FLY FISHING CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER FOR TROUT!
While in North Georgia last weekend I took a little detour from filming the new North Georgia Trout Series to fish a small stream. This particular stream I had never been to before. I was impressed with the crazy clear water and how beautiful the brown trout were. They were tough too find but that made finding them all the more rewarding.
At the end of the video I was back in West Virginia as I tried to finish it off with a few native brook trout. I was Surprised to Catch a non native imposter brook trout in one of the bigger holes on the creek. I was still able to catch one native before it got dark.
I hope everyone enjoys this multi state adventure! Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more videos!

Your cinematography has gotten so good in the last year, I love how you don’t just show catching fish, and show off your surroundings and the water your fishing. Great job!

You won't hear me complain either. The water, the sound of the water, trees and there is Mr. Trout. Perfect.

I’m back in the Mountains of Virginia, where I grew up trout fishing. However, I got my start flyfishing in North Georgia. The state offers some incredibly beautiful streams and a ton of National Forest Land. I spent many a days hiking in to find native brookies, they are there, just a little work involved in getting to them.

Part of the new Georgia series will be blue lining for little native brookies!! I'm excited to do some exploring. Thanks for watching

Where would you suggest I start looking for native brookies for a guy that just moved from Virginia to North GA?
@mikediamond9206
@mikediamond9206 2 года назад
Get you a Nat Geo Chattahoochee National Forest Map. Start chasing the small blue lines, half the fun is exploring. Brookies are generally protected by a natural barrier, ie waterfalls. You will be doing some hiking, they generally are are not near any roads. Tight fishing, but enjoyable. I also would suggest crossing the border into NC, the Nantahala NF offers some excellent remote fishing.

It is such pretty creek. I think it looks the most like Georgia out of all the creeks I've fished just because it sits in a pine grove with very little laurel. Thanks for watching!

Yep all of these trips almost anyone can do if you have the time. My only real expenses for a Georgia trip is the gas and whatever food I eat. But I sleep in my car and fish streams I find on google earth or through a bit of research. Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot

Grew up fishing that first stream. Nothing like it was 30-40 years ago. Too many locals fishing with bait(it is an artificial only stream) and keeping limits over the years have really hurt it. It's starting to recover a little but will probably never be as good as it once was. Still lots of good memories fishing it and catching those small browns.

There's not a doubt you are a dedicated trout fisherman and the video was excellent. I will be there in the morning but I will fish the evening and then hit Cherokee and lose my money, wake up Sunday and hopefully I can make the morning bite. I've only fished Cherokee once and I was shut out, have you ever had any luck with fishing Cherokee and I will be glad to listen to all the info if so.

Love the small stream and wild fishing content. You should try a tenkara video on a small streams. It is not for everyone but is a great experience especially for top water or tight line nymphing. Hit me up if your in WNC as I have rods you are welcome to try.

Its amazing how water flows. I know of stream in the smokies that merges into another stream, the two bodies of water are totally different, it's like two different worlds. One stream has a very high population of fish, the other does not. Winter fishing is tough, I would use nymphs, they always work for me. Enjoyed the video. 😀🥶👍

Black on purple wooly buggers are completely deadly. I tye all purple wooly buggers some without a bead, but with a small piece of foam so it kinda floats but is within 1-2 feet of the surface.

What's the difference between a wild trout & a native trout?
@hardmanfishing
@hardmanfishing 2 года назад
Wild trout reproduce in the stream but were put there by humans at one point. Native trout were there before people. So the only native "trout" to the east coast is the brook trout. All of the other trout are either wild trout or are stocked. At the end of the day a "wild" trout and a "native trout" are technically both just trout that reproduce and live in the stream without help, but we give native trout a little more protection/respect because they've been in the creeks since the last ice age.

Generally the etiquette is to not tell spots, especially in small streams and with thousands of followers, the locals wouldn't appreciate it if hundreds of people went there:)

It would have been nice for you, yet, unethical for everyone else. If he were to say the state and river name, I’m sure there’d be at least a few dozen people out of his almost 40k followers who would then know about it and fish it. Social media has a huge impact on fisheries!

@@badhooksetguy1999 I feel like that and some lack of tree management is what has basically ruined Noontoola. Now you can't go there without a mile of parked cars at the crossroads and every little hole camped in every weekend with spinning gear 😑
