All of us need to flood the web with your Floss Tube site to raise it's subscribers WAY up. May not be a million but we may try! Love you floss tube. I have already gone to a couple of sites you mention. I am stitching and loving Weeks Dye Works Red Rocks red. It is my favorite now. See you next time.

A bat in the house brings back memories. I grew up in a very old house and a bat would fly around every now and then. My favorite color is Gloriana schoolhouse red.

Can I admit to being excited for your son? It must have been a magic moment for him to have a bat fly in his room. ❤ red thread is fun since it's such a lovely pop of color. I love the deeper reds but a few years ago I stitched something with Threadworx bleeding hearts and it was amazing. So rich and soft.

My favorite red thread is DMC 816. I have had two bats in my house. The first incident happened when I opened my back door one evening. I thought a bird flew in. When I found it on the draperies I realized it was a bat. Eek! I called my next door neighbor and he came over to catch it and then release it back outside. The second time I had just returned from vacation and went into the bathroom. There, plastered above the waterline of the toilet bowl, was a bat. Yikes! Once again my neighbor came to the rescue. Thankfully I have my very own Bat Man.

I chuckled when I saw the back of Winifred’s spool. All I could think of is her outgrowing her corset! Thank you for the freebie charts. I have collected spools for years, so hopefully I will be able to adapt them to fit. I imagine parents for centuries have repeated your husbands words, “ You’re not keeping it!” Lol

We bought an old 1800 farmhouse about 25 years ago. Bats came with the purchase of the house. We have them removed professionally every 2 years. They love this place. The best technique for catching them is to bat them down to the floor, cover them with a jar and throw them out the door. My favorite red is DMC 304.

I had a recent encounter with a bat too. I keep a butterfly net in the garage for just such occasions. Of course, my cat gets VERY excited when a bat gets in & she tries to help me. I was quite pleased as I had the bat headed for the open front door, but then it made a sharp left and went into our bedroom! I’d forgotten to close the door.! Acchh! So the bat is circling the bedroom and the cat is on the bed leaping around after it. All of a sudden the cat jumped and knocked the bat out of the air and onto the floor right in front of me! The bat was a bit dazed, so I scooped it up in the net and took it out on the porch and released it. For a chunky old cat she can sure move fast when she wants to.! She got extra treats that day!

Oh my goodness! What an experience...for you, your cat and the bat! A great idea re the butterfly net. I'll invest in one...just in case the bat comes calling again! 🦇

Love all your thread spools in this video and special thanks for sharing the Be Kind, Be Brave and Be You charts. Your archive took me back to the 1960s - I had those prints on my wall when I was small - and had a very red bedspread - my then favourite colour. Raspberry red threads are my favourites shades, no particular brand. Am now, not so patiently waiting, for spools of Sulky 12 in a few red shades to try out. I have been stitching for over 40 years and Floss Tube is such a great way to share our enjoyment - and inspire each other. THANK YOU for your videos - bat's and all!

That red bag is lovely. I like many red colors, I am away from home right now and can not go threw my threads to choose but I like deep red, perhaps like a barn red. My daughter has had a problem with a bat in her house now and again. I had one years ago when I lived in the country and yes it can cause quite a stir especially if you have a cat. Love the history you give us with your samplers.

Oh Christina! Your bat story had me chuckling out loud. I’m not so sure that I would have handled it so well though had the bat been in my own house! I did stitch one Hummel back in 1993. It came as a kit and I used the provided Aida and floss. The design is of a little angel with wings. He’s wearing a gown with stars on it, and he is holding a tall red candle. I love it to this day and it still hangs in my house. Favorite red? Dear me!! There are just too many gorgeous ones to have to pick just one. Thank you for your lovely videos. Always a treat.

I really am enjoying your site as I enjoy family history and have researched a number of people from my family in past generations. I really think learning about the needle workers as you do is wonderful! Wouldn't it be fun to find them related to you and share in the same past time as they did so long ago? For them however I've learned it was a way of proving their skills as a suitable wife and well educated your woman as so few went onto formal education. You honor them well. I am not that far along in my cross stitch history but I do enjoy 498 DMC red thread so far as it is one called for in the Celtic Christmas Lady that I began working on this year and hope to continue stitching her again closer to Christmas. I'm working away on a HAED that takes most my time but I like to include seasonal stitching too as breaks along the way. Thanks so much for sharing and congratulations on your following and reaching 5,000 followers!

Hello Iris , I have just completed a lovely red work mystery sampler in DMC 816 and I’m really happy with the result, however, I have now discovered DMC 3777 and have fallen love with that red, so now that’s my favourite red. I must tell you many years ago we had a farm and there were often little micro bats at night. One night as we were sleeping with our bedroom window open a couple of inches, a little bat flew in and got caught in my long hair. After much excitement and screaming on my part, I might add, it loosened itself and flew up the chimney in our bedroom. Needless to say that window was then only opened after a screen was put in. I’m loving your you tubes and your beautiful stitching. Blessings Gail

I'm currently stitching Ann Grant 1829 with a Gloriana Schoolhouse red, so that's my favorite right now. We have had a few bats in the house in 25 years and when it happens there is a lot of screaming from me. My husband manages to capture them but it's not easy. I really love your designs and the fact you give the history behind them. I am fairly new back into cross stitching after about a 35 year break. I am so amazed at all the new floss, fabric and designs that are available today that were not available 35 years ago. I don't have very many different brands of floss and have only just started buying overdyed flosses. I mainly have DMC and most of it is very old floss. Of the floss that I do have, I would say that DMC 321 is probably my favorite red floss.

My favorite Red thread is Cranberry by Glorianna. Your videos are delightful. My S-L had a bat land in her hair and it got all twisted up. Needles to say she is frightful of bats. We live in the country and have bat houses. They keep the bugs, mosquitoes and what not at bay. Thank you. See you next time.

Oh my goodness. I think I would have panicked if it had got caught in my hair! My husband is very laid back when dealing with these sort of issues - luckily! 😂😉

My favorite red thread is DMC 815 medium garnet. Thank you for telling the back stories on the sampler stitchers. We had a bat come into the house when I was young due to a gap at the base of the attic door. They would terrorize us if we had to go into the attic at night. Eventually, they were exterminated. Creatures that can carry rabies are not good housemates.

Oh my, Dana! I can’t imagine having several of them in the house! We have closed the vent in our log burner, so hopefully we will have no more winged visitors! 🦇🦇🦇

Love this latest video, I love the information you give about samplers, it brings them alive. Thank you for the freebies, which I will be stitching, hopefully soon. Loved your bat story and you were all so calm whilst it was flying around your home. I love the colour Red and have just finished a small sampler with a variegated Red from DMC, this is the first time I have used this thread and love the outcome. Congratulations on your 5K subscribers, happy stitching 🧵

I have been hearing about your designs but didn't know you had a channel until you showed up on my recommended feed tonight. The fact that you didn't scream loud enough to shatter windows when a bat flew by your face was enough to get me to subscribe.🦇 Your designs and ideas are inspiring, thank you. The red I am most drawn to is Candy Apple like Week's Dye Works by the same name.

I love red samplers! Almost any red will work as long as it is not too pink or too orange. Some colors I like are DMC 304, 321, 498, and 3777, or any overdyeds in those color ranges. We never had a bat in the house, but we did have a snake. My husband was able to dispose of it, otherwise (he jokes) we would have had to burn the house down. I look forward to your videos and your new releases.

I too have a bat story. We had just purchased our 1st home and I was sweeping the front porch when I looked up and saw a bat. I immediately screamed and ran off the porch to put up the for sale sign again! But to answer the question, my favorite red thus far is schoolhouse red by Gentle Arts. Oh and congrats on achieving 5k subscribers!

It’s always hard to choose normally it depends on the chart and the fabric I’m using and of course what the designer recommendation is! I adore all of your designs and they are a pleasure to stitch! Congratulations on 5K subscribers! Thank you for sharing your sources for the vintage spools. I've been wanting to get some but didn't know where to find them. Your bat story reminded me of the time when I was a kid and there was a bat that got into our basement. My father got his rifle and shot it while it was sitting on top of the heating oil tank. Luckily he didn't miss the bat, but needless to say, my mother was not very happy. My favorite red floss colors are the Prairie Schooler DMC reds...3777, 221 and 815. I admire your dedication to find out as much as you can about the history of your samplers and love hearing their stories.

Christina, your spool finishes are absolutely precious!! And CONGRATULATIONS on 5,000 subscribers!!! My very first red sampler was your precious Miss Piggin, and I stitched her in DMC 816 thread. I love how deep and rich it is. I have many more red samplers to finish, including at least one of your other reproduction samplers. I plan to use a different red for each one. This red bag and thread would be a fantastic addition to my red collection!!
