Kentucky State Fair - Old School Dark Ride and Haunted House 

Yes. Dark Rides are great. I believe there is an association that preserves the Dark Rides called DARF. Only the Amusment Parks I believe, not carnivals. They are at Knoebles every fall at their Dark Ride Haunted House which is in pristine condition.

And this is definitely an issue. Many of these carnivals have classic rides, but don't have the cash to properly preserve them. All they're concerned about is bare level maintenance, move the thing from place to place, and store the thing in a field for a few months in the off season. Who cares if it gets a little rust when it gets rained on... There really needs to be some interest in ride preservation with carnivals or someone to help with it. There needs to be some kind of flat ride preservation as well as classic trailer mounted haunted house attraction preservation. I've seen so many of these old.. broken down carnivals.... We shouldn't let these rides get lost to time.

We have a REAL haunted house at the State Fair of Texas that scared the living pants off me as a kid. They use new machine stuff from Darkest hour every year I think but idk if it is up and still running there. Have not seen it there in a few years but the line to it would wrap around multiple food stands.

I actually thought that walk-through haunt was atmospheric with the music choice and had some decent black light art of the type you wanna see in a carnival trailer funhouse. At night with less light leakage it's probably pretty creepy!

I know. There was this walkthrough, trailer haunted house at a fair that I remember from my childhood. It was actually pretty creepy due to the dead ends, narrow corridors, fake doorways, and props illuminated by dim, flickering fluorescent lights (they weren't supposed to be flickering). They had a display window outside, and inside it was a Charming Charles piano playing skeleton prop. As time when on, they redid the paint job a few times on the facade, until they used cheap photoshopped images, which was very disappointing. Then, in March last year, they sold it. I have no idea where it is now or who owns it. I hate the idea of it being in a junk yard somewhere. But I have memories of being a small kid a gazing up at the scene painted on its mural. It was very disquieting and unnerves me even now just looking back.

A few years ago a man tried to jump out of a ferris wheel, many carnivals decided it would be safer if they made a no single rider rule. @@rhamilton1663 wow .. but using that theory though not like alot someone can do if someone suddenly stands up and jumps off like ya could grab for them but if they dont want to be saved they would prob slap ya hands or claw at ya anyways

@@rachaelk7866 Depression and suicidal ideation can be a very impulsive thing. Sometimes all it takes is someone reaching to stop you for you to realize the gravity of what you're doing and sit back down in your seat.

@@kimk.2993 sometimes but then I think the point I was making was that You can try and save someone but if they are determined they will fight ya till the end sadly .. some ppl dont always see the light till its too late and realise their mistakes :( ive had family and friends with anxiety and depression and sadly a few did take it till the end :(

They do that all the time on the wild mouse mini coaster. They make you stand off to the side until a group of three showed up to pair you with.

Yes He probably assumed Carpet was obviously sad, depressed and lonely and was going to kill himself. We have a lot of carnival rides here and the Ride operator is always making that judgement. Sad but true.

I know that on Brighton Pier in England they have to have a certain amount of riders per carriage due to the weather at the end of the pier where the rides are situated. I think the rider number changes day to day due to what the weather's like.

@@Charlie-pu9bx but Brighton is by the ocean so that makes sense. Especially if the Ferris wheel is close to where the water is

@@kellyhenderson9972 yes, I know, I just thought it was worth mentioning that the rule of no single riders does occur all over the place. I should clarify and say that there aren't any Ferris wheels on the pier - I was referring to the Crazy Mouse and the other rollercoaster which are there.

Never been to a fair in New England that wasn't expensive..If you have a family I get it..But the Big E is too good to miss..Attendance records are broken almost every year..People find a way to go...I'm one of them..
