Thank you so much for this video. I was dealing with a noisy, running toilet and this was absolutely perfect. The whole process took me literally 10 minutes and now the toilet is nice and quiet.

I replaced my fill valve with the fluidmaster. The stainless steel supply line is less than 5 years old so I kept it. When I finished and turned the water back on the supply line very slowly weeps water out from where the supply line connects to the nut that connects to the water line coming up from the floor. The supply line worked fine before I replace the fill valve. Is there a problem with my supply line? When I first saw it weep out the water, I thought it wasn't connected tight enough to the water line and cranked it tighter, but it still slowly weeps water. I'm thinking something is wrong with the supply line and replace that.
@AroundTheHome1
@AroundTheHome1 5 лет назад
Yes, replace the supply line. The stainless steel supply lines use a rubber washer. It formed around the base of the old fill valve and was fine until you broke the seal by taking it off. Those indentations will still be in the washer. When you put the supply line onto a different fill valve, it does not line up perfectly with the old one and will leak. Just get a new one and everything should be fine. Thanks for watching. Don't forget to stop by our website www.greatwhiteninja.com

FYI- If you use a shop-vac it take half the time to get the water out I do it all the time it really saves time and no dirty Towels. Great vid though.

Thank you. This is also helpful. Now I can avoid "water rocket"! I found mine doesn't have overflow tube.. water is leaking from tank to the floor now, maybe from flushing lever area... Should I install pipe and then replace fill valve?
@AroundTheHome1
@AroundTheHome1 6 лет назад
Your toilet doesn't have an overflow tube? What country are you in? Here is a video for replacing the flush valve. This is probably where your leak is. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i4PGssJiVcc.html Also here is the link to my web page for plumbing. www.greatwhiteninja.com/plumbing.html I hope that this helps you take care of that toilet.

Thank you advices. I'm in Hong Kong. I think adding overflow pipe is too big job for me... Today, I walked around Hong Kong to find parts. I can find only fill valve. All shops were same. It seems "no overflow pipe" is not so strange in Hong Kong. Shop staffs didn't surprise at my photos. After replacement, it seems water leak stopped!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zNh8TMQ1Qac.html

Oh, so that's what toilets look like in Hong Kong. Interesting to see people using the fluidmaster fill valve there too. And with no overflow tube, if the fill valve sticks, then it will leak out of the first place, which is normally the flush lever. Glad that I could help.

I got Fluidmaster 400UK073 for replacement. I guess this model is for UK market. In Hong Kong, many things are using UK standard. (e.g. AC Power Plug)

Did you know your toilet was built in October 1992? how'd I know? Its stamped into the back of the tank! Real estate agents often use that to determine approximately when a house was built while showing it to prospective buyers!

The part where the flapper got stuck is happening to me. And no, there are no left over parts on it. It is a flaw of the flapper from what I can see. Anyone have a different point of view?

I can't get the water line connector to "snap". As we are getting close to the toilet, the fill valve then starts turning. I have taken the connector off & re-tightened the fill valve several times & it keeps happening !!
@AroundTheHome1
@AroundTheHome1 Год назад
Are you sure that your water lines snaps? There are only special models that do that.
@carries1704
@carries1704 Год назад
@@AroundTheHome1 Yes, I have the exact same connector that you show in the video. I currently have it all connected with no leaking but I'm worried that the line isn't sealed.
@AroundTheHome1
@AroundTheHome1 Год назад
Well, obviously I can't see it in person. So this is all that I can suggest. Since these lines have rubber seals they don't take that much force to seal. So, if it isn't leaking, then it is probably ok. Though, if this is the same exact Fluidmaster Click lock supply line it bothers me that it did not click. The end could be defective. I would keep a close eye on it and check it everyday for leaks. If you decide to keep that line, after the first week of zero leaks you should be good to go.
@carries1704
@carries1704 Год назад
@@AroundTheHome1 Yes, it bothers me also that it didn't click ! I also have 1992 toilet so my setup is almost the same as in the video & I noticed that I have about 1/2" - 1" more thread of the stem showing under the toilet. Is it possible that the nut isn't able to climb high enough to hit the 'click' point ? Thanx for your help !!
@AroundTheHome1
@AroundTheHome1 Год назад
@Carrie S that is a good observation about the thread height. That might be telling us something. Though the clicking is all about the torque put onto the nut while spinning. If you want to you can hit up my website and submit a contact request. After that you would be able to send pics or vids and I would be willing to take a closer look. www.aroundthehome.org/contact.html

@@AroundTheHome1 Well it's ok I guess.I can always rewind.Anyway here's an issue I have which I posted elsewhere.Let me know if you have a solution: I understand that the rubber refill tube carrying the water goes into the overflow tube (white tube in the center of the tank attached to the flush valve).I have a toilet flush tank where, when I set it up as in this demo, the water keeps seeping through into the toilet bowl, wasting water & also takes a long time to refill @t I ended up putting the black refill tube into the clamp outside the overflow tube instead of inside, so the water does not go into the overflow tube but outside the tube. When I do this there is no water seeping into the toilet bowl when the tank refills.I guess this is not the how it supposed to be, but then I loose a lot of water when I put the rubber tube inside the white overflow tube.Can you please tell me if I'm doing anything wrong & why water leaks out while doing it the way you suggested? Thanks a lot.
@Triumphinchrist1
@Triumphinchrist1 4 года назад
@@AroundTheHome1 On second thoughts I put the tube back where it belongs in the Fill @t works great except that after flushing, water seeps in for couple minutes & the refilling takes a couple of minutes too.After that it's all fine.Wondering if this is normal.I just changed the system from the old float system ,except for the fill valve which is 10 years old.I don't think there was a leak previously or maybe I didn't notice.Wanted to send you a pic of the tank but looks like it's not possible here.Let me know your thoughts.Thanks.
@AroundTheHome1
@AroundTheHome1 4 года назад
Ok, I think I understand what you are saying, so I will do my best to answer your questions. If you want to send some pics go to my website, gave the link in the last response, and go to the contact page. Send me a message and when I get it we will be able to send pics back and forth. Anyways, back to the toilet. The little black hose that comes off of the fill valve needs to be attached to the black clamp that came with it. If you are putting it down the overflow tube just by itself then the hose will siphon after the fill valve stops. That little black clamp is an anti-siphon device. I know that it looks just like a mounting clamp, but it really does work and really is needed. Now about your question as to should it go into the overflow tube or outside. Inside is the correct position. It is there to help the bowl fill to the right height. I was actually in an argument with a woman about that a while back. Tried to explain to her that it wasn't wasting water and that the bowl needed a certain amount of water to make a good flush. And that there was a certain amount of water needed to make sure everything not only flushed, but made it all the way out of your pipes to the main sewer under the street in front of your home. She was from California so unfortunately she had been programmed to think using water was wasting water, so all my points were wasted on her. Hopefully it doesn't cause a back up of her plumbing system and cause a whole lot more trouble. So, like her, if you really want to point the hose outside of the overflow tube to fill the tank that works too.
