The boys and myself was introduced to this place by Justin. He has fished here since a boy. We love the place. A bit of a trek to get there, but as you can see well worth it. We really do enjoy this fishing compared to the still waters. If I lived nearer I think things for me would be so different. Another one which we did and was amazing. The Black Finned Trout. This was a red letter day, and may never see the likes again. The Black Finn is rare. So it was a challenge. Besides that we were not 100% sure weather there were Black Finn in this water. We did a lot of research. Won't tell any more just incase you decide to watch it. Thanks for watching and especially the comment. It all helps the channel and I love to hear from you all. Take care John. Shaun.

Great video Shaun. Teifi pools holds a special place in my heart. Fished once and blanked, my brother next to pulling them in no problem lol. Never hear the end of it. Heading back this coming weekend for a much over due trip. Do you have any recommendations on flies? Tied up a lot of Leech’s and hoopers so far. Welcome your reply

The one person who really knows this water better than anybody. its Justin Allen. And Justin will always recommend Claret Bumble on the dropper and silver Invictor on the point. Both size 14. There are always going to be other patterns on the day. We were on this water today for a few hours. Concentrating on Llyn Teifi. Four of us fishing and a fish a piece. I had mine on a dry, which looks more like a muddler. Steve had his on a Black and green lure. Sam on a Claret Bumble, and Justin the same. Justin covered this water last week and had 14. Most of the fish came from the bay on the road side of the Llyn. Today the best was to cross over to other side via the dam. Go past the posts that are in the water. And head for the first point. This area puts you into deeper water. And as most of the time the fish can be found close in. Always fish the hang. And if you can get your dropper to skate on the surface. This can be lethal. Cover as much water as you can until you find some fish. Always cover the margins ahead of your self. Good luck Arran. Have a great day. Shaun.

Thanks so much Simon. To be honest I was not going to bother with it. On the day I had left all my batteries in my van. We completed the final journey in Justin's car. Justin encouraged me to get what I could. It was very difficult, as I knew there was only about half an hour of battery life. This is why I missed the take at the end. We are back up there 2 mos. However the weather is not looking good. But it is our last chance. And I will be making sure the cameras are there. Mind we could be stuck with just the gopro due to conditions. I really do enjoy being in these places, and I don't do enough. Mind conditions play a big part in this. Thanks for the watch and the comment. Shaun.

Cracking mate. What a day it was today. Would have been a bit nicer with a little less rain. Just telling Max about falling down that bloody hole. Hope we get better fishing conditions for next year. As our window seems to be getting shorter each year. OK back to still waters. My telephone is in your car.

Wow….what a fantastic film Shaun and what a stunning fish. I’d like to thank you again for a wonderful day at Hayscastle last weekend. Alan and I hung on till the bitter end but the wind seemed to put the fish down late in the day. I was happy with seven cracking trout and meeting up with you and Justin was a bonus. I loved chatting to you both and I learned a lot in a short time …..that’s what I get most out of flyfishing….always learning! Keep up the great work and I hope to be back at Hayscastle very soon! Thanks again.

As you know there is nothing consistent about fishing, and some times we have to work hard to find out what works. We are so happy you enjoyed your day. And like wise great meeting you both. I have not been on the water there for a while as we have been busy doing the wild lakes. But it has picked up and fishing has been really good. One chap which averages 0 to 1 netted 6 fish and lost as many last Thursday. The water has completely changed and is now looking top notch. Severn fish on this water is a great achievement. Certainly for that day. Try to be more mobile and you will get the rewards. Sort the net out to enable you to do this. I will be looking forward to our next meeting. Thanks for the comment. Take care mate. Shaun.

Hi Mike, hope your keeping well and having some good days on the water. Hayscastle has been fishing its tits off over the last few days. And have spotted a good few of the whopper's moving. One chap Kim who averages 0 and some times 1, banked 6 and lost as many on Thursday. This video was a bit different and a challenge. On the day I had forgotten my batteries, so ended up with very little footage. Hence not getting the take with the fish at end. We did have a few more. These were the smaller fish. But it really was a great day regardless. Back up there 2 mos with a few of the boys. Weather is looking shit. So looks like gopro only. much prefer my other cameras, But they don't like rain. Thanks for every thing Mike. Shaun.

Thanks Mark. A little bit different to the norm. This was down to me not having enough footage on the day. I had forgotten the spare batteries. We have actually covered this water a few times now since. Last day today. Rained all day and high winds. We were soaked. But it was great. Put a shovel in my hand, I would have gone home. Put a rod in my hand, I would stand there all day. Thanks for the comment Mark. Shaun.

What a lovely video, I know I have said it before but your narrating is second to none. It reminds me of watching Paul Young fishing on the Discovery Channel many years ago... with a slightly different accent :) That fish was a cracker, well done on the PB Shaun. Thanks for sharing, it will be a long old closed season before we can get back up there. All the best mate, catch up soon Ryan
@shaunfishes101
@shaunfishes101 10 месяцев назад
Honestly Ryan this was really hard work. It kicked off on the day we fished. I had forgotten my batteries, and only had the one in the gopro. Half an hour. You can imagine trying to judge when to have it on or not. We did have a few more fish on the day. The small ones. Anyway when going through the footage I knew this video was going to be about 3/4 mins long. I like the longer version. So I spent forever going through history finding stuff which could work. What a difference a load of footage can be. But some good does come from this. Next time. Don't bother. I have had issues with you tube lately which does not help. I have had these problems before, like three times. The first problem with them a while back they stripped over a thousand views from a video. The whole first day of views. They said that the view duration did not tally with my norm. They had not accounted for the video was only half the average duration. But they stripped them any way. Sorry I was on one then. But they do my head in, and I believe they manipulate the system. Hey, thanks for the kind comment. Bye the way, not sure if I have said. Like I can not be bothered to read through all this crap. We are back up there 2 mos. Shitty weather an all. Take care mate. Shaun.

@@shaunfishes101 haha that’s no problem, I can understand your frustration, making these videos takes so much time and preparation, I don’t think RU-vid really supports smaller channels that are not making them millions in ad fees ! Mate, considering you didn’t have much footage that was quality, I think the maps at the start was a clever idea. I don’t let YT get you down and keep paying these videos, you a massive following all of which appreciate your content 👍

Thanks Stuart, I was having a bash, as I had only one battery and gopro with me. Left every thing by mistake at Justin's. So I was trying to save as much battery as poss. Did miss out on a few smaller fish on camera, but got a bit of the important one. I found putting this together very challenging, with so little footage. So I am more than happy you enjoyed it. Thanks mate. Shaun.

Mate - you should get your own series on the BBC if you make videos like this! Great video, bud. More informative than Mortimer & Whitehouse! Should be at Hayscastle next Sunday Oct 8th if you're around. Cheers, Max

Don't think BBC could put up with me. Yes I will defo be there then. The water has been fishing really good lately. Have not checked with Roz over the last few days. Been busy covering the wild llyn's, or lakes to you. This fishing is a lot harder, but far more rewarding. It was our last day today. Dia, Steve, Justin and myself was on it today. Justin had 5 the rest of us had one apiece. Rain and high wind all day. We were soaked. But would do it again 2mos. Oh I fell down a big hole. Justin stood laughing, Dai and Steve could not find me, until my head popped from the ground. All soft stuff. Just soaking wet peat. See you on the 8th. Thanks Max. Shaun.

@shaunfishes101 10 месяцев назад
Hi John, Thanks mate. Oh god yes natural. One of Justin's flies. Claret Bumble on the dropper. He gets a lot on this pattern. We are back up there 2 mos with a few more of the boys. Last chance for us. Really looking forward to it, even though it is going to rain nearly all day. Was a bit unsure weather to bother with cameras. This video is not doing very well. It could be me mind, not putting the correct words in the title. could have put, Monster Brown bit my finger off. Lucky me the boys had super glue. But really I think they want more stock fish. But at the same time there are people like your self I should be thinking of. Until the next video John. Take care mate, and thanks. Shaun.

I love the wilds, and can't understand any body that does not. I think for a lot of them there's not enough fish coming to the net, and they ain't double figures. And at the same time perhaps its a good thing. For all those unspoilt places we fish may not be the same. When I was younger a good few of my mates would travel across from Fishgaurd. which is not far from me. But they went to fish and surf. I never had the money to go. But they would tell me how great the place is. I have always looked at Ireland as a mecca for fly fishing or just fishing. You are so lucky. Mind due to my age I have had some great fishing. Sea Trout [sewin] and Salmon as well as native Trout. The rivers hear are done for now. This is why I spend more time on still waters today. Thanks for your comment Martin. Take care mate. Shaun.

@@shaunfishes101What planet are you on?? South Wales rivers are not ' done '.....if anything they have got better for wild trout.....some huge wild trout come out of Welsh rivers. Teifi is very good for trout, then Taff, Usk etc as good as any trout fishing you will get anywhere in UK and as good as Irish rivers
@PaulDavies-od4ou
@PaulDavies-od4ou 9 месяцев назад
Silly not to get your hands by it as we had no idea how big it was.........I think this not touch the fish, keep it in the wster thing is over the top.
@shaunfishes101
@shaunfishes101 9 месяцев назад
Hi Paul not sure if you are referring to every body, when you say we had no idea how big. I can assure you for most who follow the channel will back me on the way I treat the fish at the net. Plus the size of the fish is not the point. I am more than happy with promoting keeping fish in net and water. Unlike some which will parade the fish for a photo shoot, and spending ages as they try to get the correct angle. Or does the fish look big enough and how do I look. You made a second comment about Welsh rivers. Referring I have said no Brown Trout in them. I have not a clue where you got that from. But I can assure you, I know the rivers of Wales very well. And have spent over 45 years fishing most. Thanks for the comment. Enjoy your fishing. Shaun.
@PaulDavies-od4ou
@PaulDavies-od4ou 9 месяцев назад
@@shaunfishes101 Wrong. You picked up smaller fish, why not bigger fish? We have no way of telling how big it is.....regards rivers, you clearly say that you no longer fish them and fish Stillwater's, as they are supposedly not good enough anymore. This is clear for everyone to see.......I suggest you have a look on social media and the many pics of big wild trout caught in South Wales rivers!!
@shaunfishes101
@shaunfishes101 9 месяцев назад
@@PaulDavies-od4ouHi Paul sorry for the delay. been so busy. Yes you are correct I will handle small fish. They are easier to handle. And if one flips they won't cause so much damage. End of. I really do not understand your persistence on the fish size. If you really need to know the Brown was about a pound and a half or just over. And again true I have not fished a river for about 6 years. As to why has nothing to do with not being good enough. Yes they have been hammered and neglected. And why I do not fish them is of no concern of yours. And yes I do know these rivers hold some large Brown Trout. And most of all I am glad they have pictures on social media for you to look at.
@PaulDavies-od4ou
@PaulDavies-od4ou 9 месяцев назад
@@shaunfishes101 Are you having a joke? You are the one who's made a video with the emphasis that you've got a ' big ' wild Llyn trout at last. With that, we should know how big it is. As for it being none of your business why you don't fish rivers......then stop coming out with such bullshit reasons that you think they are not good anymore. If anything, in terms of trout size, the South Wales rivers are probably the best they have ever been and to state they are not worth fishing is stupidity.
