We used to run very similar machines in the sixties , called them strawing machines they were converted from Horse drawn to tractor towed. Thankyou from the UK .
The term you were referring to is “Product Placement “ much like the big soft drink displays at the grocery store. Great video and great insight into your farm and business.
Thanks for your outstanding video. Was very interesting. I like the machines you got that flips the hay over to dry and air better. I can see where this process really makes a difference. You have a lot of really good looking hay. The machine you run to move and re stack the hay does great, I am amazed at how fast you move the levers without looking. Of course you have done that for years. I would have hay everywhere-ha. Thanks for your rundown on how you market the hay. Interesting. Guess that is it for now. Appreciate your time in doing the video for us so we can follow along. You all take care and be safe. Thanks. Iowa farm boy from years ago. PS. You are getting me educated on a hay farm. Enjoying it. Thanks.
Wow that fluffer is so kool never seen something like that if I saw that coming towards me I'd think it was a monster and have to run away like a little school girl lol
you run that squeeze like its an extension of your self so smooth . Welcome back from Vacation! (edit) i remember them 50 days of 100+ heat sucked so much
Greetings from Scotland! - just discovered you via Emma's. That Flip n Fluffer. Just what Granpaw needed - way back in the 60's. it was a 2 machine operation ( the Spider wheels to turn over and windrow, a "Wuffler" to shake it all up and loosen for the Baler ) over here - weather was always difficult to work along with. we have heavy 2 ton crops per acre of ryegrass with some Timothy and Cocksfoot according to location and end use - cattle sheep and Red Deer. Nowadays there is less of the aggressive cocksfoot and the TImothy. Rotary Multipurpose tedders are used which can also have a go at windrowing. ( just like your own Claas) NOw for Silage we use the same big wide rotaries as you guys have. and Hay is becoming a rarity, locally due to weather influence, even although some bale what I call grass STRAW which is past its best for nutrition. and is being made much later than we ever considered to be the hay season.( June to July). So you are lucky to have a much longer season. ( something like grass is always greener on the other side of the fence )
Wow. Those are heavy crops to get to dry down. Yes, that flip and fluff would have helped a ton! Or two tons! Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoy the videos.
When you were talking in the Squeeze, I couldn’t help but think of Cops when they go to a new officer and they do that thing where the officer is talking and they don’t show him actually talking. I don’t know why that’s what I take away from that but I’m loving the vids
My cows would love that hay. I have found over the years that animals will eat more than what people think they will. We think we know what they like but I have cleaned up trash field and intended to use that trash hay for erosion control in their pasture only to see them leave good bales to go eat the trashy bales.
The last time I worked on a farm baling hay was in 1967. When there were 2 of us working on the truck loading bales (one driving and one loading on the back), we were each paid 3 cents a bale. I guess inflation has caught up with the hay baling business.
I like that fluffing machine, but how does it work in hay with fragile leaves? But I remember when I was younger I would have to help put up around 44,000 square bales every year and we didn't have a bale bale picker machine. We did everything with a bale sweep head on a tractor and stacked by hand. Needless to say we never got everything in before the snow came and we were out there chipping them out in the freezing snow. Lol fun times
Now this is one sweet, sweet video. Just like I want to see. Machines running and you giving us a lot of detail on the process. Great job!! And yes, thumbs up.
I've fed some teff here in Nebraska to my goats, they seemed to really like it. Not many have raised it around here so i've only gotten to "try" it. It's a wonder it didn't like the heat where it is from Ethiopia
Hi Trevor I saw you with the Millennial Farmer and got such a chuckle out of you so I subscribed to your channel. I am curious how many bales of hay do you sell in a year?
Crazy how different things are from Michigan to AZ lol. We have never even seen a 3 string bale.. and we get 4$ for a 60# bale lol but we are hole sale not retail I guess haha
Somehow I knew you would be with your main squeeze 🤣. That flip and fluffer is cool, never seen one of them. How are the new balers working out for yall. Hope hay season is good for yall. We are getting ready to kick off our hay season in a few days hopefully
@@BalesHayFarmandRanch well Joy stick provid confort to command 5 to 6 two ways cylinders. 3 fonctions at a time with electro hydraulique valves. That what we have on our telehandler manitou.
@@BalesHayFarmandRanch Just the grass. The hay bob sets the hay up so it feeds more evenly no roping and its easer on the baler.NH 166 windrow inverter works well on alfalfa .
@@BalesHayFarmandRanch Hey thanks for replying! The best example I can think is 1:39 to approx 1:42 where you can hear the audio is mashed together. Thinking time is great plus it means you don't have to put as much content per video! I really like what you do and your sense of humour, keep up the great work!
My dad and granddad used to raise alfalfa and grass hay difference between then and now. Grass was for horses and mules Alfalfa was for cows... my dad said that for working stock horses and mules alfalfa was too high in protein and was to hot a Feed to give to working stock. Now adays most horse people want alfalfa but they don't work them always in the heat....
6 men that load hay by hand into vehicles, and constantly clean. 3 office employees that answer phones and work the front desk. Wholesale is 2 guys. 1 squeeze. 1 office person.
you dont sell on what protein in the hay ??????? only on coulure and your looking????? see some dealer do that in US may bee they are big exporter??????
So I’m really trying to get to that point. But right now I’m stuck in a hay squeeze loading trucks. We can’t find good help. Once I get someone to take my spot, I’ll have more time to manage equipment and see it operate.
My grand kids and I watch and love your site. But you killed a rattlesnake on one of your shows and they all started crying and we had to stop watching I understand death. Have seen a lot but they considered it unessesary. We quit watching for awhile. But we would love if you could warn us in advance and I could distract the brats. Luca
