Steve,Thanks for the 11 min. heads-up to your more astute and future listeners.A friend, Keith Williams, who I’ve known for years and who you may know, swears by the same format. He a very smart guy who knows his faithfuls and yet to be’s and delivers brilliantly.Handles different subject matter but u get the drift. thanks Rocky.....to me it was and is all about the Turn ons, and learning some thing different, and not following mainstream and hits. That is what my channel is about, and with many Stones heads subscribed, I hope they look into some of my other vids. not sure about who Keith W is.

Doing a Documentary on Beggars Banquet would be great, I am always interested in Brian Jones as are many others. He was a talented rhythm guitarist, Most of the films you see on Brian just speak of his drug Issues and his eccentric personality with out ever touching on his great rhythm playing. Listen to any of the early first 4 or 5 albums and you can hear him cranking out rhythm playing against and along with Keith. To me Beggars Banquet was the great turning point for the Stones, They pivoted away from their 1960's British invasion style and became the Stones, They got rid of their 3 piece suits pretty early on but, When Beggars Banquet came out they really dressed and looked unique and unusual, Along with their brand new songs of the time. Songs like Sympathy, Factory Girl, Salt of the earth, Dear Doctor, I never in my life heard music like that until then. Which to me is amazing as I grew up in New York in the 1960's at a time when there was Country, R & B, Surf Music, A multitude of Rock styles, Funk, Jazz, Standards, etc. Yet that album proved to be totally original. Thanks for Your hard work and many hours, You are doing a great job ! I think there may be more people watching than you think there are.

thank you Richard for the comments, I read them and enjoyed hearing what you mentioned. I agree, so pivotal of a time period. I do not know much of the contributions of Brian, so I am looking forward to learning and breaking it down. I am not a Brian guy, and interested to pursue and present my findings. I am very interested to learning more of Jumping JFlash as that was to me where they just blew the doors off of RnR. I do have to say, I am thinking to finish Keith's bust which brings me to Undercover time period, and also ties in with my interview and photos from Curt Angeledes. But, I can not even imagine what it was like putting on Beggars in 68 and hearing that for the first time......it is very hard to grasp! thanks for geeking...cheers

Hi Steve. Im a musician of a little over 20 years. I feel like in order to continue being a musician part of the job is having something you're ears have been sweet on lately. Usually people who play have an incredible hobby of just being a music listener and what that entails. I'm always super impressed and appreciative of people who have a great passion for just listening to music, whether they play or not. I greatly appreciate your passion for records, rock and roll lore, all that stuff. I appreciate you as a fan of music. Your interest is felt and brings us all together here in our corner of RU-vid. @Stive flip side CT Are you a drummer and guitar player and do you write songs. Me myself very much not musical I can’t play anything or write . I got part of under my thumb on electric guitar down one time . Sort of by accident. I was aiming for give me shelter and somehow under my thumb came out after hours of bleeding fingers against guitar strings . I made up a stones sounding song with lyrics one time. YOU GOT TO GIVE ME YOUR HEART BEFORE YOU GIVE ME YOUR LOVE 1997 But could not play it . Im not musical in that way . I can’t really play or write . Hello Steve; It takes a lot of notes, research & time to successfully complete a documentary. Well done!! Lou Reed as iconic musically as New York is visually. CSN&Y Deja Vu the alternates worth the price. Delaney & Bonnie Rock & Soul legends with an impressive catalogue of music. Ronnie & Bo Live at the Ritz, Jimmy Cliff's The Harder They Come soundtrack & The Rolling Stones FlashPoint are good pick ups. Take care, Tina & Pat!~

@ STEVE FlipSide CT Hey I’m on day 3 down here in Toronto. What a town!!! Just blew in here end of August and it’s September 2 already. Hot town in the city today. Been right here downtown near the University!! I’ve never met such kind people in a big city in all my life if you discount my time in Japan. So far I have nothing but good things to say about Toronto people. I’m really impressed and happy with this decision. This has been really good for me to see Toronto a town out East. 6 or 7 million people in the GTA wow! They blow my mind. If I didn’t have the status here I’m sure it might be a different story but then again I’m still in the homey moon period ain’t I ?? Okay one of the BIG highlights I have to tell you about ( and it cost be 500 bones USD so I better tel it ! ) So I just blow into town off the train. The train staff with VIA RAIL STAFF CANADA were pretty shitty to be honest screening at people on the smoke breaks and I had 3 days on that train but the passengers were pretty sweet for the most part and I met a lot of people on the train. I can’t think of one staff member on our VIA RAIL that was really friendly. They treated economy passengers like were are all a bunch of shit and they looked all very disgruntled to need to serve us. Sooo sad !!! One native Indian woman wanted to smoke her Indian reserve cigarettes on every little stop and they constantly kept her guessing when she could get out to light up and then they screamed at her to get back on zeee train. Like come on hurry up woman ! She always wanted to have another smoke . Poor woman. They yelled at everyone ! HOLY SHIT JAPAN SURE AINT LIKE THAT !!!! So I blow in to town and I got a place to stay on my second night . It was hard to find rooms. :( But I liked up a place for 3 nights and on my walk there holy shit !!!! I walked right past the place in Toronto that was the location for the 1977 stones live gig !!!! EL MACAMBO !!!! Looks exactly the same as in photos from 1977! VERY WELL KEPT BY THE LOOKS OF IT ON THE OUTSIDE!!!! That was sooo COOL !!!! No plan just happened to WAON by it !!!! Wow !!!! :) Anyways Steve if you happen to know any people in Toronto that need or want a roommate send them my way and I’ll line up the cash . Looking pretty hard to find a place to live here and my studies are going to start soon . Best, Greg

I know it is has a new image and is going strong. cheers and enjoy! @ Steve Flipside CT TURN ONS !!! YEAH TURN ONS!!! Like when I think about it The Stones actually managed to turn me on to Robert Johnson. What was the Story on Love in vain from Bleed 69? Their great cover of that song. Some old long lost ROBERT JOHNSON record was just found in someone’s attic or something and it just came out got released after so many years and mick and Keith were like COOL so let’s cover a song from it and they did!!! This is the story I heard . COOL LETS COVER IT !!!!! And bingo bango LOVE IN VAIN is hitting hard coming to life again LIVE 69 and 70 and 72 and on LET IT BLEED . 1969 They are like COOL let’s turn people on to ROBERT JOHNSON if they aren’t already . I can dig that . And it touches on OUR ROOTS too. That’s Keith following it back I think . He is said to die the same day as Elvis by the way ( August 16 ) and both born on an 8th of a month . You do follow the road from SUN RECORDS in Memphis and you go right past GRACELAND and you keep going south into Mississippi state and I believe that highway takes you right past where Robert Johnson was born. Was it hazelhurst ? But I am agnostic and this could easily be one big coincidence. Who is to say? But there is a lot of FOLKLORE about Robert Johnson and I will say I was a bit surprised when I noticed all the similarities with Elvis . Both died on August 16 Wow !!!! 8/16 But besides this ....THE TURN ONS ARE GREAT !!! I’m happy I learnt more about Robert Johnson from The Stones. :) I love the spontaneous COOL LETS COVER IT !!!! Shit ! It was just frickin re-discovered and COOL LETS COVER IT !!!! DIG IT!!! :D I love that attitude about the stones Window of opportunity Let’s do it !!!! Perfect timing !!!!! COOL !!!!! and when you realize that their TURN ON is turning people on to THINGS that may otherwise be somewhat obscure :) COOL !!!!

Wow. Just the list of musicians on the Delaney & Bonnie makes it so enticing. Good to see you again Steve and doing another vinyl update. I would never think of buying Delaney & Bonnie. But you talked me into checking it out. >< Good to see the Ronnie's too. Is the one with the great Mick Taylor a newer release? Or is it an older one when the both of them were playing together? I did see the Lou album. But I knew nothing about it and I already had spent too much as it was. So I passed on Lou. Is it mainly for casual or die-hard fans? Super seeing you again Steve. That would be great if you could interview Kurt. I am sure that he may be able to share a few stories that will be entertaining. How could they not be? {smile} Looking forward to the next one. Brother Rob.....the talent in D&B albums is above. Even their studio ones are cool. I want to say Ronnie's Mr Luck came out late 2021 recent, and the show might be 2013, not sure. I have been wanting to make some Vinyl Finds vids, I will do again soon, but my buying has been decreased drastically. Unless I find the vinyl real cheap, I can not dish out these high prices anymore. My thoughts are, that there is way to much and way to pricey and they (industry) making it hard to keep up. How do younger ones afford this? I just got Curt's book, and we will be talking soon about a plan. I did reach out to Lynn Goldsmith directly for her use of photos, but not going to be asking her for any interview. She said she does not need promotion. cheers!!!

I'm from Detroit (blow the reveille)! *YES!* Do a video on how you _'make the sausage'._ I would LOVE IT! I claim to be a Lou Reed fan. But, that one got past me. I'll have to check it out! Delaney & Bonnie were *so hard* to categorize! I was a hard-rockin', young punk at the time. But, I always stopped to enjoy those guys. Bonnie Bramlett on the old 'Roseanne' series. THAT was a treat! As far as what you choose for your next project; I have no preference! You've done GREAT WORK here. While 'LIB' is still my _'fav';_ 'B&B' is still holding up as your *Magnum Opus!* And, now these (biggest eva) 'SG' series! Have to let it _'set-in'_ to judge it objectively. I mean, it was GREAT! I have never figured out what attrached me to their music. Cuz (on the surface) it seems related to the whole _'Laurel Canyon'_ stuff. @ Steve Flip Side CT YOU ARE GOING TO ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!!! There is this old 1973 Australian Black and White Documentary made on The Rolling Stones and they go on to introduce members of the band. First Mick. Later they get to Nicky Hopkins and then to Keith who is standing beside Nicky as they enter the room and KEITH IS REALLY LOOKING LIKE THE 1972/1973 Especially 1973ish version of Keith with a great ultra COOL SHARK TOOTH print style shirt on too and so far the commentary is not inaccurate or speculative BUT AFTER INTRODUCING KEITH RICHARDS the frame of him just stops and the Australian commentator goes KEITH RICHARD ........DEADLY NIGHT SHADE HE WONT LIVE TO BE 70!!!! Haha :D THATS GOT TO BE RIGHT UP THERE WITH HEY KEITH YOU ARE VOTED TO BE THE NEXT ROCK STAR TO DIE TO LIKE OD THERE ARE ODDS ON YOU AT NUMBER ONE!!! And he goes GREAT ILL LET YOU KNOW. :D It’s got to be up there with that one. This is great!!! Hahaha I love this! And how old is Keith this year? He’s going to be 79 on December 18th. Awww I love that date . I could NOT resist I got married on that same date too as did he . :) Long live Keith Richards - Again this video is on RU-vid and just google it. Yeah you become more aware of it now in kind sight how they were in actual fact getting badly used and hassled and taken advantage of like okay good we got you guys on the spot you asked for it and LETS MAKE IT GOOD . Let’s make something viewers are going to want to see. A real shit show. And the stones will come off looking rude when it was actually the other way around. If THAT SHIT HAPPENED NOW A DAYS like it happened then it would look to be in very poor taste. Some of the very early footage they’d make jokes about their long hair . Later into the late 60s and into the 70s interviews could get really rude. LETS TEACH THOSE BAD ASS OUT LAWS A LESSON!!!! I think they started to be taken more seriously and more sympathetically by maybe around 1977 1978 1979 getting help from the president getting clean or making effort to and shows for the blind . I think they are in actual fact very elegant and classy and sometimes like to let it loose and have fun feel free and easy . Enjoy life a bit . BUT I THINK THEY DID PRETTY GOOD WITH FAME AND NOTORIETY. Everything seemed to work to their advantage anyway.

Just wanted to mention the 3 actual record I ever had. Rolling Stones ( their second ever record ) was given to me as a gift from a friend who just lost his drivers permit for drunk driving. As for music There was an album I was expecting and looking for and anticipating for a long long time after hearing Let it bleed . But I wasn’t sure which one . I kept trying different albums . First black and blue ( nope ) Next EXILE ( nope ) Then Beggers Banquet ( nope ) Then it’s only rock n roll ( nope ) All not the sound I was expecting after BLEED Then when I was in Japan In 2003 2004 and 2005 I hit on STICKY FINGERS 1971 and GOATS HEAD SOUP 1973 And IT WAS EXACTLY IT!!!!! @ Steve Flip Side CT I’ll try hard to keep this short. 1) Boston and New York City....can’t wait to visit both of those cities someday. But want to do it up right when I do. 2) Toronto, getting ready for a new life right in the middle of downtown Toronto. Hog Town TO The big smoke Looks like the two American cities closest to Toronto for me will be Buffalo NY and Niagara Falls NY have not been to New York State before so it’s a thrill for me to step over the border ....take a little breather from downtown Toronto once in a blue moon . Hope to find some oldies classic burger/juke box diners down there when I do. Sweet lovin !!!! here I come !!!! Heck golly they might even have a few of those in Toronto for all I know. 3) yes Stones albums and also individual songs can grow on you. They have a way of growing on you. IT GROWSSS ON YOUUU almost addicting. Dancing with Mr D wasn’t my favorite on SOUP when I first heard it BUT now it’s also one of the songs I really enjoy on that album . ( Side note: Slash has stated that he remembers first using and getting into smack when he was listening to SOUP. Slash is a HUGE HUGE Stones Fan so I’ve read. Slash lists them as his favorite band. Hope I’m not out to lunch on that...I’m pretty sure it is what I seen on him a number of times. :) ROCK ON SLASH YEAH LOVE YOU MANNER!!!!!! You Rock!!!!!! Hey Slash is you are reading this just want to note that your Chinese Zodiac is a SNAKE just like me. 1965 , 1977 both years of the snake . And we all know how fond of snakes and lizards you are! :) cool hey ??? :D -- Keith , Mick jimmy miller and bobby keys too ( come to think about it ) Are / were ALL the artistic and sophisticated elegant musical creative LAMB SHEEP or RAM, 1943 Also strong minded and slightly stubborn too and said to be slightly puzzled by life . Charlie Watts was a snake too by the way , 1941 . On ghosts, spirits I’m agnostic. Not sure on that one. I’m on the fence . This all brings me to songs that didn’t grown on me nooo matter how many times I seemed to listen to them. Rocks off did grow on me over time as did Turd on the run . Right after HAPPY :) I’ll be a bit more generous with my cuts on Exile on Main Street , 1972. Okay these are what I’ll cut . AKA the ones that just don’t seem to grow on me no way no how . Ready ??? Here we go.. Casino Boogie Torn and Frayed Ventilator Blues Soul Surviver These 4 have to go . I’d like to add these four to replace these . Loving Cup ( alternative take ) Dancing in the Light. I’m not Signifying Title 5 18 songs Remember I think it was mick that said each side of each album was sort of intended to be listened to separately as its own thing . Not all one after another like the CD is made . 4 separate short little albums EXILE is. According to MICK :) But heck it’s a FREE country mr Dylan you can listen to it however you like BOB and be who ever you like ! This is America! Actually I’m writing this from Canada ( so shoot the Queen off a Dime ! ) but you get the idea. Anyways I think that was MICK’s own take on how to take EXILE in . I’d love to compile an album of just live songs off it . I like ROCKS OFF way way better live. And I swear that song is brown sugar backwards! Isn’t jumpin jack flash sort of satisfaction sort of done backwards a little bit ? If true not that that’s a bad thing. A good song is a good song .

@ Steve Flip Side CT I remember I went down to see my old high school friend in LA and he was living just off of Hollywood Blvd in 2008 and I went back and he was living in downtown L.A. by that time in 2011. This was winter/early spring on both occasions and he was in a really old old classic apartment that used to be a hotel ( was said to be terribly haunted actually ) and when I was downtown and alone in his apartment I did feel like someone was in there with me. But I must have scared the ghost off because whatever it was it didn’t really bother me but I didn’t hear noises like someone was in the other room when I woke up in mid morning. Anyways my friend, Ian Clay is a film maker and I attempted to TURN HIM ON TO MAKING A FILM ON GRAM PARSONS . He hated the idea and told me to go to hell. :( A film about a bunch of burn outs he said. Broke my heart :( And that was the end of that ! Love it if you made a documentary totally just on GRAM Steve !!!! I know you aren’t on here to take requests but I just can’t help feeling like GRAM’s life was just soooo amazing and incredible! Like who ever thinks when they are growing up and 12 years old like okay I’m going to get accepted to HARVARD and drop out , sort of invent or help invent COUNTRY ROCK MUSIC andddddd meet and become friends with KEITH RICHARDS live hard and fast, die young and leave a good looking corpse and then get stollen out of an airport and cremated at JOSHUA TREE, California??? What an amazing true life story. I understand he was such a sweet guy . Keith and him were like soul mates. That’s really amazing . Keith has said there are not too many people you can be having cold turkey in tandem and still get along very well.

Spirits....ahhhh! I want to believe them, but then there are times I just do not. Yes, I agree Gram is a great and sad story. One that is somewhat documented. Like you, I am fascinated with him and his music and how he touched so many people. It is a legacy that should be known to many more. I do have books on him, and have not yet read them. I would like to make a doc on him, as he fits most of the criteria to spread the word more. But that would take so much time. I can still think about it. I have recently gotten 2 books. One by James Phelge (the Stones Edith Grove flat mate) and some Andrew Oldham....I do not know much about these cats.....and interested to do more doc on them. But I need to focus and figure it out. My next project will be a LIVE interview with Curt, who wrote the Stones Book I showed.

I vote for Beggars or Sticky - I know nothing about the stories there. It's been forever since I have heard that Lou album.

Thanks Steve, its nice that you touched base on camera after your monumental Part 3 effort! Bobby Keys worked with Delaney too, correct? He wasn't on the album of theirs you just mentioned?

A pleasure Dave. I am a vinyl RnR guy, and started off making my vinyl record finds and docs this way. We call it a Vinyl Community, all over the world. I just have had not much free time to make it, as everyone I do I need to make some project out of it. Yes, Bobby was sure part of it, in fact is how he met up with Keith in L.A, for Exile and connected. I talk about this story. He is not on this album though. Glad you enjoyed this. Steve

Did you get Reed/Cale ‘Songs for Drella’? I’ve got it but haven’t been able to play it due to a downed record player. Is that RSD Lou Reed good pressing? Has and etching of Andy Warhol on side 4. Just got the Chris Isaak ‘Heart Shaped World’….can’t wait. Hot tip if you can find it is a band out of Boston called Treat Her Right self titled (88’) and ‘Tied to the Tracks’(89’) -Mark Sandman/Billy Conway went on to form Morphine. Swampy blues rock at its best. Rarely mentioned about but from when the needle dropped on the promo we got in the record store I was working at(even in a small town Mt.) -I was hooked. It has never let me down and a mainstay on my playlist for 34?….years! With your taste in Stones, I think it would be right up your alley and please the ears. The self titled album on RCA is the place to start.

Yes for sure I have Drella. It is a great one. The RSD Lou is a fantastic sound! I have not listened to Chris Isaak in a while....but a few weeks ago my daughter asked me if I knew him, she saw him in CA and liked him. Wow, yes I know Treat Her Right, I lived in Boston in the mid-late 80's and saw them. Great stuff It has been a long while since, I can swear I have an album of theirs. I am not familiar with Morphine.... never saw anyone play slide on a bass that has guitar strings. Very innovative.. Nice work! You can hear his Blues passion. they want to stay with 3 in the band, but would wonder what a guitarist would do.. thanks for the turn on....I will have to look for these and more into Mark Sandman again. cool!

@@FlipSideCT Dude!….you were there! That first record is where it’s at. It just fit me at the time when I was coming out of my hair metal phase. I was hired to promote this cheese and discovered a whole different world as soon as I started working there in 86’. I grew up on the Beatles and other British rock but strayed as culture dictated to pubescent youth. There wasn’t much getting through to a small town in the northern Rockies except MTV. I reached out a few years ago to David Champagne, the guitarist in Treat Her Right and he got right back to me and sent me recordings he was a part of in Boston area since they folded. Great guy. Another record that WEA of Canada (which shipped us our records) sent us was ‘Masters Of Reality’ -self titled record produced by Rick Rubin. Not a fan of everything he did but he always pulled something out of a band from what I can tell. Great album cover and blazing guitars. Rock n’ Roll on steroids…at 11’. Really enjoying your record picks and your docs; a labor of love and respect. It shows. I love all those obscure clips of the band you are using in your docs that give context. I can think of few bands that played/or clicked together in those early days. It blows me away just how much material, in so many genres of R&B they dipped their toes in and made their own. Ron Wood really seems to have been the cure for this band that was going off the rails (to some extent or other for nearly its entire existence) till he showed up. The voice between the glimmer twins that couldn’t talk to one another anymore. That and the stability of Charlie and Bill. Ron seemed to bring them back together despite his own demons which is quite a feat. I’m not sure anyone could have fit that role except him. I haven’t read much but did listen to ‘Life’ which told so many great stories in the heart of a hurricane. I meant to get Live at the El Mocambo but have only heard a few tracks. Smoking! Cheers to what you do. Looking forward to more to come.

@@GIBKEL I moved to Boston in 87' by myself to get out of NJ. I spent a lot of time going to clubs and dug the scene. Thanks for sharing your story. Your commentary on the Stones is right on .....and there could be no better then Woody as a Stone. He has the perfect Stone attitude and knows RnR. I love his recent live albums. You have to get El Mocambo....It is so well done, and captures that historic time. It is up there in my top 3 Live. thanks for your support, well appreciated. I am working on 78-80 now. cheers steve
