BEST flying foam Corsair in the planet ! Flightline should get a medal 🏅 for bringing such a killer Corsair to all us Warbird fans..Bubble top or the Birdcage variant, you simply have to own this airplane if you fly foam electric and love WWll warbirds ! Rich, that was one great save, when you got smacked on the canopy by that wind 👍
Great work Rich....thanks for not editing out when the wind freaked you out a little. My instructor when I learned to fly told me that if I waited for a perfect day, I'd never fly. To see a pilot of your caliber get pushed around a bit makes the rest of us sport pilots feel a little better!
Rich Great flight review ! Keep this bird out of the sun between flights if you can , a big FMS sun shade works, dark foam planes tend to get a " gator skin " look from the heat . Fun fun warbird ! Flightline and freewing has really brought some excellent planes and edf's to foam fans! Blue sky's !
@@mikessi Too often with too many models the horns on the servos are too long and it kills all the resolution because people dial the travel back... In most cases it's better to have the arm shorter and have more travel to take advantage of all the fine control of the resolution of the servo:)
Love that Admiral Carbon 5100 is THE battery to buy! I'm at the point that I won't buy a new plane unless it can carry this battery! Best clouds for a flight video! Great flyin!
Rick - Glad to see you! GREAT Video as always. I agree that Flightline hit it out of the park on this bird. The quality and finish is unbelievable, no gatoring out of the box and you even have to look close to see it's foam. I got the Bubble Top just before the price increase and it's one of my favorites. I'm going to follow your suggestion of adding more weight to move my CG forward. This bird is so visually pleasing to fly especially with gear down on a carrier approach. Thanks for sharing! Good Flying!
Rich...I have that receiver and telemetry on my 1450 Airfield Corsair...you can add voice alerts to the amp reading screen and it will call out amps used to you at whatever interval you desire. Never wonder about where you are in the pack again and never look at the TX.
Great review as always! Actually I became my Dynam F4U Corsair from Motion RC today. I'm looking forward for maiden a lot! 😍 Corsairs will be always Icons between planes... 🙂
Cool, I live in Brevard. Didn't know people fly at the dump. Good to know. I'm not far from there. I usually fly at that big park with all the big soccer fields up in north Titusville.
Hey Rich, please do that! My 1450 mm is easy to see far away, but I keep it closer then I need for orientation. Bigger, badder, Corsairs rock. Now what about a bigger P-40b( bigger then 1400mm)😎
Great video, I am building my corsair also, I like your suggestion of replacing the elevator connector with the e z connector, Do you remember what size is it in order to fit the 2 elevator pushrods in one? Thanks
Hi RC informer, I was thinking about the text on screen being on the small side when you're flying at the same time, it's a pity the radio manufacturers don't utilise mobile phone tech. so you get voice active parameters over say a mono earpiece!
My flightline birdcage corsair is my new favorite electric warbird along with my FMS Tigercat . Awesome video Sir and did I hear correctly you say Navarre dump ? As in Navarre Ohio ? I fly out at North Canton Hawks .
Hi Rich, Nice video, helpful and informative. I just picked up this Corsair and setting it up on my DX9. I'm curious to know what rate and flap settings you use on this bird?
@@RCINFORMER Thanks Rich. Do you know your flap settings in Spektrum %? I usually use 100%/80-85%/ 70-75% for Hi, Mid, Low rates on control surfaces. Your's on this Corsair?
Great review Rich, I have two questions: 1. How do you split the rudder and tail wheel servos to use the stick and the knob for trimming the tail wheel? 2. Carbon interferes with radio signal, could the carbon battery block radio signal at certain angles?
Hi Rich, great review thanks. I bought one of these V3 Corsairs and have been trying to figure out a servo anomaly. With everything hooked up in the proper way the flaps servos don’t work. Everything else does. When swapping the flap servo pigtail into the elevator receiver slot the flaps do work. Then checking the receiver slot itself for the slaps, spare servo do work. So the receiver it is good. Just wondering if you know of a discussion line this elsewhere and if there is a workaround. Thanks!
Rich, here is my write up in longer form, thank you for any ideas: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?1512298-FMS-F4U-Corsair-1700mm/page709#post49904633
They are about a draw... That being said, the FMS 1700mm Corsair has a slightly more scale feel, possibly because it is bigger. The problem that the FMS 1700mm Corsair has is that it is nearly 10 years old and it is simply and older design.... I may have to do a comparison video of the two planes in a future video:) There should be a FMS V2 Corsair coming out here soon:)
Hi Rich, great video, flying and review as always! I'm thinking of getting a large-scale Corsair and am divided between this and the 1700mm FMS version. What are your thoughts? There is a significant cost difference between the two here in Australia with FMS products being more available. Flightline/Freewing are difficult to get... Motion RC need to open an Australian store... I'd be happy to run it... 😉
Albury rc have freewing now mate in aus I'd go the flightline corsair it's about half the weight to start with it's a lot newer too the fms is old now get the flightline corsair bud
@@andrewbosman2883 another one now mate as well as hobby tech toys in Western Australia that's where I got my Corsair from they sell freewing and fightline now as well
Compared to the FMS Corsair 1700mm which would you recommend? I saw you reviewed both. I'm interested in getting one or the other. Great reviews by the way!
@@RCINFORMER Oh alright its confirmed then. it only has one landing light on the left. I find that odd as I have never seen that configuration on realsized aircraft
@@rogerd4559 It is a little odd to see these days but most american war birds of that era only had 1 landing light on the left wing. They also were not always mounted in the leading edge of the wing on early models but rather in an 8 inch diameter retractable lens on the bottom of the wing usually near the landing gear doors.
I like the newness of the FL CORSAIR and it's more modern/current design.... it is also less expensive & flys great! That being said, I prefer the slightly larger size and scale flying characteristics of the FMS 1700MM Corsair, but it is a nearly 10 year old design. To add even more to the chaos, FMS will be releasing a V3 1700mm Corsair soon! It will probably blow the doors off of any other corsair out there, However it will be a larger but more expensive airplane as well:)
I do sometimes and when I do I mostly use one setting... The more flap you use with this airplane the lower the nose is on landing and a greater possibility of nosing airplane over on its back.
My gut feel is that a large, complex, $400 plus model like this needs a competent and confident "advanced intermediate" pilot. Verify correct motion of ailerons and all control surfaces before takeoff.
He wasn’t the only one to fly the great aircraft, I fell in Love with the graceful bird as a young lad right after wwii I flew shotgun I an F4 ,hh43 chopper and a a B17 plus )4 years in the USAF.
