I left a message for my apartment manager asking if they can kindly mediate and let them know about disturbance. The next evening, that same neighbor went knocking on my door and left a note saying to just call her if I have problems with the sound level. My apartment manager actually told her the complaint was from me. For awhile that neighbor and her son gave me dirty looks whenever I passed, her son littered around my car in the parking lot, I had people gossip about me. Sometimes turning to the proper authority actually makes things worse

Actually if you heard the sheriff speak the other evening he said demonstratively that this had nothing to do with stand your ground. Although professional he was making it very clear what this looked like to him based on the evidence and he was not giving the shooter an inch of delight to make a stand your ground claim. I don't know the sheriff but he came across as very professional, sincere and very serious about this case.

Yesterday I was cleaning my yard for trash day and the neighbors were having a summer pool party for their kids and friends. The party shut down with the sun. As I stated we enjoy the sounds of children playing and when you get to know then as we have, they respect you when they are roaming the neighborhood with their friends. My wife and I are both retired and the School Bus stops in front of our house. The neighbors ask if it's OK for them to wait in my driveway because it's cover by my security cameras. All I ask is the stay off the grass and for the most part they all behave knowing they are being watched and the camera doesn't lie.

The problem with that is, the companies the make and sell the guns, have the lawmakers bought and paid for. The majority of people across the political spectrum want sensible gun control. It's not impossible if you look at other civilized countries that allow guns to be owned. But in America, it is so intrinsic to the identity of many and the fear they carry with them, they will not part with weapons of war for the sake even of the children they profess to care about.

An AR-15 is what I'm sure you're talking about, which is a semiautomatic, which has a max capacity of a magazine holding 100 rounds. Your modern handguns are semiautomatic and typically have magazines with a maximum capacity of 30. A person can walk in with a glock with 1 30 round magazine in the firearm and 2/3 30 round magazines on their hip and unleash the same carnage as the AR-15 and 100 rounds minus the 2 seconds it takes to release a spent magazine and lock in the next. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Why are ao many people killing one another is the root cause we need to figure out. It's hard to believe people who have homicidal ideations or commit violent crimes using firearms would just be normal citizens in society if only we remove firearms from the equation. I do support stronger red flag laws, so someone's immediately flagged that has mental health issues and if they've been in contact with law enforcement because of acts of violence, criminally charged or not. There's more forms of red flag we could implement as well, and it's easy to brainstorm ideas. Many people say, "It's legal gun owners that commit mass shootings" and while we're seeing this has been true for quite a few those numbers pale in comparison to the everyday all day murders committed by individuals who live a criminal lifestyle who shouldn't legally have a firearm and carry stolen, illegally obtained firearms. This doesn't diminish the importance to end mass shootings, but it does show us that the number of gun offenses committed by criminals unlawfully carrying a firarm outnumbers gun offenses committed by legal gun ownership by tenfold. Your everyday American exercising their 2A constitutional right isn't the problem. The problem is we need to flag those who shouldn't have the oppurtunity to legally purchase a firearm and we need harsher penalties for those who are felony offenders and get caught carrying because at the end of the day nobody is carrying a firearm because it looks cool. If a criminal is carrying a firarm, then they're willing to take a life with that firarm, and it should be seen as exactly that, and punishment should be harsh. In my state, it's a 2 year sentence. Not much of a deterrent. We might see less gun violence if the penalties of getting busted with a gun are up there in the 25/30 year mark, just getting caught as a felon, not even committing a crime using a firarm 🤷🏽‍♀️ We might need drastic measures like that.

I’m glad my son got the experience of being in a safe neighborhood and going to a safe elementary and Junior high on a military base in California before all the fires. Now he goes to a regular high school with civilian students and other kids from the base I live at.
