Hi Gang! You have some TOP OF THE LINE haying equipment!! My first experience with balers was in 1950. Our neighbor bought an International baler that produced 40-60 pound bales tied with string. Prior to that we and he shocked hay, and or bundled it. I didn't enjoy haying one bit! We had a lot of rattle snakes in our area, and of course they sought the cool shade under the bales!..... Had to be CAREFUL!!! Ever once in awhile, a snake was run through the baler, and survived, and was sticking out of the bale! BOY,.... THEY were all kinds of PISSED OFF!!! A long handled sharp hoe was part of your haying equipment!, along with leather gloves and hay hooks. Love your videos and commentary! Best Wishes, and GOD BLESS!

Currently it is as dry in east-Germany as it as where you are. Some fields are already burning... Meanwhile west-Germany was facing havy rain with more than 150 liters per square meter, which is twice the rain of a whole month. Hundreds of people died in the floodings and currently hundrets of farmers and other voluntairs are helping out there. I guess rain is as bad distributed as money...

Monarchs lay their eggs on the underside of the leaves. The caterpillars that hatch feed only on milkweed. One plant like that probably doesn't have any activity on it, but find a good patch of milkweed and you could easily find 50 eggs in a square yard.

Thanks for working extra hard in the heat and while you don’t feel very good from your knee I’m sorry Brother I had 3 surgeries on my knee and I was able to get an abundance of multiple pain meds during that time. It’s good to be safe about meds but it’s important to be able to have some during extreme times for the strain on your heart from the pain. It’s important for your heart health to not be squirming in pain. Be safe and focus on things that distract you well until it’s better and absolutely do not push too hard and destroy more like I did exactly. ❤️😏🖖🏼🇺🇸

I live on the Monarch migration route in Ohio. I had a cubic, metric crap-ton of common milkweed. And I used to have massive quantities of butterflies. I used to keep an acre or so fallow just for milkweed for the butterflies. Gave away the seeds for kids to grow their own. I could walk out in the field and several fresh hatchlings would land on me cause the trees were already 3 deep. Or maybe I just look like a tree. Or maybe a 1/2 hour old monarch cant navigate worth a crap. But the last 4 years or so I only see maybe 1 or 2 monarchs all season. Sad.

Hey Sonne Farms! Thanks for giving me a healthy dose of "smiler's cramps" through out this video! And to top it all off, Phil. 4:6 covered even/as well the Eternal aspects of this temporal life with its ups and downs. At 74 and a farmer in some way shape or form all my life I can appreciated every aspect of this video. Haying was one thing I prided myself in and the smell of good alfalfa being made is gleefully intoxicating. My sister six years older than me, cut hay with a team of horses at age 9. Nowadays parents would be trifling with jail pulling off that kind of "help desperation!" Mercy. I trust, hope, pray your knee heals up perfectly. We had a good wet spring with plenty of rain but haven't had much rain either in last 5 wks. Volume of hay in the fields is down to other years. We did get 6/10's of an inch rain 4 days ago. I know baleing is one of your favorite jobs Brian. Do you like it even more now with the new machine ? It looked very efficient as we watched it from the Drone.

WHITE LEGS!? Keep Dad's and Uncle Jeff's shirts on, if not, you will blind everything west of the Mississippi. And that is all I have to say about that.

We use to call it farmer tan. My dad's face, neck, hands & arms to where his sleeves started were well tanned. Everywhere else he was glow in the dark pale. He never worked in shorts.

May Father was a roofer all his work life... He had a two tone body, white legs and a brown upper body. He got a lot of looks when we went to the beach.

Enjoying this video after watching a small-patch Maine farmer mow his grass with a scythe, turn the windrows with a hayfork, and baling his hay by hand in a home-made wooden hay compressor.

Killer drone footage! Something relaxing watching the baler and accumulator work. So much easier than stacking small squares on the hay wagon and up in the loft for my Grandfather when I was a teenager in the 80's. 😎👍 〽️

Our daily highs have be around 30 C ( 86 F ) but two weeks ago we hit 44 C ( 111 F ) for about 3 days. Our beer is all going to have a toasted aroma from this years crop of Barley.

I hate that the fire destroyed your grass, but you had a good attitude about it. When things go wrong I try to always look at the situation like it's bad but it could've been worse. Hopefully you get some rain soon.

When I was young my grandpa told me milkweed is bad for cattle, we always had dairy cows, after seeing this I looked it up, it can be toxic to cattle.

I was told some type of weeds can taint the taste of milk if eaten

Sort of ironic - you'd think with a name like milkweed it'd be essential to dairy farms!

The accumulator is slick. Wonder how it would work on a hillside>

It would be great on a hillside as long as you don't mind if the bales all roll to the bottom. 😉

I play so much farming simulator 22 that I am not even sure which thumbnails are real farms vs gaming ones anymore LOL. I am glad that by searching for fs22 videos that I'm getting shown a lot more real farmers channels now. So interesting. Keep up the good work, Sonne Farms :)
