I have spent tons of hours sailing these boats. Pretty fun boats to sail and a nice medium size. Great for a transition from a dinghy sailor to a bigger boat. Great video!!

Hi Jim, thanks for the question and comment as always buddy! I guess just through my own travels/work/ relief efforts and exploring.... i've always been drawn to Bahamian fishers/watermen. They are whom i wanted to "grow up to be". And really, I look back and realize that in all the places i have explored in the bahamas, my highlights were ALAWAYS human interactions with locals, forging relationships, and in time growing friendships with like minded individuals there. That was where I put my efforts. I appreciate the simplicity and "disconnect" that exists there and when you meet the right folks it just clicks I guess. The way I met everyone in East End Grand Bahama was after Hurricane Dorian when I started fixing up skiffs here in Florida and giving them to fishers who lost everything. That forged some solid relationships. We'll get you over there one of these days and in the meantime, keep an eye out for a project boat! haha. I like the way you think Wayne! A hull like this, without lift strakes/ chines , or a minimal keel, definitely will have a tendency to not track as well as a purpose built power boat / skiff ( planing hull ) and be more prone to “drifting”, but from the sailboats I’ve converted through the rears it’s always been minimal and manageable / with a little “slide” in the stern when turning sharply. This hull just so happens to be incredibly light especially the day we were exploring those creeks that any decent wind made it a challenge navigating in close quarters. 😬. I have the same problem with a majority of smaller/ lightweight skiffs , and the worst ever was actually my project Pottcake, a 20’ sea craft hull I turned into a skiff. A ton of sheer up front combined with being light in the bow and it acted like a sail in any cross wind and would literally blow me all over the place haha. I guess with any design/ layout, specifically built boat there’s always trade offs! Cheers for your insight/observation and cheers to your channel! I just checked it out, I love it! Central abaco and the east end of GB took the brunt of dorian but we are still here and fighting back every day.

@@liannannette359 yes, my hats off to you all. Many years ago Hurricane Andrew came through my home area, devastating everything it touched. Not to compare it to Dorian by any means, but I felt a portion of what you all have experienced , which is why i started a boat campaign to bring boats/help fishers who needed a jump start to get back on the water. That was how I discovered Sweetings and how I met many of the fishers that live there. :)
