Even though this episode was kind of "sponsored", readymaderc products are so good and reliable, they are my first place to look for anything fpv related.
I like it. I got a bixler 1.1 for xmas, flew sim for hours and the first time i took it up, i was already cruising like j scott! Wothout your beginner series and all of your videos i wouldnt have made it! Thanks Flite Test crew.
I just got my first rc plane the hawk sky for Christmas from watching your videos! I have been looking into fpv for the hawk sky. Thanks guys and keep posting!
Hey David, keep the whiskers. They look good. You are in good company. Read the background on why Abraham Lincoln grew a beard. BTW, my RCExplorer tricopter flies like a dream.
Nice as always :) An old RC hobbyist just taught me to put a streamer ribbon on the key cams I attach to flying stuff,. Makes them easy to find ;) They're usually somewhere around the "landing" spot :) Happy New Year Ken
Question. I need to control multiple RC cars using one radio. How can I achieve this? Ex: I need to drive one car to a location, park it. Then using that same radio, take control of a different car, while the first one remains parked, and drive that one somewhere. Then be able to switch back and forth, between the cars
@@kennethhicks2113 lol I’m just trying to get help from anyone and everyone. What I’m asking is not model memory. To clarify, I need to control 2 rc cars, at the same time, using one radio. But have a way so that only 1 drives at a time. Then without turning the car off, I can flip a switch or something, and start driving car 2. And then switch back and drive car 1, even if car 1 happens to be 200 feet away from me.
@@magicmike1122 Well there are many ways to do it, how much analog experience do you have and what is/are your current xtransmitters? could switch LC circuit (freq) in one car rcv and put a switch on xmitter to do same at control end. This is much the way pre-digital xmtrs worked. Or you could remap some channels on a many channel radio you may have.
David find that camera! I bet it came off on initial impact, looks like glue holding the camera to hook and loop material gave way. You'll find it near the tower, probably within 25meters. Cheers!
Great video. Very informative. Very clear. I thought that house fly-by was FOR SURE a crash at 07:40 Those Ready Made lens caps need a strip or two of electrical tape on the inside edge. :0
Hey guys, I love what you do, I watch all your vids and find your enthusiasm contagious but, seriously 1. On monitors "If they weren't custom built for FPV...blah blah" absolute rubbish, NONE of those are custom built/designed for FPv they are ALL adapted security and headrest monitors 2. 420tvl ? seriously, it's hard to find anyone selling stuff that out of date, Hell even the micro 3g cams now are 520tvl 3. 1 mile on a 600mw ?, either the tx is pants or the antenna need sorting out, my 200mw gets me at least 2 km with absolute zero video degradation Hats off to all you guys at Flite test I really do love what you do but some of the statements in this video leave me cold
Hahahahaha, i couldn't stop lauching for 2 minutes or so the fitst time i wached it. Even the 3th time i had to lauch again. You'r so funny please never stop making video's. And happy new year of cource
Technically, a HAM technician level license is required to operate the FPV equipment in the US...do any of you FPV pilots out there actually get your license before flying? Just curious :). Nice video, FT! Informative and entertaining as usual.
+Klaus Bendel It's been a while since I commented, and I've got my HAM ticket! What started out for just FPV'ing legally turned into a small time hobby, and I ended up reviving / running my school's HAM radio club, building a weather balloon APRS packet radio system for a class project, getting my General class HAM license, and working parades and other events for my local ARES chapter. I'm now approved as a VEC so I can give tests to make more HAMs! HAM licenses are good stuff, lots of fun and learning to be had in the RF world.
Why don't you guys sell those FliteTest coat that Josh Bixler was wearing when they were flying? I want one really bad! Please sell them, I would buy one!
LOL ReadyMade RC is offline. Flite Test is more efficient than Annonymous for shutting down a website. Just put a discount code and BAM! kkkk. Great video guys!
Don't get the 250mw transmitter. I am new to FPV, and started with the 250 and what happened was my quad could out fly the video transmitter. So I lost picture for a second and needed to rotate my quad to get the picture back and then I was totally disoriented. Very nerve racking when you lose picture and you can't see your aircraft. My quad flew out of range but luckily the return home feature worked. Next I bought the spiral antennas but they don't really help with a quad. Quads always fly pretty much flat. So next I ordered the 600ghz transmitter. Now I can't out fly the video so I don't get disoriented. I use the stock antenna on the quad and the spiral antenna on the goggles. This starter kit they offer is a great deal, I would have gotten it if I didn't already buy all this other stuff. I wouldn't call their kit beginner, it will be your final set up. Only thing missing are goggles.
Hook & loop tape doesn't stick well to the Mobius camera because it's plastic feels a bit oily. Perhaps sanding the bottom of it and using CA glue to attach a strip of hook & loop tape would be better.
Pleas guys...can you tell David to please explain his YOU TUBE video where he use a foam cutter table done by himself to cut wing cores to build delta wings...I think it is a brilliant way to cut wings and DIY...but how he made the mold to follow the contour and how he calculate the wing cut size on both size and what kind of foam he used...please shoot a filler and let me know....i love your kits by the way!...great job!

They've done loads already, they have builds on H-quad that will cover electronics. Loads of other videos, people need to put their own work in or they will never fly. The people who cant be bothered should just buy a ready made toy one
Question. If I want to mount the 8" LCD from the back rather than the tripod hole, what do slider in mount goes in so I can screw mount it on my transmitter screen tray?
i have gotten 2.5km (1.5mile) out of my 250mw transmitter and attitudeSD only with a set of omni spironet anntenas so i would say about 4km (2.4 miles) on the 600mW transmitter in the same condition
at $384.40 including shipping and not including customs tax which I bet I will get hit with, its still cheaper to buy odd bits from hobbyking, hobbyzone and a few uk shops
Could you guys do video about how i should choose my first radio? i have only these plastic radios that come with the plane but i think i could move on :>
Hey FliteTest! I just got a GoPro Hero 3 black and have wanted to get into FPV for a while now. Is there a way to get live output feed from a hero 3? If so, is it possible to hook that up to the same transmitter that you have there or others like it. Thanks
the camera is still there at @7:37 willing to bet the camera is less than 100ft from the base of the tower... just guessing.. BRAIN Test! could this setup be run as dual? or two complete systems and have two displays? ex. one cam pointing forward and one cam pointing rear view
fetymann Just the sun will do. I only needed a way to make it stand out against the green grass. Then saw a roll of sparkly red tape as I passed by a motorcycle store and bought a meter of it :)
Would this work on an RC car outside my house while I sit inside? In other words, will this go through a couple of walls and then maybe 100 feet? Thanks for any help! :D
My dad worked with cameras and electronics, he said a good rule of thumb was take the max range and cut it in half for every wall it has to go through.
You guys make Awesome videos! I've crashed my flying wing like 20 times and its still going strong. Did you ever find your Mobius? If not then I'm gonna look for it and finders keepers! I lost my Mobius too in a crash yesterday but I found it 15 feet away and it was still recording, yay!
This is great for the starter FPV. But I want to make HiDef FPV with zero (or near zero) latency feed while recording TO GOGGLES plus extended flight time (30 mins, give or take) and range (1.5 - 2 miles)? If you could set up a "kit" like that for sale...the "SKY'S" the limit!!!
Didn't like image resolution, and there is no "return to home" function included in the package to protect your investment. I would recommend a product update
Does anybody know if it's possible to take out the camera that this kit comes with and replace it with a gopro? I got a Gopro Hero 3+ Recently and I really want to do some FPV with it, and this kit look awesome, I want to combine the two. If anybody has any input on this I would love to hear it! Thanks!
Fun episode. One thing, in the podcast you were saying that screen setups are not great and yet here you seem to be pushing it? And.....I recently did a talk to an RC Club full of old guys that hate FPV, I managed to persuade them that not everyone is out to crash in to building or spy on people. I suggested they view your channel and I told them you guys are great, however I can hear them now in my head talking about how you fly into cell towers blah blah blah..... Maybe should have cut that bit?
Much FPV equipment is a matter of preference and opinion. A screen is a very inexpensive way to get started while goggles may be a logical first upgrade.
Ok look,, I need help, i just got a 5.8 ghz fpv system but when i go near trees a little bit but still in the open space it keeps giving me static every like 5 seconds, how do i fix this do i need a better antenna or do i need more power to my fpv transmitter or what pls help!!! p.s. i am not using the stock antennas i am using clover leaf antennas and i am using a 1000 mah 3s lipo to power my fpv receiver and a 900 mah 3s to power my fpv receiver, thanks!
+Inteous FPV I will start off by saying that no matter what band your flying on (5.8GHz, 3.3GHz, 2.4GHz, 1.3GHz, 900 MHz, ect) your going to have interferences. It's just a part of doing anything with RF. As a HAM, it's a daily part of every contact I make even in ideal conditions. That being said, it could be the range your flying at. The 5.8 GHz band is not know for it's range but rather small and practical antennas and transmitters/ receivers. In addition, 5.8 GHz doesn't have great penetration. Think about your Internet router which is typically 2.4 GHz (and some are now 5.8 GHz). As soon as you step outside or go further away from the router in your house, you have some signal loss. FPV gear works the same. You did say your using clover leaf antennas which are great for short range and flying around yourself. If you think it's a range issue, then switching to a directional antenna is an option but I would only advise that if you have some experience under your belt. IBCrazy has a few videos on his RU-vid page that really gets into detail about the concepts that should help you out a lot.
WHAT THE HELL guys? you specifically said in the podcast that you HATE monitor setups, especially for beginners because you look down, look back, can't find the plane, get forced to jump back to flying from the monitor, and get really stressed out and/or lost and crash the plane.
He said 1 mile? I think anyone trying to go that far is going to lose all their stuff unless they have a dragon link type setup cause I didn't think 2.4g goes that far tx wise.
