This all looks like so much fun - where do you find the time to do all of this? I’ve been working on a large cross stitch picture Calle Gracious Era for over 20 years. Your’ve inspired me to pull it back out and finish it! You’re amazing! Hugs.
For binding the red and aqua Bonnie and Camille you could do either the bolder red or a softer neutral--either would work for very different looks! But given the softer values of the piecing fabrics (personal opinion coming 🙂for what it's worth) I think the softer/neutral binding would keep the focus on the beautiful piecing. I'm picturing the quilt folded and hanging on a ladder. That's really a lovely quilt!! How nice it will be to enjoy looking at it finished in your living room. If that were my quilt, for backing I would probably keep it not too bold. Love the flosstube and quilting content. 💖 Right now I'm doing a much needed and long overdue massive tidy of the quilting studio. I ran out of space to put things away but I didn't fix that problem and things got REALLY messy in there!!! With some helpful input from my mom ❤ the master organizer, I have now dealt with that bump in the road, have spent a few days breaking the back of that mess, and nearly back to a workable space. I love to do seasonal cross stitch and mostly small patterns. Thankfully I am retired...I don't know how I would be able to do all 3 of my passions and work.
Hi Nichol! I'm new to your channel - RU-vid thought I might be interested in your content as I watch a lot of Flosstube and they made a great recommendation ☺. Like you, I re-entered the cross stitch crafting world around the same time as you. I also quilt, wool appliqué, and paper craft. It's been a good 5 years since I've done paper crafting, however I have all of my stash and tools as crafting interests seem to change throughout time and I know that I'll be re-entering paper crafting as well. I also find that paper crafting supplies inter-twine with other hobbies. Happy to have found your channel and will be tuning into your going-ons. Off I go to watch your other videos 🥰

I used to cross-stitch a lot years ago and after I had children, I dropped the hobby. At a certain point, I picked up scrapbooking and cardmaking so I never picked up cross-stitch again. You have given me the itch to start again. I love all the linens, flosses and fabrics. I also would like to take some introductory quilt classes. Your creations are so beautiful. Yay and Hooray! I am sooooo excited that you are doing cross stitch and quilting, along with card making! Like you, I was an avid cross stitcher for many years and recently started doing that again and am loving it. Quilting is also an interest, though I am still an amateur. The unfinished patriotic quilt would look good with an aqua border to pull out the aqua from the top. Theres already way more red than aqua so i would do a cream/white binding. The backing would look great with something similar to the one on the finished patriotic quilt

Oh my goodness, this video! ❤️🔥 I got so excited about that beautiful patriotic flag quilt that I jumped online and found some of the My Mind's Eye fabric and BOUGHT IT!! I'm so excited! (Isn't it funny how we fall so hard for certain fabrics?! 😄) For the record, finishing projects is the hardest part for me, too. My quilting friend is SO GOOD at doing till it's done, but I generally fizzle out after I get my quilt tops sewn together. How wonderful of you to share your other creative gifts with us! I appreciate quilting as my grandmother did it and tried hard to make me love it-- the projects always just seemed overwhelming. She did, however, reel me into her other love-- cross stitch-- which I haven't picked up to work lately. I love the idea of kitting so it's stiching-ready. I'm inspired to do that with the handful of projects otherwise ready to go. Thanks for the inspiration and reminding me of my grandmother, her favorite hobbies, and what she shared with me.

I too, used to cross-stitch when my boys were little and since I’ve been watching Kimberly, it has renewed my interest and my son bought me a few patterns including Heartfelt. I'm sure that in another 15-20 years that is what I will be looking at. My dad had both knees replaced about 5 years ago. He called me last night to tell me sorry for the arthritis genes. LOL He loves. his new knees, though!
Hi! Pillow form and back big yes from me, would love to see how you make them. I’m a multi crafter as well. I haven’t made cards in a while, and a few years ago gave most of my stamps, scrapbooking supplies away. I still pull it out on occasion. I started stitching in 1990, I started quilting 17 years ago, I make my own project bags and accessory pouches. FQS is basically my go to for crossstitch supplies. I think I have enough fabric for quilts to out live me, but every once in a while I find a piece I can’t live without. Thanks for sharing your work.

So glad you shared your quilts and cross stitch! My grandma taught me crocheting, cross stitching and needlepoint. She was in a quilting guild as well but I can’t sew beyond fixing buttons and ripped seams. I absolutely love all of your quilts!! I have been cross stitching The Stitching with The Housewives patterns "Home is Where the Wreath is" and struggling with the black fabric I chose. I read a tip online for dark fabric. They use a light box underneath the fabric. I thought you might already own a light box. I'm looking forward to your next video!

How fun! I'm another cross stitching cardmaker, although not a quilter! Had to giggle at your Cross Country Stitching magazine find. Not too long ago, I "culled the herd" of my back issues -- so many! I kept the ones which have designs I especially liked. Of course, I will have to live several lifetimes to stitch all the designs I have in my possession!

Hey Nichol...good for you getting back into this, because I could clearly see the passion on your face. So, kin d of embarrassing, especially at my age, but I know absolutely nothing about quilting, nor have I ever used a sewing machine. The only thing I've done is cross-stitching on cards, hand sew a button on a shirt and hand sewn hems on pants. So my question is this, any tips on where I would begin to learn about quilting? I've always loved all the stunning handmade quilts I've come across in my day and I suppose I didn't think I could learn to do it for myself. Any feedback would be appreciated. I would highly recommend the Fat Quarter Shop RU-vid Channel. They have MANY videos (great quality) and a lot of tips and tricks that I think would be perfect for a first time quilter.

Yes! You can do it! I just squeeze in a few stitches when I can. It's SO relaxing! (And I'm not sure why they say not to lick the threads. I saw it in a video awhile ago and I keep meaning to look it up!).
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this video! And I'm very much looking forward to seeing how you combine your crafts into one room -- that's one of my, well, my biggest organizational issue. Right now I have just my paper crafts in one room, but I'd like to have everything in one room -- since I'm lucky enough to have a room.... I've just joined a needlework group and I'm pulling out all my cross stitch stuff I haven't worked on in ages -- and I'm hoping to make some cards with the Spellbinders and Waffleflower dies to sell at our October Tent Sale -- proceeds support a local historical organization. When I mentioned the possibility at our last meeting it created a lot of excitement -- a make-n-take for the Tent Sale and a kids' class for a summer camp! I have a lot of die cutting coming up!
I would LOVE to see a video on making your own pillow form! I have stitched piece that has been sitting for years because I can't find the right size form. I have considered different ways of adlibbing but I would really like it the way I originally saw it - so I need the right size form - HELP please!

So nice to see your cross stitching and quilting! I do cross stitching “on the side” when I am not paper crafting. I finished a sampler that I started years ago, but didn’t like the fabric. It was too dark. Now I am re-doing it in a light fabric and different coloured floss rather than two colours. And I am loving it! Totally agree with changing it when your not happy with it….sorta wish I had done that sooner…..🤔😉 Thank you for sharing Nicole!!🥰
We have many similarities I was not aware of. I too used to do a lot of cross stitch when my children were younger. I also make quilts occasionally. I have now picked up crochet and I make cards. On the other hand...I have issues with my knees. I have the arthritis, have had numerous Baker's Cists, therapy, Cortisone shots, etc. Long story short, I had both knees replaced in Sept 2019. I hope you don't end up there. I love all your samples you have shown. I used to have a subscription to a cross stitch magazine. I don't remember the exact name but I am pretty sure I have them packed away somewhere. I don't know where you find all the time and energy for everything. Your quilts are beautiful too. Much more elaborate than mine, for sure. I don't usually comment but now you can see why...rambling on. Looking forward to the next videos. TFS

I used to cross stitch but the eyes limit me. My daughter did beautiful cross stitch. It was replaced with diamond dots. Lol. On that quilt you need a binding for have you thought about the aqua. I was thrilled to come across this! I too have picked up some of my cross stitch patterns that were started & never finished. Unfortunately I’m finding the linen I’m using for the most part isa lot smaller than what is easy for me to see. Yes, a hoop does help. I’ve also got some beautiful hand embroidery patterns of flowers to start! Unfortunately the shop we had in Topeka had to close so I really miss seeing what is new…which is probably a good thing! My quilting has taken a back seat when I had to make my Christmas cards. I have all kinds of blocks done but my design wall is down & it’s really hard to put the blocks together w/o one. So glad to hear I’m not the only one with UFOs! You’ve inspired me. Thanks Nichol!

After watching your video, it reminded me when I used to weave yarn on my knitting loom and I made a bunch of pillows. I filled them with polyfill and crocheted the edges, so much fun! I’ve been subscribed to your stamping channel for a long time and have always appreciated the inspiration you share. But now this channel has taken on so much more and I don’t think once a week will be enough! Lol! I think we are related somewhere down the ancestry line. I cross stitched for years. Right behind me is hanging a replica of a 19th century sampler that I had made for my mother on her 70th birthday. I also have a few other wall hanging that were gifts and have come back to me, and I’m so happy they did. I haven’t cross stitched in years but have considered starting up again. And along comes the addition to your channel. I’m thinking it’s a sign. I have so many questions I want/need to ask. Would love at some point if you would consider a Q&A section in your videos. And yes, I would love to see the pillow form being made and yes, yes, yes, I want to see more if everything. A deep dark secret - I’ve always wanted to learn how to quilt! Hi Nichol. I love the looks of cross stitch but when I tried it, I couldn’t define the shades of a color at all. Down the road I might try stitching needlework with yarns. I crochet since I self taught myself in late 70s. Tried hand knitting but too slow for me. I’ve done a little bit of loom knitting for the past few years. I’ve been learning card making for the past couple of years and love it! I never thought I could make cards, as it seemed intimidating at first. I do love watching quilting though. I’m not good at sewing but am always interested. Your always so good at teaching. 😊❤️🇨🇦
I love that you crochet and make cards! That is wonderful Cathy! And I'm big proponent of love the process. It doesn't have to be "good". Many imperfections are hidden in pieced blocks once it's been quilted! I promise mine are NOT perfect!
