Man that looks like an AMAZING Lightning rod! Just ordered this for mosquitos we are plagued with...LOVE the home made rod you made. My little pension check likes it even more:-) Still riding that 69 Harley? Miss mine since losing my damned legs...Trike time for me I guess? Thanks for the review, Mike
Just got one ,love it ! I noticed the zapping grid on yours is 'cocked' to one side. Mine sits perfectly parallel to the bulb. I'm sure it works fine but thought I'd point that out. Hope it's still zapping for ya.
Mine did arrive "cocked" I decided to leave it that way to prevent my damaging it trying to straighten it out. Since it worked fine I am leaving hands off..
I am going to install some green led lights into the top of the bug zapper and see if that helps attract more mosquitoes to it. I have read that mosquitoes are attracted to green led wavelengths of light. I will look for some high intensity ones.
Definition: Flammable: liable to catch fire; readily combustible; inflammable. flammability, noun. Usage note. Flammable and inflammable are interchangeable when used of the properties of materials.
I never installed the attraction so I can not comment on that. The unit should definitely be hung, in an area AWAY from where you gather so you are not attracting bugs to yourself.
Not one freakin' video that actually shows the way the bug stuff gets put in the zapper, which directions are confusing. Jeez, gotta keep looking for anyone that shows an actual out of the box review.
Man the octenol pack just has a peel off cover which exposes the fresh attractant. It comes with a piece of 2 sided tape. You peel backing off the two sided tape. Stick one on the oppose side of the open holes of the pack and just stick it onto bottom of unit.
2 prong, come on what, flowtron be skimping, i think its 3 prong again, i just had the bk 15 and it was 3 prong.... it was just ordered from the amazon book store. last week...
I had thought that these keep the bugs away not attract to it ?? That's gross. :( Does it work on wasps ?? Does it keep them away ? We have too many around our house. !
I would unplug during storms, the electrics will take a beating zapping rain drops if exposed. Enough water and wet dead bugs could short it out in my opinion.
NO, flies, like house flies. are not attracted to UV light, so they will not be drawn to the unit. IF the flies you are experiencing are strongly drawn to light then it will work. The regular house fly will ignore it.
sixty9harley Yes, I added the Octenol "attractant" that came with the unit and followed the directions exactly. Left on at the proper distance for about a week and no difference in mosquito reduction. Buying a fogger, even though I don't care for the environmental impact of it. I've sprayed with malathion.
Yeah if you stand by it the mosquitos will come to you and not the attractant. I think theyre moderately attracted to the stuff but all the mosquitos in an acre radius dont just swarm to it. If theyre by it they "may" fly into it is what Ive seen so far. I still have a major mosquito problem in the yard. Theyre not attracted to the UV light like everything else. Most of what these things kill are not mosquitos to be honest.
It comes with one packet of mosquito attractant. But I have not used it as I do not have that problem thankfully. I have moths that lay eggs in my garden, and their caterpillars eat my veggies. I do know the attractant is expensive!
