Every stream that harbors wild brook trout is a treasure. But even among the treasure chest of wild trout streams across Connecticut, some jewels shine brighter than the rest. In this episode, I fly fish one of the most productive wild brookie streams I've ever had the pleasure of angling... a ribbon of waterfalls and cascades meandering through a mountain forest and hiding untold throngs of hungry, stream-born brookies.

Fabulous video! The limestone bedrock keeps the water ph level neutral & promotes a healthy ecosystem.

17:17 - The epitome of a New England Brook Trout. Just beautiful. Have a few under my belt similar and they all have come on some sort of streamer. Big fish eat little fish. Nice job!

Piscivores, for sure! And it’s funny because you can get so used to smaller brookies on most of these wild streams that you scarcely expect it when their giant grandad shows up with the attitude of a wrecking ball.

Another awesome video! I was a Farmington River snob for years but your videos encouraged me to find my own little secret streams and chase wild trout this past year. It’s been very rewarding, I’ve never realized how much wild trout water there is in this state. Keep it up!

Vermont and adjacent NYS have streams that cut through marble. We call them bright water streams and they produce paler silvery trout. Wild strains. This stream that you're on is a beauty.

Born and brought up in Massachusetts. I've had some great times fishing our natives over the past almost 60 seasons. I literally got goose bumps watching this episode. Keep em coming. Love your work. Frank.

I haven't spent much time fishing Mass, but I held a license for the state in 2021 that didn't really get much use. Gonna get one again for next year and make sure I get out there more!

That was a great video. I didn't go wild trout fishing this year, stuck mostly to bass and pike and stockies. This video makes me wish I went. Looks straight out of the white mountains. Great work.

I was there a few weeks ago but didn't get to explore as far up as you did. Can't wait to get back but you're right, it's a bit of a haul to get there! As always, great stuff. Love tuning in to your adventures, keep it up!!

If we're definitely on the same page, you'll be entertained to know that I went back to fish it once more this year and my truck's starter randomly died in the parking of a gas station maybe 5 miles away before I made it there. Had to get towed ALL the way back home💸; never even got to wet a line.

@@ConnecticutAngler Ugh, that stinks. I'd like to get back up there sometime this month but the drive may keep me closer to home until the spring. There are many others closer but none have the abundance or gin clear water that Z has.

Another amazing video! Mouth was really dark on that bruiser brookie, gorgeous fish! Can’t wait for more videos, and hopefully you’re able to fish Macedonia brook class A in late spring 2022 when it is picturesque and gorgeous for the time of year!

Yeah that brookie was seriously dark. It was actually so dark in the footage that I had to brighten the clip up! And Macedonia's wild stretches are definitely on my radar.

Hey a little tip limestone streams or rivers produce high quality fish due to minerals in the rock

I’ve been hitting a lot of brookie streams lately too in mass but damn man! You’re really killing it down here, I need to go out to the hills in the western part of the state, really explore, and stay local lol.

Great stuff man! You get any time to fish the salmon this year? I only had one chance to hit Riverbend Park and I had a beautiful fish swim right next to me while I was swapping streamers.

Two things held me back from spending as much time gunning for Atlantics as I have the past two years. Not long after the first round of Atlantic stocking, I got sidelined for a good three weeks while getting major repairs on my truck. That screwed up LOTS of plans. In addition, I also gave up some days that I would've spent on the Naugatuck to instead target Pacific salmon in the form of Connecticut's kokanee. So Atlantics just didn't get nearly as much attention. That said, I did get out there a couple times and saw a handful of fish; no luck coaxing a bite, though.
