!
I'm the same, but I'm worried that getting 90FPS is going to pretty difficult with these graphics plus the CPU load will be high as well, I'm not a fan of 45 ASW. I've been using TrackIR with a 35 inch monitor lately just to prepare and it's not too bad but VR would be the the bees knees.
@@ht6501 Hope TrackIR is supported, if not that is a killer for me and will stick with XP11. I can't go back to using KB arrows or a hat switch for views. I am too used to TrackIR.
I'm an experienced XPlane simmer and if this FS2020 is so promising and jaw dropping I will definitely purchase the premium version from day one to support the developers for this magnificent work. One thing I would expect and wishing to see is aircraft's systems depth, something like FFA320. FFA320 or Toliss titles are superb and if FS2020 manage to offer such low level detail in systems, wow ! This would be the Sim of the century !
Love hearing others talk about how flight simming as kids created a passion they followed through with in real life. I played flight sim in the 90s as a young kid and eventually became a CFI-I as well. Equally stoked for this game. You have a new subscriber... looking forward to more vids!
In the meantime you could try out flight simulators like rise of flight and DCS. Those are free, you only pay for additional aircraft. I recommend you give those a whirl to find out if you like flight sims.
Very first flight I did in FS '98 was from Antananarivo, Madagascar to South pole precisely, in a Cessna aircraft at real time. Took me a day and a half to reach there.
I dont think im alone in saying us flight sim lovers would love some tutorial videos. This looks amazing. Im sold. I have officially decided to plan my new computer build around Microsoft's Flight Sim 2020.
My son has over 10,000 hours as a commercial pilot. He still uses his (old) FSim to do the approaches before his exams and he always passes with flying colors. Practice in setting the radios and Navs also helped him pass his first tests to become a pilot.
I've been thinking about getting into flight sims for a while now, but I've been waiting for this exact degree of realism before investing the time and money. Only thing I want now is full VR support. That would make it a no-brainer, and I would gladly update my system to whatever level is necessary to run it.
Not me. They could have easily made this compatible with WIndows 7,8, etc. but they chose to create a monopoly and force people to buy windows 10. B.s. Just another example of strong arming the public to upgrade.
@@jimsmith7326 wtf, windows 7 released over 10 years ago and windows 8 is shit. There's no way they would've been able to make this compatible with those OSs and looked the same, that's what FSX was for...
In the early 90s, my uncle (who worked as an IT guy) introduced me to PC gaming on his 386. I remember three games I couldn't stop playing: Commander Keen 4, Lemmings and JetFighter 2. I haven't played many flight sims since, but I still remember how magical it was just flying in that virtual world.
Skipper8472 I was the same as you, but once you realise that the “real atc” are just playing a game (and if they really annoy you you can just tell them to piss off) too it doesn’t seem so onerous
@@Smokeyr67 as a certified VATSIM ATC, I am worried that VATSIM will not be compatible with this new sim.. :( at least there is no word that MS even approached VATSIM organization. seems like the community is most likely to split between VATSIM and the new FS2020 built-in multiplayer. whether or not real ATC will be able to assume ATC positions within FS2020 is unknown to me yet.
Kinda.. It's fun for the occasional flight; but if you're going to get further with specific controllers (radio panels, flight panels, throttle quadrants etc) you'll want to see them irl. At least until your hands are tracked precisely in game and you can setup external controllers on their exact location, corresponding to the plane's.
@@endoflevelboss I think you're thinking of the wrong HMD - given that it isn't out yet and the only person to preview it (MRTV) is saying that the tracking is great - not quite up to the standard of lighthouse tracking on some other headsets but perfectly good for sims and most other applications.
@@jaguarke069 If you fly in VR you don't need all those controllers, it is much more engaging flipping switches in the real 3d environment. You will need a HOTAS of some sort though fo the basic control of the plane (could even be done with xbox controller, but more fun with HOTAS). Just my opinion.
No need for a Hotas. I fly my birds with VR controllers and pedals only. Just hold the controller vertically and there's hardly a difference with a Yoke or stick.
Bought it, played flight sim right back to the first one, even got nerdy with flight plans and programming the computer so i'm really happy that its all included.
Welcome! Remember, every aircraft is different. For most aircraft is a detailed beginners guide available on RU-vid, take a look. A new game doesn’t change the way you pilot the aircraft. Have fun!
@@jarnoh5227 Right on I'm pretty excited. Just read it drops next month. Wonder if I need to upgrade to an Xbox One X? I only play on console which is why I haven't gotten into flight sim until now. Think console will be a serious downgrade from the PC experience for this game?
@@Lance1972 I have seen a review of what Xbox you would need... The Xbox one will be the lowest of the low specs for FS2020 (everything set to minimum) - The Xbox one X will be more like the standard Specs for FS2020 (still set very low) - The new Xbox X due out some time will be between the standard specs and prefered specs (still not running at its best). If you want the very best of FS2020 then you will have to buy a high spec computer for about £3000. I had better start saving up especially as the Premium Delux version of FS2020 costs $119.99 (Less than P3Dv5 standard licence by the way which is £199).
I've pre-ordered. I played FS way back in the late 80's/early 90's but haven't touched one since. So technically a newbie...so videos to help me learn would be appreciated!
As someone who used to create sim graphics for a major commercial/military simulator company 35 years ago, I'm simply in awe with what they've done with this and cannot wait for August 18th.
Since you asked, I'm beginner again after about nine weeks of flying lessons between college classes almost 30 years (and even back then I never got all the way to a full license) and now I plan to find a place to train in a Cessna 172 when the world opens back up. I'm watching videos about Flight Simulator because I'm hoping it will help as a way to get all the thinking and understanding of the relationship between the controls burned into my memory a bit so I'm not so overwhelmed when I get in the plane. I'm pretty committed to this plan, because I loved flying back then, and now I'll have the time and money to take a better shot at it. I'll get a good computer to run my sim, and some decent control hardware. I'm subscribed to your channel and I'll be looking for updates and advice along the way.
tl;dr: A simulator game saved my life! I hope this new game can also save lifes. A few years ago I bought a Logitech G27 racing wheel and let one of my sisters play "Need for Speed: Shift" which is, for the most part, a simulator. She was surprised on how easily you lose control of the car if you abruptly turn the wheel to one side and then start overcompensating from side to side. A few months later, she lost control in a highway in real life and began to overcompensate from side to side, but she remembered from the game how to regain control (make smooth, slow wheel movements) and avoided an accident. My mother and I were in that car and we were saved because my sister had that "virtual training". It's the cheapest PC accessory I have bought in my life. Piloting a private plane is very dangerous (20 times more dangerous than riding a car) and most accidents are due to a pilot error (I have read that it's common to stall while landing). I hope this game can save lifes, as that Need for Speed game did for me.
im sure that you wont be looking at xplane anymore at all. btw, vr is too heavy for the game. vr will be supported when gpu's progress with better apis for VR to be implemented on.
I don't know about anybody else, but my plan is to fly around the world in this sim, logging each flight and starting each flight from where I landed last time, using the current weather and so forth with no shortcuts.
I am a newbie to flight simulators (this will be my first) but I grew up playing ace combat (3 - present), blazing angels, and lots of space flight games (Eve Valkarye, Wong commander, etc.). I am really looking forward to your newbie videos, this preview was very informative and I am excited to start flying! Thanks for the great content! 🙌
What an excellent preview! Makes me want this flight sim even more than before. I just subbed to your channel and would love to have tutorials for absolute beginners.
I have never been into flight simulator but my dad played it since i remember my self (not going to count how many). I have nerver understood what kept him to sit infront of the PC to me it seemed really boring. Now i see this flight sim 2020 and i am thinking maybe i will try it....I will really need your help at the begining ....it seems really complicated to be honest.
hey, I‘m from germany so my english is not the best. I wann this flight sim because I love to be in other spaces, but i can‘t do this in reallife so I hand to do this in a sim. So i would looking foward to get these simulator. thats my reasons why and yea thank you so much for your info videos of the flight sim.
This will be interesting - I've pre-order the premium deluxe version given the additional planes and airports are worth it. I've tried sims in the past but I never really liked them, probably because I did have a PPL 40 years ago and the compromises apparent in the other sims made them seem to me like games. Plus as you said, an add-on for this and that makes the configuration a beast to manage - here it's baked into the base system so that's much better. Looking forwards to Aug 18th. Cheers
Absolute beginner here. Your video has made me definitely want to buy this sim. I look forward to learning more with your videos. I am totally excited about flying my first plane!!
Hey man, good to see you back, and loving the impressions from a pilots point of view. Love this, time for a pint of avgas and a chicken enchilada.. we'll see how how much the 152 jumps around after leaving an open field and fly over a city with all the hot pavement on departure. Cant wait.
@@GripperSim I cant wait to see them. I'm actually thinking about trying my hand at this now that I'm retarded, retired. Long way from super 8 movies in high school and public access cable shows. You got me beat though
I had flight training in college (30 years ago) and like most people ran out of money before getting my license. I have not done any flying or simulators since then but I can't wait to setup FS2020. Looking forward to those tutorials. Thanks!
Speaking of sound. I took the Icon A5 on a tour of NYC. I water landed in the lake in Central Park. Turned off the engines. Listened to the water lapping against the hull along with the distant sounds of the city. Far off horns and traffic. Amazing realism.
Yes sir, beginner here. Once I found out about FS2020 a few weeks ago, I bought the Thrustmaster HOTAS 4 and downloaded DCS and Xplane11 to prep for MSFS2020.
I can only hope that MSFS 2020 will *lure* new aspiring pilots into actual flight training, as I am a commercial pilot halfway through my flight instructor training! Worried that this stupid pandemic will discourage people from learning to fly a real aircraft, and there will be no students to train! ☹️
After I retire and have loads of time on my hand, I may consider this. My time is eaten up by so many other things right now. Hopefully my faculties haven't degraded to the point where flying isn't possible.
Might wanna take an engineering or airplane mechanics course or two if you wanna know how they work. This stuff is to learn how they fly! Woohoo... go get some wings!!! See you up in the air.
30:28 don't you mean "immersion" rather than "emerson"? Immersion means becoming completely involved in something. Emersion means like for example "emerging from the water".
Flight sim made me fall in love for aviation. I started playing flight simulation in FSX when I was 10 and now, I’m 20 and I’m passing my CPL + ATPL to become a real pilot ! Video Games can change your life. Hope the new simmers will enjoy this game as much as I will and I did and maybe discover a new passion for aviation. Follow your dreams !
I fly into Renton, WA USA (KRNT) as an Instructor all the time, and the replication seen briefly here is stunning! Seattle looks spot on too. Can’t wait for this sim :)
It is the graphics that will make me buy it, all about how it feels. The very first Flight Unlimited had great feel. Out flying on a sunny day in a Pitts.
I've never played a flight simulator or piloted a real airplane. Of course, I've been a passenger many times. I have a degree in geography. With that, I've seen my house from the air many times. It's just a roof. Not really fancy or pretty. What I'd like to see is the geography of the rest of the world, most of which I will never see with my real eyes. If they can get this working in a VR headset, this could be the way to see the eye candy of the world for folks who could never afford the time away or the expense involved. My house is boring. I live there every day. I wanna see the world!
I'm an experienced flight simmer (started with FS 2.0 on the Apple 2). However, I have a friend that wants to play this flight simulator. I think the tutorials would be good for him.
im looking forward to this feature as well. i can get the plane up and flight around and somewhat land. but i would hope this allow me to learn the instruments in detail. just flying in general in detail the proper way
I am a few years old in the x-plane world. When I caught wind of this: I pre-ordered the ultimate edition. I am certainly interested in tutorials from you. I am always interested in new sources for information. Some simmers ramble on for 10~15 minutes while sitting on the runway before they actually begin the "tutorial". I'd love to see your more straightforward ones. Also noted: You are an actual pilot, so that is a plus. I can't wait! 6 days left.
Excellent preview thanks. Having not used FSX for over a year, I will pretty much have to learn how to fly again, so I'm looking forward to starting anew in a Cessna 152. The scenery looks astonishing.
Everything you need for general aviation flying, yes. VFR scenery, pretty good weather system apparently, real world traffic, even the auto-generated airports should be fine. Expect planes like the A320 or the 747 to be simplified, if you want something like that realistic to the last switch, you need to wait for PMDG or FSLabs payware (and yes, it will cost almost as much as the whole MSFS - but still less than a single hour on a full motion sim, so it still pays off).
It's a flight simulator, not an arcade game. It will not have a career mode because that would require a story/narrative to drive it forward. It would also require an end goal. Simulators are meant to replicate the real world and its conditions as best possible. However, I've played everything from FS2000 and onward, and if history is anything to go by, a scenario mode will most likely be included just as they always have been. Doubtful that a flight school training mode would be included outside of the tutorial mode, considering they'd have to consult with all of the various aviation bureaus from each major nation, get approval from them and then implement all of their methods, which is just way too much. As Reaction Review said, this is a simulator that anyone can pick up, not just hardcore aviation enthusiasts.
Can I just mention your last bullet point in the title/introduction sequence please? The word is Immersion, rather than Emersion. I only put this in in case you wish to correct it... Great video and review by the way!
My son’s best friend from college and I have been playing call of duty weekly for the past ten years. Sometimes it feels like your introduction. I reflect on the amount of time wasted and wonder what we could have accomplished with all of that time. Then I put it out of my mind and go back to playing the game. Hahahaha.
I have ordered it and I am a beginner for flying. This will be the most amazing simulator ever. But as you said I need to learn how first before I can really enjoy it.
Great job on the video! You explained everything so much more than other videos I've seen. You kept my attention through the entire presentation which rarely happens. Looking forward to more, Thanks
You've said everything I've pretty much thought when it comes to other flight sims. I'm also in the alpha and currently doing my PPL. After using all the other sims since 2014 and primarily using X-Plane since 2014, I've already made up my mind that this is my main sim for fun and additional real world flight practice.
