I’m a new subscriber and I’ve gone back and watched alllllll of your videos!! This is my first year I’m growing from seed, totally inspired by you. I love your content, not only is it so informative and helpful but it’s so enjoyable to watch and really cheers me up.
I checked to see if you had posted 20 minutes ago. Then 10 minutes later your here. Looking forward to this all day. Your videos are brill. Don't stop.
These daily vlogs are spoiling us a bit I think! I’d love to know more about using artichokes: what’s the vase life like? How about the greenery? I’ve never grown it before and am intrigued to try something new!
Yes I'd love to know more about it! They look so cool in her bouquets and I have 10 of them starting right now that I intended to just use for eating. The greenery is quite prickly (at least as a seedling) so maybe not as pleasant in a bouquet to be handled but it definitely looks interesting!
I love how honest you are about how you don't plant them off as soon as you should. I'm new to annuals and I know I'm going to have the same problem. Time just goes by so fast haha.
Awesome Sarah. Thanks for answering the questions. I wish U great success this year with your flower farm and business. I'm totally jealous of your shipping container studio. It will look great once it's all up and running. What a gorgeous boy Hector is, I just love his cheekiness!
Thanks for taking the time to answer all of my questions! I found your insta and you're so right, the artichokes add a great texture and draw attention in your bouquets! I can't wait to try it (if I can pass up eating them!)
I usually look at the root system when I’m thinking about what container to plant in. If the plant has a big taproot, they go in a big container, but if it’s fibrous, a soil block works well for me.
I love your channel and look so forward to watching your videos. Thank you for all the valuable information. I’m going to try soil blocking this season.
Thanks for posting! Been looking forward to this all day. The longer the video the better. Love watching you and hearing your voice , your accent is so wonderful. Love to have a tour of the farm, love all the animals. Would love to have a place to get some alpaca poo!! No place around here, been looking but we just moved to this area. We had horses when we were younger, so I have mucked stalls, very hard work but satisfying also!🌸🌸🐖🐖
Thank you so much for answering my question about soil blocking! You said my name correct, it's Karie, sounds just like (carry) there are so many ways to spell my name. I think I lost most of my snaps with the soil blocking. I will wait a week longer. I think I may have baked them on the heat mats. I will be experiencing alot of trial & error! 😊😢
Great video! It's fun to hear the different varieties you're sowing and how many. We're trying soil blocking this year for the first time, so we'll be watching if you do a video on potting yours up!
I'm just starting soil blocking too and I've loved it so far. Potting up was so easy, just plop it in the larger pot, no fussing to free it from a cell and no worrying about tangled up roots. I was worried the blocks would just fall apart when I picked them up but they seem very stable and solid, especially if you let them dry up a little bit before picking them up.
@@inbloom2006 That's fantastic! We're going to start some seeds tomorrow with soil blocks and I know we were worried about the being difficult to pot up. Fingers crossed!
@@GardenHands Good luck to you! One heads up on something I've noticed, if you let them stay in the blocks for a bit and they're pressed against each other, the roots will travel to the neighboring blocks. Not a big deal if you're potting them up quickly, but I'm not always free to work on my plants' schedule. Next time I'll just space them out a bit in the tray instead of pushing them as close together as I could to try to fit more.
Morning Sarah, Thanks for your reply , think I watched this about 2am lol , anyway I’m def going to have a go with the seed blockers , been looking on eBay and Amazon prices range from about £45 for two large and a small one so I’m gonna invest , was wondering if you sell them on your amazon shop, and I’m gonna get some of them little tubs sure I’ve had them from quality save either 5 or 10 for a £1, thanks for your advice , looking forward to see how your studio is coming on ,, Pps sorry if any weird spelling can’t find my glasses at the mo 🤪🌻💐🌻have a great day.
Hi Joanne, yes I did put them in my Amazon shop yesterday, check it out and see if the price is good on there. You’ll have to make sure the seed blocker definitely fits into the bottom of the trays because I’ve bought some before that haven’t quite fit! X
Your content is so good. Thank you for doing this! I started my mini flower farm (Europe, Latvia) only last year and I have no experience. I just read and watch and learn from mistakes :D P.S. Can't find your instagram!
Hi Sarah. Really inspired and nice day forecast tomorrow here in Wales so I will be clearing out the greenhouse and then sowing some seeds and trying out my new soil blocker. So very excited. 😀. Do you have any tips on sowing the seeds that look like dust ?
Hope you had a productive day. I have tried to sow using a tiny paint brush before but now I just pinch them between my thumb and forefinger and watch intensely for one to drop in the cell!!
Place the seeds in the refrigerator for a few weeks and surface sow them. Don't cover the seeds just press them lightly on the soil and cover with a light vermiculite. I tried this last year and it worked great!
I just sowed about 200 snaps... placing 2 per cell 😒 ugh! Everytime I tried to pick one or two up, some would "bounce" out of my hand, & I'm pretty sure a few landed in the tray... & I'm such a perfectionist- if I end up with a random orange in my block of pinks it's going to drive me nuts! 😫
I may be late for day 3's questions but in case I'm not, what do you keep the alpacas for? Do you harvest their wool or are they just to be cute and make great poo?
Beware the Days to Maturity figures... they’re based on planting out, not sowing. Eg, a pumpkin could be 90days to maturity, but sowing it in April isn’t going to give you pumpkins in July... but 90 days from planting out would be pumpkins in sept
@@bloomandgray Ope, just finished it. Sounds like hard work! Good luck with sowing this year and hope things will be mostly back to normal this summer.
@@bloomandgray We had cold weather until really late last year also! I don't remember the day I have it written down somewhere but yeah we had an extremely Cold Spring and we usually don't, We usually get really hot really fast!
