Wow, they did not have shoulder restraints when I went on the Zipper in like 2008. We were just at the mercy of that swinging door. I can’t imagine riding that with my adult body 😂 bless you

One of my life goals is to purchase one of those old cheesy 2 level carnival haunted houses...and fix it up to be ACTUALLY scary...slow it down , add some ambiance , music , sound and top notch set pieces and props...Set it up every Halloween at an event

Between the Robot Zoo, meeting Tiger, the performing farm animals, Rick (and Jay) tagging along, feeding Giraffes, the Zipper and Dark rides, that is one of the coolest State Fairs I've ever seen, thanks for sharing the adventure with us Jacob!!!

I recommend the New York State Fair

I've been to the Fla State Fair dozens of times, always a great time! I always loved the Pot Roast Parfaits! I always rode the Zipper back in the 70s, no shoulder restraints back then, only a lap bar!

Back in the 70's and 80's, when I was a kid, I used to LOVE THE HELL out of the Zipper. It was my favorite flat ride. It hits you with every possible G-force in every possible direction, and sometimes, you'll end up doing 5 or six flips in a row (And watching the video, it looked like that ride operator was running that thing pretty slow. It wasn't as flippy and spinny as it was back when I was younger. That ride operator took it easy on you. You should see how that thing scrambles you when they really open that motor up to it's full potential!) depending on how fast the ride operator runs it. If you don't prepare for it, the G-forces will take you entirely by surprise and from directions that you didn't expect them on this one. I'm willing to say that it's the most extreme flat ride that there is, maybe with the exception of Zamperla's Energy Storm, or Ronald Bussink Professional Rides, Evolution. Chance Rides has been manufacturing these monstrosities since 1068. Sadly, carnivals around here nowadays don't seem to have them. Thrill rides are completely gone from traveling carnivals around here now. ALL the rides are always kiddie rides. I haven't seen a thrill ride like the Zipper here since I was a young teen in the 80's. There seems to be an aversion to thrill rides in this state.

The zipper is at like every fair ever, it's usually my favorite though. When I'm on it, I can spin 360 degrees like 5 times in a row. The feeling of being thrown around the corner is really unique

I'm so jealous,The Zipper is my favorite ride.In the late 70's Through the 80's every carnival had the zipper nowadays it is at fairs and amusement parks but hardly ever at Carnival's.

In Southern California, LA County Fair just got moved to May this year. Orange County Fair is in July-August. The LA County Fair used to start right after it.

The Florida state fair looks like a ghost town. I would definitely put the Minnesota State Fair (the great MN get together) on your agenda. You won’t be disappointed. It always takes place during the last 2 weeks of August, ending on Labor Day. I believe it is the largest State Fair in terms of the size of the fairgrounds property. Total attendance is 2nd in the country, beaten by the Texas state fair only because it runs for nearly a month. The MN state fair has an awesome selection of food, great concerts every night, great exhibits, lots of animals, and a ton of fun!

I went to the New York State Fair for the first time last year and tried The Zipper. Yeah! I’m never going on that ride again 😂

I wonder if anyone has ever fainted on The Zipper. I cringed just watching. Such interesting variety! Love the lit up fair at night!

The fact that the fairgrounds are only 10 miles away from Gibsonton (Carny actors, workers and operators winter home) is convenient!

The Wisconsin State Fair has famous creme puffs that they're really proud of. Also farm animals.

Gotta go to the Topsfield Fair in Topsfield Massachusetts. It’s the oldest fair in the country and the pumpkin contest is legendary

It's New England's State Fair so you can knock out Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, & Rhode Island in one go. I live in New Hampshire. We have several State fairs here! The one I always go to is the Hopkinton State fair!

That's called a Flyboard Jacob. It's a device that uses the water jet from the jet ski to fly upward. The hose is attached to the jet ski.

Utah State Fair takes place in September. I haven’t been in over 10 years but I remember enjoying it. Plan accordingly

Indianapolis Indiana state fair one of the best state fairs ever trust me you won’t regret it there is a huge animal Mesum ,mini golf , tons of amazing shops,dairy barn , beautiful lego displays , unique coffee shop , candy store , recommend get food for the dairy barn especially w/ your teeth surgery especially if it still hurts to open your mouth up when you get you here ,etc.

Texas state fair is biggest and best! No others can compare!

You need to come do The Big E in West Springfield, Mass. It’s a huge fair that celebrates all the states in New England. Always takes place end of September, early October

The Zipper at my state fair actually uses a lap bar instead!

I have operated te zipper for a few years. It is definitely fun ride to operate. Also highly recommended Kentucky state fair in Louisville Kentucky.

The New Mexico state fair in Albuquerque is in mid September! It's awesome, I definitely recommend you go if you can 😁

Florida has their state fair in February because it's too hot/humid/rainy in the summer/fall. I've been to the Florida State Fair many times as I live in the Tampa Bay area. Hoping to go this year. I did the Zipper once at a carnival in the 90s... never again. I can ride roller coasters all day long, but most flat rides I can't handle anymore.

Jacob, the Hawaii 50th State Fair is typically in May-June.

Check out the New York State Fair in Syracuse. It's a great time.

The Iowa State fair is one of the best in the U.S. August 11-21, 2022
