FLOOR JANSEN | VILJA LIED | FIRST TIME REACTION | CONSTANZA 

Rumor has it that the seismograph readings throughout the Netherlands wasn't an earthquake or landslide, but was from the jaws of every Netherlander dropping to the floor after seeing this performance. Also, because of this performance and her appearance on Beste Zangers, Nightwish charted in the Netherlands for the first time, especially for their end-of-year songs countdown.

Henk's mother used to sing this to Henk as a young boy. This is why Floor chose to sing this song for Henk. Floor was also actually the first performance of the very first episode of the 12th season. She started the show and set the bar very high indeed. Floor was the only singer who performed an operatic aria for Henk. Loved it Constanza. Beautifully done once again. Peace.

A lot of great performances on this show, not just from Floor. But she did kind of steal the show every week :)

Her interpretation of Lady Gaga's "Shallow" in a later episode is otherworldly...then in the duets final episode she does the same song as a duet with Tim (the guy with the beard) with a totally different interpretation that also ROCKS!

This was the opening performance of the season, so can you imagine being the other singers, knowing that you have to follow that.

This her first introduction to all the other Dutch singers and she blew them away with her ability. She was a huge fan of Henk since she was a little girl. Every song she sang on this show was a revelation. Magnificent.

Sitting here with tears in my eyes, remembering the first time I watched and heard this and it still gets me. Floor was first up with the first song of the show, The other singers had only learned a little bit about Floor and she was in a metal band, they hadn't got a clue what Floor sounded like and I BET they didn't expect that. You can see they were amazed and Henk loved it.

I loved Floors night on the couch. Tim's nemo starting it off. Then sting. Then Emma doing Floors song strong. Sleeping Sun by Sam. Then Latin version of Hotel California was interesting. Then uncle Henk show stopping version of sound of silence. The look on his face at the end. That "hope that didn't suck" look at Floor. Priceless.

It may have been me who referenced this song from "The Merry Widow", as well as the fact tha it was the opening performance of the whole series - so with Floor singing FOR Henk in this and WITH Henk in "Phantom" they topped and tailed the whole series! And I knew you'd recognise it, even if you didn't know it by name. And of course, she kills it! Some heads exploded at that moment :-) I've since adepted what Henk said - "Good music is good music". I look forward particularly to when you get to "Winner" for Tim Akkerman. Have tissues handy!

3:15 Completely true. Well, at least it's a lot more mainstream here than in most countries. I remember couple of years ago I went to the post office at around Christmas to send a parcel and was just minding my own business, until I suddenly realised "Wait a minute! This isn't your typical xmas tunes they're playing...?" And no, it wasn't. It was Iron Maiden. Iirc the song was Wasted Years. Made me smile.

Hello Constanza. I just found your channel due to this listing. While I'm not much into symphonic rock/metal (not a knock on the genre, just not into it any more), Floor is a master of her instrument, probably the best of those that cover multiple genres in the world today. And while I don't present the following women as competitive rivals each represents outstanding mastery of their instruments each representing the past three decades and multiple genres. All three are independent artists. The oldest of these is Morgan James (30s) who has some classical background, done Broadway, been a featured performer with PostModern Jukebox (Dream on) and a prodigious independent artist (the entire Beatles White album) on her channel. She also is a wicked comedian. In her late twenties is Hailey Reinhart with four albums covering jazz, country, 70s rock, and pop genres. She also has been a featured performer with PMJ (7 Nation Army, Creep, Black Hole Sun). She's a voice actor, movie actor, and done commercials. One of the most reacted to performers on YTube over the past 18 months has been the now 17 year old, Russian contralto Diana Ankudinova, whose unique vocal range has stunned almost all who have heard her for the first time. She sings in English, Spainish, French, Arabic in addition to her native language. Singing on the Russian tv show "You Are Super" she won two successive seasons with outstanding performances of Derniere Danse, It's a Man's World, Rechenka, Wicked Game and Human when she 14 & 15. Here genres span from soul, rock, pop, jazz, and traditional Russian folk. She is currently working on her first independently produced album. Her channel has hundreds of live performances recorded over the past decade. Bottom line here, each of these three will bring traffic of different fans who support their fav. Of the three, Diana will probably bring the most, but as I said at the beginning, all three will impress with their mastery of their instrument.

I love how only Tim Akkerman had ever heard her before, and the rest of them only know her as a heavy metal vocalist. And either Floor or the showrunners leaned into that preconception and had her all dressed up in heavy-metal style. Seeing how they react is the best.

Floor was the Highlight in the Beste Zangers NED 2019 show because her songs get better and better, you see her The Phantom of the opera duett with Henk and now Vilja Lied, The Phantom is georgius and Vilja Lied in that stile is also great and you have right, it looks always so easy when she sing, but it's not my favorite, 3 songs she sang there i like much more (after The Phantom🖤), Winner and Que se siente (in spanish) are great but i love her cover from the Lady Gaga song Shallow, it's really great and i'm sure you also will like it. I watched all eight weeks of Beste Zangers 2019. It started off as a thing just to hear Floor, but then I fell in love with the music of the other singers. I loved it when they would perform each other's music, especially when the song was written by the other artist. Such as Floor performing Rubin's "About Love I Don't Know A Thing" or Emma doing Floor's song "Strong". One of the highlights of the show was Floor doing Tim Akkerman's song "Winner". There were some songs on the show that I liked better than others but no really bad songs...And Besides...Where else you going to hear an Opera singer do Country Music??? I would suggest that even if you didn't want to do anymore reactions to Beste Zangers 2019 that you listen to the whole show just for your own pleasure. I know that once I started with 2019 I found that I was going back to previous years and listening to what turned out to be some very amazing music. The previous years was where I found O'G3NE, the sister trio act that seems to have stolen everyone's heart that has heard them, and Davina Michelle, that blew PINK away with a cover of one of PINK's songs. You do this reacting thing really well and I'll be watching out for you as time permits.

Not only Floor Jansen, there are more terrific female fronted metal singers in the Netherlands. Charlotte Wessels (Delain), Dianne van Giersbergen (Ex Libris, Xandria), Simone Simons (Epica), Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Anneke van Giersbergen (Gathering), Zora Cock (Blackbriar), and even her sister Irene Jansen (After Forever, Revamp) are relatively unknown in this country because of the stamp metal. Such a shame ! Please react also to them, starting for instance with the song Rivers from Epica I would recommend.

There were some good singers her and Henk were competing against, anf you can tell they were like "what's a metal singer gonna do here?" But she set the tempo and crushed them. They knew from then on they couldn't keep up. Only Henk could match her in power and skill.

That Floor has definitely brought about something in the Netherlands is evident from 2 things: - 1st “Singer Floor Jansen has won the Dutch Popprijs 2019” that same year with the following argumentation: “According to the jury, Jansen has proved that she is one of the best and most versatile singers in the Netherlands, but also through the concerts with her bands. The jury appreciates that her music "has a connecting force beyond the subculture". - 2nd Dutch Public radio made this statement: “Finnish metal band Nightwish will release their ninth studio album HUMAN on April 10th. : II: NATURE. from. Frontwoman Floor Jansen announced this on social media ”. - That was previously unthinkable. Metal music by Nightwish was in that same year 2019 for the very first time in Dutch history represented on the Radio "Top2000" list and the following year even more higher. No. 365: "Ghost Love Score" and No. 576 "Élan" in the Top2000. On top of that, Floor’s duet at Beste Zangers with Henk Poort No. 105 "The Phantom of the Opera" and remarkable rising. Yeah well, Floor has her fame in Holland too now. This video is already 1 year old, and a lot has changed. Floor is now a "BNer" (Bekende Nederlander (well known Dutchman)).

Only Tim Akkerman knows Floor before this show. The producers throw the "Metal girl" in for the refreshing the lame show. And they all faced the real Queen. It was so hilarious to witness (when you know how is going to happen). "Vilja lied" or "Vilja song" is from the Austrian composer Franz Lehar's operetta "die Lustige Wittwe" or "the Merry Widow". A very popular song. And Floor's rendition is a excellent one. But how on earth you managed to destroy Jenniezelf's subtitles?
