I just got this as a starter aquarium. Thanks for posting the setup. I’m thinking of starting off with snails and shrimp in the tank since it’s so small.

Hi, would you still recommend this tank for a betta? I'm looking into the best nano tank as a complete beginner.

In my opinion the best aquarium for a betta would be the fluval spec 5 gallons its not much more expensive than the spec 3 and you get quite a bit more room

Hey I'm not a fan of the preset heaters. Would a 25w be overkill?

Yeah, I'm not either. 25w should be fine.

If your tank is in a cold room then you would need a heater for a betta fish.

@@camc5417 the tank volume is way too unstable. I found the evaporation to be very speedy with the light on during the day (didn't test with light off). I was topping up an additional 1 liter (around 10% of water volume) every week with the w/c. The water flow only has 2 adjustable rates and the nozzle isn't that flexible. The intake for the filter is hindered by the secondary intake midway down the back of the tank (the secondary intake I'm guessing to prevent the filter from running dry if the water level drops below the primary intake (due to evap). Filter media is not great. Water gets really filthy, but, u know you can do water changes more often. I only did them once a week. So the space where the pump goes is realllllly tiny, I have tiny hands, yet if I was to try and fiddle with the flow rates on the pump all the way down the bottom of the tank, I'd have to either remove half the water, the heater and try and squeeze my hand all the way down and try and flick the switch using the tips of my fingers. Or remove heater, disconnect the outake tubing and pull the pump out, I'd also have to remove half the water again in order to push the pump all the way back down to the bottom where it lives in it's sad little space and put everything back together again... but then again, I was having problems so I was trying all sorts of things to get the filter running optimally and I had to fiddle a bit and doing that time after time was just fricken annoying. Tbh I think it comes down to how small the tank is. The small volume of water means that the subtle changes that normally occur in aquariums aren't that subtle in such a small tank, and that can be costly to the health of the inhabitants. I think the filter is probably the best fluval could come up with while trying to maintain that sexy aesthetic (which it is, such a sexy little tank) but its not great long term. I have 5 other tanks in my house that I have not had all the problems this one little tank has given me. In the end I shut it down after only 8 months if that. It's now sitting in my garage, and I'm wondering what to do with it ... if I give it another go. Probably not. But all that said, this is just my experience and my opinions of the hardware. I'm not an expert by all means, and I have read such great reviews by experts, and that's why I went and bought it, also not cheap! If I had to do it over again, I would not buy less than 20L to house a betta or even shrimp. I would even dare to say "don't put anything in a 10L at all." TLDR : get something bigger than 10L

Great idea but surely to small for most fish , even a fish that can get oxygen from the air in my view needs something bigger than that, I know they are kept in smaller but that doesn’t make it right ...But that’s only my opinion ..But thanks for showing us, but I think the bigger version would be more humane.
