Happy New Year to you Susan !! I have never had the pleasure of going to the Attic, good to know it will be there for another five years !! What a delight it was to hear Jeans thoughts. She is amazing and wonderful from what everyone says! I hope you can continue your friendship with your two new friends. I met my dear friend of 20 years now at the V and A in England while looking at Samplers. If we had not taken the time to say hello and exchange emails, what a loss that would have been. She is an amazing talented woman , who I am privileged to know 😊❤️

Oh, Susan! What beautiful interviews - it so warms my heart to listen to your new friends. And, it’s so true how this community is so embracing. I am so sad I could not attend as planned and meet everyone, especially Jean Lea - she is such a treasure and so look forward to meeting her one day! Her story is compelling and completely understand how her passion for this art and her shop sustain and give her joy! Thank you again - this is beyond delightful!

Though I had the opportunity to visit The Attic twice (tied in with trips to AZ) Summer School 2023 was the first retreat I attended. I went on my own not knowing what to expect and a little apprehensive. To this day I zoom weekly with a friend I met at my table at the retreat. We hardly stitch at all (!) - but talk about our lives and all sorts of things. Our friendship came about because of Jean and her vision. So although my friend lives in AZ and I'm on the East Coast, we keep in touch like we live next door. What a gift. So thank you for this wonderful interview.

I know personally how great The Attic is and that feeling that overcomes you when you walk in the front door! It’s a wonderful shop and Jen makes it! So happy you were able to attend the Symposium! I am going to be in AZ for a ew weeks of February and can’t wait! 😜

Thank you for sharing this flosstube! Absolutely loved every second of it! As soon as I heard Sarah’s voice she brought back so many memories as we spent 4 years in England and one of our children was born there. So not only did I get to share in the three of yours’ friendship and lovely reaction and interchanges with each other (just like you all were friends forever!) but I also had tons of memories flood back to me because of the sound of her voice. Thank you Sarah. Maybe someday my situation will change and I’ll be able to come to a retreat and experience it first hand. I’m use to being the “Lone Ranger” so that isn’t going to be a thing that stops me! And to top it all off with Jean. She is such a lovely person and an inspiration. The story of how she became the face and driving force of the Attic was delightful to hear. Her shop is on my list of hopefully being able to go to also. RU-vid must have done some changes as I wasn’t able to see my notifications or comment on flosstubes since sometime in December but thankfully I was able to discover a way around as I certainly wanted to tell you thank you for this most delightful flosstube.

Well, I’m not first to comment, but I am here to tell you it was a great video. The interview of two of the participants of Sampler Symposium was exactly what a retreat at the Attic is like-the comradery of stitchers, making new friends and learning new things to enhance our art. It’s really hard to pack all that into 2 1/2 days, but it’s so enjoyed by everyone. Then the interview of Ms Jean Lea, herself. What a great idea to get the down low on the beginnings of such an empire!! And to think it was her hubby who initiated it all. What a man!! What a couple!! Of course, it was great to see and talk with you again and I so look forward to future retreats where we can get to share more! Thanks!!

Bravo Susan! What a wonderful video. Both interviews were wonderful. I am trying to schedule two retreats a year if possible. I attended Stitch Con in 2022 and had to cancel a Hobby House retreat last year because my husband had a kidney transplant. This year I am registered for the cross stitch extravaganza at Quilters Station and The Sampler is my life II at Hobby House. There is nothing better than sharing your passion for needlework with friends; whether old or new. I hope to get to the Attic in 2025 and hopefully get to meet you in person sometime. You are a pleasure to watch ❤

Wonderful video!! This is my 1st time watching but it definitely won't be my last. I have never been to the Attic but its on my bucklist. Im 73 so i don't travel much but want to definitely want to see this shop.

Oh Susan, you are such a gift! I loved this entire episode...it expresses the full breathe of what these connections are like...I hope more people will consider the importance of these connections.

So happy you interviewed Jean Lea and memorialized how The Attic came to be the shop we know and love. We owe so much to Jean's vision and passion for this art and yet she remains so humble and inclusive. Glad to neet you in person and wish there was more time to visit; the weekend just flies by.

This was such a nice video, Susan, and the interviews were excellent. I attended SS last year, not knowing anyone, and it’s so true that you find friends! And, yes, I agree with the comment that watching flosstube is like having a friend in the room.

Thank you so much for doing this, Susan! The recaps everyone does are good but it was great to hear people’s firsthand experience and so wonderful to hear from Miss Jean herself about how special the whole experience (the retreat and the store) is. My sister and I attended together and it was our first time at any retreat. We ended up at Carrie’s table and became fast friends. Thanks again for sharing and I look forward to hearing more about your plans for 2024.

Wonderful interviews! I'm so glad you made time to create these memories to share with us! One of the many highlights of my time there was getting to give you a hug! I also met Sarah... she came up and introduced herself and said she may be coming to my area to visit family so I promptly offered to go antiquing with her😍 Meeting Jean was a dream come true and her calm, beautiful spirit is clearly why we make the journey to the mecca that is the Attic. I made the hard decision not to attend Sampler Symposium this year. I thought I could handle that decision like a grown up, but I have found myself feeling so regretful. It would not be prudent for me to attend every event I long to, but I do hope and pray to return for Sampler Symposium next year. It was a dream come true last year. Jean Lea and what she has developed The Attic Needlework to be is the very reason why. What a lovely interview. Thank you, Susan!
