Sheila, I just found your channel and watched you fry the bread. Oh my. I'm from south-east Kentucky, Hazard in Perry Co., my Daddy's parents were from Campbell Co. Tenn., right on the Kentucky border. My mother, born 1910, used to make bread like this, both flour and corn. We'd eat it with Soup Beans, fried potatoes, and Coleslaw. I'm the tail-end of eight children. They are all gone now, I'm the last one living. Just listening to you talk took me back to the kitchen table with all of us gathered together talking and laughing, telling Mommy to "hurry up" with the supper. I live on the opposite side of the country now. Oh, how I miss that kitchen table. Thank you so much for giving me a happy day. May God bless you! Marilyn in Arizona

My mom who was born in 1903 made this bread all the time. I haven’t had it in years because I didn’t know how she made it. I loved it. I knew she didn’t have many ingredients in it but this looked so easy and fast I’m going to make it. I’ve watched dozens of videos with fried bread but they were all so involved and had so many ingredients I knew it wasn’t one of them. Although we didn’t call it flitter bread I know it was this because hers looked just like yours when it was cooked. I’m looking forward to having it again. Thank you and God bless. Her grandchildren called her Mammy too.
Awwww that is So Precious, that makes me Happy to have brought a sweet memory to you ,and that so odd that her grand children called her mammiey too, makes me happy. May God Bless you Greatly ❤️ and Thank you for watching my videos.
My dad was at his mother in law's who was such a great cook and my mom asked for some flitters with molasses. When they left my dad was so mad. He said "I can make flitters, why didn't you ask for something else harder to make!!"? He used to tell that and laugh he loved flitters but he could do that. Thanks for the memories. They always used bacon grease
Awww that is so Precious. I'm glad that made you Happy. My mama would use bacon grease too , and Lay's Lard, until Crisco came out.May God Bless you all❤️
@TRIChuckles That is so sweet and a sweet memory, where are you from, im from Newport Tn.,and thats what rhey called it here was Flitter Bread. ❤️❤️❤️It doesn't matter what they called it ,it sure is good.Thank you for watching and for the sweet comment.

My mom was from Pikeville, KY. Born in 33. She passed away without writing down her recipes. She said since she never measured she didn't know where to start. From time to time I try Google and this time I found you. The closest I have found was also at a Native American restaurant in AZ. Thank you. It is perfect!
@ShannonGrimmRealtor Thank you for watching ,i appreciate you so much ,it makes me happy to bring this recipe back to you and some sweet memories of your mama ❤️
My grandma made this for me and she would pour some sugar into a little sauce cup and pour black coffee over the sugar and don’t mix it and I would dip the glitter bread into it
AWWW THAT IS SO SWEET, AND SWEET MEMORIES,,YOU KNOW YOU CAN PUT SYRUP ON THEM AND HAVE FLITTER BREAD PANCAKES. THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME KNOW THIS IT MADE ME SO HAPPY 😊
My Daddy would make himself syrup with a little pile of sugar and black coffee to have with his buttermilk biscuit after dinner. He had to have biscuits with dinner every night. He said that when he was little Granny always told him and his siblings to save their biscuits if she had extra sugar it was a special after supper treat when he was little.
The Lord seems to have a preference for unleavened bread, in Leviticus no sacrifice was acceptable to him unless the bread was unleavened. In Exodus the Israelites were told to make unleavened bread to eat with lamb and bitter herbs. I love all flatbreads , so it seems we all may be in good company ❤❤❤
@dixi1958 where are you watching from, my mom and grandma called it flitter bread ,but I guess depending on where you are from ,they called it different names ,but no matter ,its still Delicious and always brings sweet memories 😋 Thank you for watching 😊 ❤️ I appreciate you so much 😊
Yes it is self rising ,it already has the baking soda and salt in it so you don't have to add these things. Some cookies I use all purpose flour and you add those things.

Not unless you want to put your favorite spices or flavors ,but we eat it plain ,it really good ,and sometimes we put maple syrup over them like a pancakes SO GOOD
Yes everyone calls them something different ,depending on where you are from, but Yes my mama would put a little sugar sometimes, and the she might add a egg to make homemade pancakes ,with homemade white syrup to go on them.Thank you so much for watching 😊I appreciate You so much
Hey sweety the video is called Baked Skillet Biscut Bread, that makes me Happy to bring sweet memories back to you.,i truly believe thats why God has me doing these videos ,is so people's joy and memories come back to mind, of a sweeter time with our families, and one day we will see our families again and sit down around the table with God and all of our family never to be separated again,There is not much joy in this world anymore and if i can be the vessel that God useses to bring a smile to his children ,then I've done what he would have me to do.May God Bless you sweet Lady, today and everyday ❤️ 🙏❤️

Just look them par boil them ,then rinse off with cold water put back in pot add water above the beans and salt and pepper to tastes and about two table spoons of Crisco shortening. My mama and grand mother used Hog.lard.or Lays lard. Thank you so much for watching.
