I can’t get my fabric tight enough. How do I tighten the fabric?

I need to ask whether the size of your canvass was much larger or the same as the size of your finished piece. When I buy small canvasses in a kit, they seem to have a short or narrow margin for wrapping onto the frame. Then as I work and roll the finished part onto to the top roller, the stitches look like they get distorted from the pressure. Is that because the rollers are too skinny? Does that damage the completed stitches? Should the rollers be wrapped beforehand to make them larger so they won’t pull so much on the work? A lot of questions there. Thanks

I always add 3 inches on each side of my fabric / canvas as a border. This way the framer or finisher has enough room for finishing. So if design itself is 4 x 6 I would cut the fabric 10 x 12. Most fabric that is induced in kits have a very small allowance on the edges for finishing with it being one maybe 2 inches around. I have used scroll frames for most of the time I have been stitching 30+ years and have never had the stitches get distorted from being scrolled up. In my experience they are protected from being warped or stretched. With the EZ Stitch Scroll Frames there is no need to add anything to the scroll frame before scrolling up the fabric. What type of scroll frame are you using? I hope this answers some of your questions. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Is that larger one the 18 inch one? How do you like it?

I have the rods with the cloth on them (I think before the rods with Velcro were invented). Is a particular way I should attach the Velcro on them ( my order is in the mail). Thank you! I love this lap frame..just tired of basting fabric on them!😊
@embroidery.comcrossstitchh3297
You can rip off the webbing on the rods then get the EZ Stitch Tape for rods and put that on them. Then you are ready to go

Hi. I was wondering about washing and do you cut the velcro off the fabric before you wash? I've got a few pieces I'm doing on easy count gridded lugana. Thanks

Yes you would cut it off before you was it. I cut it off right after i am done stitching / when i take it off the scroll frame.

You need to make sure before you put the material on the scroll rods , to find the center first and Mark it.

I have the rods with the fabric on them. I understand that you said that the fabric can be taken off and this new EZ Stitch Tape applied. I was wondering if you could show or tell me how to apply the new tape so it stays in place.
@embroidery.comcrossstitchh3297
First make sure you are getting the correct tape for rods. I will add a link at the end for the correct tape. Grab a ruler and mark a line down the rod. Once you have the EZ Stitch Tape for rod cut a strip the same length as your rod. Then remove the back of the tape as you go down. You will notice it is super sticky so take it slowly and only remove a small amount at a time. Once you have applied the tape all the way down go back over it with firm pressure and then you are ready to attach your fabric. www.embroidery.com/product.ec?productsetID=103083&efid=4766

I ordered a set of 16" rods and the EZ Stitch Tape from you today. I will be purchasing the rod tap soon and will update my old rods. I love cross stitching, but never have liked to sew my fabric onto them. Just found your RU-vid page today, and about these rods. My local cross stitch store closed when Walmart came to town, so I've been out of touch with anything new. Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it. @@embroidery.comcrossstitchh3297

Hello thanks for your video My rods do not come with tape. Is the tape available for sale to attach to an older scroll rod so it converts to tape?

Is this Velcro tape?
@embroidery.comcrossstitchh3297
Yea is super sticky so it stays on the rod and the fabric amazingly. Then when the two are put together they are just really good tension together.
