Lovely to have your company as I stitched. Your designs are wonderful, Ellen. My preference for the pillow would be an adaptation. The arboreal is the perfect fabric. Take care.
Hi Ellen!! That gorgeous Rosewood Manor finish! Wow! So many beautiful finishes and wips. Very inspiring! Thanks for your videos and I look forward to seeing more!
Hey! Wifey here…so pleased to have that title for a little while. I’m not sure I can live up to all the nice things you said but I will try😂 So loving all the work you are doing with Roxy floss - it’s just the best. Happy stitching 😄
Hi Ellen! Thanks for another terrific video! I loved seeing your needlepointed animal portraits! They’re so awesome & special! I also loved seeing your INSPIRATION again! It really & truly is such a beautiful masterpiece!! Your newly-framed LITTLE WILLOW LANDSCAPE is gorgeous, as is your little ORIENTAL DRAGON wip! You’ve got lots of really great options in your “to be stitched stash”! Your RAVENS AT CASTLE KERR design is incredible! Had a blast watching you and seeing all of your stitchy stuff (& cracking up a few times too), as always! Have a great month out on the road, and I’ll see you next time!
Sarah Braizear would look great wtih those brighter colors, can't wait to see how that turns out. Beth Cartright had a completed one at the Nicola workshop at Hobby House this past October and it is stunning! Always wanted to do that one. Maybe once I finish the satin-stitch-filled beast "Miss Mary Ann Bournes" .... Beautiful work Ellen and can't wait to see what comes of the Models you are stitching!!
Awwww!🥰I'm so flattered to be your newest BOTS! 🤣🤣🤣😘 It was wonderful meeting you too, Ellen! Just love your pet portraits, so so sweet! And Inspiration? Wow, simply stunning. Just placed my Cedar River order..had to be done! 😁 Happy stitching!!!
Love your finish of the Blue Willow that frame is beautiful. When I seen Mojo Stitches with that bird I have that on the Someday list. I think a adaptation of the Sampler that is a Beautiful design. I love your new release the house wow! Safe travels and hope your day is awesome.
I congratulate you on your beautiful first sampler design. You have such a wonderful sense of humor, even my husband was laughing. For your antique pillow, I would vote for an adaptation.
Your "hobby extension" is so exciting Ellen. If you were to reproduce/adapt your cushion as a sampler I would prefer to stitch mostly over 2 but a bit of over 1 for faces or flower details is fine by me. Love your videos and looking forward to the new designs.
Very enjoyable. Love your sense of humor. Love stitching all samplers! I don't differentiate, as long as it's pretty & catches my interest. I'm sold! I purchased your first sampler pattern from evertote and I must say you hit out of the park! So beautiful! Looking forward to stitching it soon.
Enjoyed all your new designs very much. I would go with adaption all the way - I trust your eye and needle. Absolutely sure the sampler will be exquisite.
So great to see such a talented stitcher designing. I love all samplers and am a sucker for a reproduction sampler or a good adaption. Till next time, happy stitching!
Welcome back! Another great video. So enabling. I adore the pet portraits. My Truffles used to play with her toy mouse on the stairs when I lived with my parents. She's now an old lady, so she spends most of her time sleeping and hating her brother....lol. As for the sampler pillow, I vote to adapt it, because my vision is crap and I don't want to do a bunch of over one in the evening after working hard all day.
Thanks for another great video! I don't normally post anything on social media but I just wanted you to know how much your designs are appreciated. I am stitching "There is Always Room" and I am really touched by the sentiment. It's really lovely, and thanks for designing with Leo Floss Co. floss. The color density of their flosses is amazing! And, I prefer an adaptation for your forthcoming "pillow project", which I know won't be a pillow. Thanks again for your beautiful designs!
I Love your pet portraits!! What a great idea to add their name and description. I purchased a few of your smaller designs. Love them. I’m not much of a sampler stitcher. I enjoyed your video. 😂😊
I like the idea of a reproduction sampler. I am amazed by your stitching, your stash and your designing. I mean I have "farted" around on pattern making programs to customize names dates etc but lady yours is amazing! Oh and you should totally rock the grey!
Hi Ellen. Happy New Year! Congrats on the extension of your hobby. Great pieces. I wish you the best with it. Very exciting. Safe travels. I would go for an adaptation of that gorgeous cushion. Also, let it go grey. I've done it & it's quite freeing. 💖
Congratulations on your designing and website! How exciting! I look forward to seeing your stuff! 😅 I do love your animal designs of your pets. Very unique. Regarding the Sampler, I would rather have the adaptation because I truly dislike over one stitching on linen or evenweave. However, both will be beautiful, that’s for certain! Good to see you Ellen and thank you for sharing!
Oh my goodness, how have I not found you before now…??!!❤️🔥💖. I love that you’re friends with RyRY McGuy too, he’s 100% lovely. I’m just returning to cross stitch after a 30 yr hiatus and I can’t believe I’ve never stitched a sampler. I’m fascinated with the reproduction samplers - I find history very interesting and love to have a glimpse into past lives. Fun fact - I was born in Ontario & lived there until I was 12. I’ve never been back but my favourite memories are going to the museum of Science & Technology (the crooked kitchen was mind bending to me 😄) and skating on the Rideau Canal & stopping for a hot cocoa at one of the little shacks.
Welcome back to cross stitch. We hope you brought a nice hot beverage and your credit card because BOY have things changed in the past 30 years!😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey Kim you are the winner of a free pdf from my shop. Pop over to www.maximumcrossstitch.com and pick a pdf you want and let me know at maximumcrossstitch@gmail.com and I will email you the pdf! Yay!!
👋 great to see you again… love the pet portraits.. I too have a 12 year old black lab named Sam 😮… he is also slowing way down. Love that Rosewood manor piece ❤ good luck with your new adventure
The cushion is beautiful. It almost looks like they are standing on an island or mountain. The dark brown behind the pair would look good in a blue as if it were a river. Fun video!
Lovely to see you again. Love, love, love that Inspiration by Rosewood Manor! For the pillow sampler - I would be happy with an adaptation for full crosses. You are making fantastic designs and I share a lot of your stitching likes too! BTW, I was one of the first at my Hospital to go grey and then others followed suit, however, I think you are too young and with your rock star qualities - hold off. (Just my opinion). Cheers.
I generally don’t care if a sampler is an adaptation or a reproduction. I just look at what I find prettiest. For the pillow that you got, I’d definitely stitch it if you will chart it with all the over 1 stitches! It adds lots of details, the texture looks different, it’s perfect. (You could potentially chart both options; over one and fully over two 😉). The over one portions make this pillow look extra special and give it just that bit extra. The pillow is truly gorgeous.
Great to see you again Ellen. Happy new year. I think you should adapt the pillow sampler - as little 1 over 1 as possible. Maybe just their faces. 🤔 Congrats on your new designing venture, love what you've done so far.
Congratulations on your new business/extension of your hobby. Looking forward to seeing more of your designs. I like to stitch reproduction samplers. I guess I prefer being true to the original. I think letting my grey show is part of who I am and I am ok with it but you should do what feels right for you.
Happy New Year Ellen!! I adore your pet portraits!!! And I agree that you need to jazz up Sarah Brazier a bit. Your works are gorgeous, as always!!! Loved getting an actual hour.... i've always been a little perturbed about your false advertising until today.❤️🤣 😂❤️🤣😂❤️🤣😂
I think an adaptation would be less stressful as I can be a little creative . I like your ethos of changing the colour palette a little. Jan x ps the pet portraits are a hit.
Your pet portraits are amazing and now I’m thinking about how I would describe my own dog. Maybe “Bailey: Judgy and loving,” because he thinks we’re idiots but he still wants the pets.
That was a fun visit, thanks 😄 Wishing you a happy, healthy new year. I also hope the year is amazingly successful for you with your new venture. I love your pet portrait needlepoints, and the whimsy of them. You could adapt something like those to cross stitch for all the pet lovers out there, and they could choose their own whimsical wording. As to changing reproduction sampler colours, you do realize that the stitchy police aren't going to show up to your door, put you in jail for months in a cell filled with nothing but peach DMC to stitch with. Police funding is depleted these days, so very little is being designated to the stitchy police patrol. You're safe, so go for whatever you want to do!
So much to comment on! Did you hear me talking to you?! I’m 100% in on making a Sampler mine/yours- I do attribute the original and the reproduction artist on the back of a framed piece. On the full coverage model: I think there are enough fabric options out there to leave out stitching the background. My dogs love hearing your cats. And finally- a Sampler of farts that sound like harps would be fabulously fun. 😁 Cheers.
So glad you’re back! I knew you’d want to stitch the Mojo Stitches bird! I thought of you the first time I saw the pattern! Would love to see a reproduction of the Jacobean pillow. I prefer to stitch a reproduction sampler that I adapt myself. I’m also related to the Kerrs from Scotland! Happy stitching! 🧵🪡
Happy New Year Ellen. It’s good to see you back again. Congratulations on the extension of your hobby - I’m looking forward to seeing all of your new releases. I have yet to stitch a proper sampler, but I’m thinking There’s Always Room might just have stolen my heart!
I disappeared from stitching for quite awhile as my 79year old hands were toast ! I failed to say it has been 2 years ago Now I have to be careful and not so " I have to finish everything at once ". And " Oh look " I need to do that one when enticed by other's beautiful patterns .
Girl, you are on fire! It’s great to see you sharing your stitchy passion with us. Love your patterns. I would like to see your pillow sampler as an adaptation, maybe using one over one on the facial details. That’s my two cents. Nice to see you again
So glad you are back with your videos, and I am so looking forward to your new designs, your sampler and any project you show us! The pet portraits were very life like and brought back memories of my very much loved pets.
Happy New Year! All your sampler stitching is beautiful. Love the tribute designs to your sweet fur babies. I vote….1- to go gray. 2- adaptation for sure!
Have missed your face !! So great to see you back and loving that your taking on the extension of your hobby ❤ love any sampler but I seem to get drawn more towards the adaptation of the sampler 😊
Happy New Year. I love stitches of your pets. Very cute way to honor each one of them. I am an Aida stitcher, so I hope the sampler your working on can be stitched on Aida too. I can’t wait to see everything you have been designing behind the scenes.
Your pet needle points are so cute. What a fond way to remember them! I have not done a sampler but that is on my radar for this year. I think adaptations are better. Your work and deigns are amazing. ❤❤
Hi. I hated losing my brunette hair color to the greys but everyone loves the color and hair stylists always comment on what a pretty mixture of greys it is. I still wish I was a brunette though! That Rosewood Manor kill’s me - but man that is too intense for me to stitch. I will just enjoy looking at yours. And if I was stitching that sampler I would want it as an adaptation. That amount of over one stitching is bonkers! Happy New Year. I watched your flosstube while working on “There is Always Room”. Such a pretty chart.
Oh I’m So happy you’re stitching on There’s Always Room!! Thank you. I think my natural hair colour is kind of rodent like so the transition to full grey might be painful. 😬😂
So nice to see you back. I enjoyed seeing your current projects and your potential upcoming projects. The framed pieces you showed are absolutely stunning. The Rosewood Manor is amazing. I love all your pet portraits, so cute! My vote is that I would prefer an adaption of the cushion rather than a reproduction. Thank you for another wonderful video and Happy New Year!
Good evening from the Hammer! Great video Ellen, thanks for taking the time to share all your "stuff". I love the pillow design & would stitch it however you chart the sampler. I like to stitch over one so that wouldn't deter me. Looking forward to seeing the finish so crack on would ya?!!!
Your designs are fantastic! And your pet portraits are such a wonderful contrast! - the Jacobean pillow is fantastic, especially on that fabric - I vote for an adaptation - I did my first one over one on a sampler recently and not such a fan!
Trying this comment again, because it seems to have disappeared… Your large MFE piece would be gorgeous as the interior of a medallion quilt. Build a fabulous border around it and you could drape it over stair railings which is really common when folks display quilts! Call me crazy! But I was a quilter first, and I’ve recently been working with a charity, making baby quilts using donated Crosstitch pieces. And I’ve become so intrigued by how Crosstitch can be used in quilting.
go for the grey if you are willing to cut it short - my advice for what it is worth. Love your channel - just found it. i just started cross stitch in 2022. Have done needlepoint many years ago. I'm a Canadian living previously in Windsor but just made a move to NB (like so many other Canadians) in 2021.
You're back! So good to sit and have a "chat" with you. I love your pet portraits. The best! Thanks for the permission to paint outside the box with reproduction sampler. You make a great point and as a newer reproduction stitcher I've struggled with whether I should make things my own- especially deciding to memorialize my history and relatives vs keeping the girls' names preserved. The arboreal dip (design in progress) is gorgeous and I would vote for an adaptation with minimal 1x1.
Had a wonderful time watching your flosstube! Looking forward to all of your new releases. Love your first sampler release (There is always Room). It is very beautiful. Would love to stitch it in the near future.
Hi Ellen. Beautiful work! I actually like the way your blue project was framed. The larger white border makes the stitch work pop out and not compete with the gorgeous frame.
Awesome video. Love so many of the designs that you wish you could stitch. Love your progress that you've got as well. Every stitch counts. Even if it's not much. Still counts. Look forward to seeing the new designs your coming out with. And it's always interesting to see how people convert/change how a sampler looks.
Glad you’re back! Travel safe. I love the pillow that you found, so I’d be happy with an adaptation sampler. People amaze me with their personalization of samplers. It’s yours, so make it yours! Hurry back!
Happy New Hear Ellen! Cant wait to see you throw up a new sampler!! Oh my gosh I laughed so hard…I am team silver sparkle when it comes to hair color..I get complements with my silver sparkle hair..never did as a brunette! ..lol..plus blue eyes and grey are a smashing combo..
Just came back to finish watching. Would love the Jacobin design without over 1. I would rather do French knots than over 1 stitching. Samplers are hard enough already, and I agree 100% that we can alter as we like reproductions when we buy them. 😘😘
My vote is for the simplified adaptation of a SAMPLER. It is beautiful with the over one but, like you said, there's so much of it, I'd be disinclined to want to stitch it even though I love it so much!
Happy New Year, so good to see you back and looking so well. I think with your needle point sampler, I would much rather see an adaptation than a stitch for stitch recreation, I think it gives you a bit more leeway to add your own style into it ❤️❤️❤️
Yay! Happy to see you back :) You are such an enabler, I want to stitch so many more samplers now. Regarding reproduction vs adaptation of a sampler I don't mind either way but I do wish charts were a bit more clear on it. I bought some patterns that looked like a reproduction (nothing on the cover indicating otherwise) and it's only when you open it that you see "original work by so and so, inspired by... ". It's still a beautiful pattern but it doesn't hit the same than knowing it was originally stitched 2 centuries ago.
Ya I totally understand that. So even if there would be a lot of over 1 stitching you’d rather stitch a true repro then. I kind of agree with you, but I don’t mind over 1 stitching.🙂❤️
Happy New Year Ellen! Love seeing your needlepoint pet portraits and your cross-stitch designs. I usually prefer adaptations of the original period designs, especially when you can avoid the background by stitching on a lovely hand dyed fabric. I also prefer sampler patterns that can be stitched as full crosses, though I appreciate textured or other specialty stitches...I'm just lazy enough that if I'm not feeling it, I do regular Xs rather than specialty stitches!
I would like to stitch a sampler adaptation. The Ravens of Kerr Castle is terrific. I'd be interested in doing it as you stitched it with different types of stitches. Will such a chart be available?
I love all your work. I’d like to start putting my work in frames but don’t know how to work out what size frame I’d need. Please can you tell me how I’d do this? Thank you.
I think an adaptation would be great for that cushion. All the whining I hear about over one! 😂 Mostly me! Sarah Brazier is a stunner but the Il Fazzoletto from MFE (or the tablecloth) 😂 is a stunner! I am going to start it actually, and if you don’t want to frame it you could always hem stitch the edge or simple turn the edge under and sew it under. It would be beautiful either way and then you could get it out periodically and impress people with it or your cats…😁 Glad to see you back, I have missed you.
loved seeing your past finishes, especially the pets. I think the pillow would look great as a reproduction sampler. I like doing 1×1, but maybe soften those demon dogs. i am sure it will look good either way.
I think the adaptation of the sampler would work and I like the colours on the front of the cushion so no need to open the cushions to smell the farts 😆. I love the swans at the river house and there’s always room.
