This is part 6 of a several part series showing what a true float hunt, moose hunt, and hunting in Alaska is really like. This is not just several minutes of random things throughout the trip and a kill shot. This is 100% DIY from planning to hunting. Anybody can do this, the average joe if you will. You don't have to be rich or save for an extended amount of time, you just have to have the desire. I hope you enjoy! If you have any questions or comments drop a comment below or send me an email.

I watched the entire series and loved all of them. That's an Alaskan hunting trip for sure, days and days of nothing and then..... Paydirt. I've been hunting Alaska since 2016 and every time I go on the first trip for any species I never get what I'm after but learn tons on that trip. It gives me fuel for the next trip so I can zero in on exactly what works. The next trip that I go after my first trip I usually get what I'm after. I know all too well those days and days and days of boredom and cold.

Oh yeah. Lots of people think Alaska is a target rich environment only to find out that wildlife is very spread out. Heck the average across the state is 1 moose per 10 square miles. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!! Best of luck in all your future adventures, you’ll be rewarded for all your work just keep at it👍

Thank you thank you and thank you I really appreciate it! I bet it’s a bit cooler up there than it is here in TX. He’s lucky but I’m the truly blessed one getting to hunt and make memories with him and my brother, the best hunting buddies I’ll ever have. And yes you’re right, moose cooked in bear fat… the best thing I’ve ever eaten.

Great series you guys and congrats and filling tags in 2021! Question - of the 3 of you, which Waders would you recommend the most? We have a remote northern Canada moose hunt coming up and altho not Alaska, I'm pretty sure living much of my time in waders will be inevitable.

Awesome hunt! I did my first river moose hunt last fall and tried to film, it’s incredibly difficult, nicely done! Curious, what tent/stove are you using and would you recommend it? We brought a pop up and wish we would’ve done the tipi.
@NewDivideOutdoors
@NewDivideOutdoors Год назад
Thanks! I think the biggest issue was keeping cameras dry and batteries from getting too cold. We use a seek outside 8 man with I believe the xl stove. I love it, for everything not just float and/or moose hunting.

Congratulations on the harvest. That's a nice Moose. I'm hoping to move to Alaska soon and i love the hunting and fishing so it should be a good fit. Is it hard to judge a legal Moose? I know some areas have to be 50 inches wide or a certain number of brow tines on one or both sides. What's the price tag for a hunt like this as far as the airplane cost? I have an ATV and was wondering if its better to use that to hunt with versus being dropped off in an aircraft or if you really need an aircraft to get to these spots?
@NewDivideOutdoors
@NewDivideOutdoors Год назад
Thanks! I loved it so much I had to move here as well. As far as judging, some say it’s tough but if you practice it gets pretty easy to tell what’s legal and what’s not. Every moose I see I’m always practicing my judgement. Price tag all depends on size of plane, how many trips such as gear and meat, and distance. You don’t have to use an airplane, there’s plenty of great places to hunt from the road system that are accessible by atv, just remember it’s just as easy for someone else to get there with an atv as well.

@@NewDivideOutdoors How do you like Alaska now that you live there? I'm hoping to move there this year or next year if everything goes right. I don't mind hunting near the road system or using a boat to get to those harder to get areas if i need to. I've been researching Alaska Fish and Game about the different species and where to hunt and the different regulations.

Nice work, what a grind it was for you guys. Nice to not get to abused by the bugs. I've been planning to get back to Alaska as during my 2019 jet boat trip, we couldn't find a bull. What bush plane were you using? Heard it gets wicked expensive if you have multiple animals down and are very far from the airfield with so many trips that are somewhere above $500 hr . . . Also what Tipi were you using?
@NewDivideOutdoors
@NewDivideOutdoors Год назад
Thanks! It was a grind and a true mental test of going 2 weeks without seeing hardly any sign then finally day 16 or 17 seeing the first legal bull. Wouldn’t have had it any other way though. We used a beaver on floats to start and one on wheels at the end. Seek outside 8 man. After using it on my first moose hunt I doubt I’ll ever use any other type of shelter ever again.

48” wide?? Your bull was bigger and older than that other one…. But that other one was about 58-59 “ wide. 7 year old is the one you passed, your bull was probably 14-15 years old on his way down. Massive but lost all his points and width. Bet those bases on your bull were 9 1/2 inches ?
@NewDivideOutdoors
@NewDivideOutdoors 2 года назад
Definitely heavier and older for sure. My estimates he was definitely on his way downhill as far as trophy quality like you said losing his points. He came out to 48” and change. His pans make him look a lot bigger than what he is. I can’t remember what his bases were but they were about the same as the b&c bull my dad killed two years ago.
@lastfrontierproductions2062
@lastfrontierproductions2062 2 года назад
Yes, very long pans and definitely the bigger older bull. Brow tines is all that matters tho. You took the right one, I just was hoping your brother would get the younger wider bull. Pretty amazing sight. Most people moose hunt their whole lives and never see 2 bulls display like that. That younger bull didn’t want anything to do with your big guy. He was outweighed by 200-300 lbs. Just look at the neck size difference. Your bull had a monster of a body. Great footage and great job filming. I really enjoy watching this hunt over and over. How thick were his bases??
