And there must be mutual respect because he has interviewed Floor many times over the years - and other Nightwish members. But I totally agree, the questions are so much more intelligent - and he listens to the answers.

The humility in her voice and the talent of this woman... she's really, really special. How can anyone not love her? That's impossible. Feet to the ground, head to the skies. Her respect for Tuomas and Nightwish, her process and her knowledge of music, her courage to change styles like that... It's almost unfair how good she is. :)
Floor is amazing. She could easily transition over to being a selfish, self important, narcissistic diva but she doesn't. She's always so humble and generous with her praise toward the artists she works with. Ya gotta love this beautiful woman. 🤩
Floor's voice seems a lot deeper here and I was wondering if that was just a bug she had or as she ages is her voice just naturally getting deeper. Am I making any sense to anybody?
The theme board, the platinum box color & packaging, the photos of Floor chosen, the songs & lyrics included all complement the image that Floor wanted for this album to show us that sensitive, inner side of her (which we love!) and it was a choice to not be metal. It isn’t a Nightwish album, or an After Forever or Revamp or Northward album. It’s Floor Jansen! She is many, many things and we are the lucky ones!
I wonder if Floor ever considered getting into acting, she has such a lovely expressive face and a great speaking voice to go along with the amazing singing.
Love that she namechecks Skunk Anansie here as a touchpoint. I would love to hear Floor and Skin sing together one day. Can you imagine the sheer power of that?
I'm not listening to pop either, but I immediately bought this album. It has, what 99% of pop lacks today: Quality. Good songwriting and instrumentation. Everything sounds timeless and tasteful. Everything is done around Floor, her incredible voice and her personality. This album is as down to earth, as Floor herself.
Great interview. You let her speak and express herself without interrupting. Well done! As for Floor...what I find most amazing about her is how "normal" she is. It is just difficult to believe that someone so gifted and so beautiful can be so likeable. And I really like how she speaks of Tuomas. There is no need to be jealous or critical of someone as special as Tuomas, and she genuinely realizes the magic they make is something to cherish. Bravo! We are truly lucky to be alive and know of Floor's impact on the world.

You can sing anything, Mrs Jansen....You literally sang out of a phonebook. You had and have good people around you and you yourself know yourself all too well after all your decades of experience to accomplish your goals. You can do everything! And thank you for sharing your goals with us!

I adore Floor so much, I think that for me is that she's always challenging herself to try new things even if she feels insecure about it, and in a weird way that may be what gives her the confidence she shows later on stage when she performs
Really looking forward to seeing and hearing Floor "live"in Germany this year (May 2023) as her music is relatively new to me but how can you not fully appreciate her pure vocal talent and her amazing diversity. I am certainly a fan.
My number one thing to do that helps me deal with Depression is to write it down and also to write poems and songs. So i get and understand why Floor or even Tuomas writes down there feelings and emotions. And it's helpful

Great analysis of pop music from a metalheads perspective! I work a lot with metal, pop and hiphop artists and what I find interesting about metalheads is that despite often being among the most skilled and talented type of musicians you'll find, the one thing they haven't mastered (because it's simply not a thing in metal) that is fundamental to many other genres, is "less is more". Aka, how can you deliver maximum impact with minimum material. Through the eyes of a metal musician, that limitation is tough cause they have a tendency to keep adding and adding, which is why they're often so good at what they do but they struggle to understand the foundations of music that is smaller and more focused. Great that Floor challenged herself to learn and the result speaks for itself, she's true to her background but she's also respecting the backgrounds of the influences she's newly discovered. 👌🏽👌🏽
as one of the greatest fans of Floor, I am so excited about what will achieve for her first solo album. but of course I'm not anxious due to some misfortunes. In my opinion, Floor is the greatest female vocalist entire the whole metal music and that's why being unsuccessful is literally impossible for her. she is strong, and she literally has the strength. I adore you goddess, you're precious!
Remember the Beatles, in the early days they wrot 2 min songs that were very interesting and most had some sort of "bridge". Congrats on the new album Floor!

Floor; you're definitely a kind lady who is all things to all people. I can tell. Being a Texan, in some ways you remind me of Willie Nelson, whom I think you'd make an EPIC duet with.
Basic can also be complex! Think of all the powerful vocalists that you can find in Pop music… from Dion to even Gaga. Phenomenal vocalists and some pretty great songwriting on some songs even if most of them persay are quite “simple” in lay terms

Ok, nice nice pop album. Wonder if you've got a Joni Mitchell in you and would find your syncopated rhythm and write a jazz album next? Expanding your musical chops to cover different genres - Haley Reinhart does that too, though she hasn't done metal. OH! - just heard what you had to say about the difficulty of singing Storm and honestly I think it might be my favorite cut especially when you sang it for the Dutch veteran - that was just killer. Great performance.
I. Think Tuomas and Floor mind melded or something. Its kind of weird. Tuomas was going to be a marine biologist, Floor wanted to be a biologist. They are both Empaths. They both eat hardly any meat now and consider theirselves vegetarians. One of Tuomas idols is Hans Zimmer, Floor mentioned him. Its great and all, just weird.
Nothing. She made her choice in 2016.☹ Check out Marcela Bovio's project Dark Horse White Horse. It's the closest thing to ReVamp we can get. No surprise considering who's involved.
Floor is a great person and a very good role model. Even though I don't like metal or pop, Floor always takes me into her world and I love it. I've been listening to her album all day and I keep discovering new things that inspire me more and more.
She is my favorite singer ever, but I didnt like her doing pop. I really miss her doing metal herself (just like in After Forever am Revamp). Because in Nightwish, Tuomas is the one behind doing everything.
Oh dear Floor, you actually already give the reason why your solo work is musically so average and interchangeable: your insecurrity about your own abilities, which I understand as you explain it, but is unjustified. As I said elsewhere I would have given you time to experiment. You indicate that you know little about pop, but that doesn't matter at all, does it? It is precisely then that you can come up with very surprising and fresh ideas, which would probably have made the music much more authentic. Now you have leaned too much musically on a mainstream pop sound, which is not surprising when you work with someone like Gordon Groothedde. It even sounds a bit naive. Believe in yourself and don't worry too much about a certain pop pattern. Especially with your background, it could have become something refreshing. Above all, be yourself when it comes to "image". There is no need to ask for help with this because it makes it seem forced. Believe in yourself and your own abilities. Pure and authentic music is about your own feelings and not whether it fits into a certain format/idea. I am actually curious about what you and Joost had come up with.
Maybe it wil pop up on the right moment (for Floor). Northward took ten years to come out but it did come out. Floor is a perfectionist, those people are always on a certain level of beïng unsecure during the creating proces imho.
To be honest, I don't like any of her solo songs and I'm looking forward to when this phase of her career ends and she returns to what she really knows how to do great - metal.
I hope she continues to do what makes *her* happy and not just pander to the fans. I'm sure she'll continue to make great metal music, but there's no reason why she can't do both.
I agree with you. I also don't like the solo album. I became her fan because she was the queen of metal. her solo album sounds like a lot of other pop singers. but anyway I respect her choice and work.
Floor s solo music is played on Dutch radio and all her solo shows are sold out in no time . Nightwish is never played on Dutch radio. Nightwish had 2 sold out ziggodome shows in Amsterdam in november last year for 34.000 fans after Floor was on the Dutch tv show beste zangers in 2019.
I also like her metal material better, but I think it's great that she's exploring this other side of her. One doesn't hurt the other imo and it may even give her insights that will shine through her other perfomance as a metal singer...
