Can you describe how the tactile frame felt keyfeel-wise? Perhaps you could also compare and contrast versus some mechanical contemporaries? Thanks in advance.
@@duncandi8131 hard to remember since it's been quite a few months since i tried it felt like it was almost friction that made it tactile? i can't really describe it in words purely based off memory haha. but it definitely was a satisfying tactility to say the least.
I really want to see you guys send a prototype to a reviewer! My main concerns are how well your design deals with off-center keypresses, and how practical the software implementation will be. Obviously kickstarter comes with its own challenges, and I hope you’re able to be successful.
@@nivian5535 I think he's more concerned about if the keys can get stuck, come off/out a little or worse, break over time. i could be wrong though. those are also some concerns I have but I backed them cause I WANT. and if something like that happens, they could make improvements to the frame and such then send a revised version out.
@@nivian5535 Binding on off-center keypresses has more to do with the mechanical design and tolerances than just complexity alone. Having magnets doesn’t preclude it as a potential issue. It’s an issue that plagues both vintage (see: space invader switches) and some modern keyboards alike. When you have multiple flat surfaces sliding over one-another with tight tolerances and no rail/slider to guide them, a keypress on an edge of the key might cause two or more sides of the key to come into contact with the housing in a manner that temporarily jams it.
I'm actually pretty worried about stabilization on the keys, especially all the bigge keys that usually have stabilizers. Since it's all magnetically levetated I'd be very worried about it being very wobbly if that makes sense on the return action / very inconsistend on the press down when pressed off center.
Its biggest thing that could be implemented is the ability to switch between that language and emoji keyboards. That was something unique to touchscreen keyboards but now it can actually be mapped to a physical keyboard with the actual character displayed on the key! Love that it has functional uses as well along with aesthetics
I've been thinking about the product like this for so many years. I'm glad to see someone brought it to life. Couple of the best use cases I can think of: - Different keyboard layouts and languages will show different letters on each key - Emoji selector, where each key is one emoji And the most important one for me: - Dynamic shortcuts display, meaning if you hold Ctrl/Alt/Shift (or any combination between them), keyboard will display available shortcuts for each key (e.g. if you hold Ctrl, the X key would turn into "Cut"), and it would be ideal if it worked on per-app basis.
It might not be a mechanical keyboard, but I’m definitely intrigued & interested to learn more. I can see all the uses for it already & I really appreciate the creativity that went into the design of this keyboard.
@@yutsuneko No…As much as I like this, a keyboard that’s based on a computer screen and has no mechanical switches is not a mechanical keyboard. This is in its own distinct category of keyboards, and is something entirely new and unique in the industry.
@@jovanleon7 Those are not mechanical keys. It’s closer to a membrane keyboard than a mechanical keyboard with how they actuate. But I do appreciate how the designer came up with a creative method to simulate both a linear and tactile feel to a digital screen keyboard.
Hall Effect switches (which I presume they are using here as there are no physical contacts and only magnets) have been used in mechanical keyboard applications by Honeywell since *at least* 1968. I would still consider the keyboard mechanical as it uses this technology and involves moving/sliding parts. The IBM Model F for instance doesn’t have physical contacts either. It uses capacitive sensors under each key which interact with a flapper that is mechanically pushed into position with each keypress. It doesn’t complete a circuit, it changes the capacitance of the sensing circuit without physically closing a switch.
I'm so hyped about this product. I really hope there'll be an "appstore" for layout configs that allows us to share with each other (assuming the keys layout is configurable)

I have a maglev keyboard currently and I love it. The Wooting 60he. I can't wait to see how the software works, I hope it runs flawlessly. If you can get it to be silent I think you guys will make a fortune.
My gosh, this is incredible! I really really hope in future they create an numpad extension. That is literally the only thing stopping me from purchasing this keyboard!
It looks absolutely stunning ! This going to be a game changer if the typing experience is as good as traditional keyboards. I have been wanting a keyboard like this for decades and I remember when the optimus maximus came out 16 years ago and was like £2500 so people complained about the quality of the switches and lack of good software support. So that product of course died due to the quality to price ratio. It looks like you have solved those problems AND made improvements to the design and aesthetic. I am looking forward to some real world independent reviews and hope to get my hands on this one day. Also very glad you managed to get the price closer to 500 dollars as it will mean more people will be able to afford it.
I want to see how this does against a durability test before supporting the Kickstarter. These type of things usually are my fear when it comes to kickstarting tech devices.

I'm really loving this keyboard and am holding out for its release before I buy myself a new one. I just hope the number pad comes out soon as I really need a number pad. An add-on for extra keys across the top would be nice as well as I've got like 6 extra keys on my current keyboard mapped to macros that I have become too accustomed to and I would be lost without them now.

I wonder how hot the display gets and also with this smart keyboard the creators will have a huge space of creativity with this keyboard through software improvements. i just hope their ambious doesn't delay the release of the product,
This is the sort of product that will have challenges in supplying the 8Billion people in the internet. Everyone literally wants this keyboard, like how everybody wants flying cars.
This is super cool though I wonder what the input delay is. Maybe there is mention of the latency of keystrokes somewhere in the video but I missed it lol

As a split keyboard user, I would love this a bit wider with room for modules between the left and right halves of the keyboard. The technology is amazing, but I can't leave using a split keyboard for ergonomics.

I already bought one and I already want a second one (along with the planned numpad you said you hope to make in the future to go along with this keyboard). I've always sought out unique keyboards and mice and this one has really caught my attention and may finally replace my Everest Max Keyboard (which I still really love and will probably give to my brother). Still haven't found a mouse to replace my Swiftpoint Z yet but if you guys ever do a mouse as well then I look forward to that too.
Definitely not a scam but, they dont seem to have their own display sizes. I'd love to see a full size version, but i dont think they can get a screen with that much width. The keyboard is also just too tall but again i think its cause they just slapped whatever screen they could get on it and designed around it.
