good job, were you using an intermediate line ? I fished the Corrib for the first mid may unfortunately the wind blew hard and kinda spoiled it although we did manage to catch a few small trout on the mayfly :)

Intermediate line Martin yes. Corrib fishes best on a big wind and rolling wave. Plenty of big boys about to catch

Are my eyes deceiving me or was the house you left the old ‘Oakland House’ on the Dooras Peninsular? I stayed there for five visits in the late 90’s when Mrs O’Sullivan ran her B&B 👍 Great fishing thanks.

What are the most effective flies patterns on that Lough....?
@TheScientificAngler
@TheScientificAngler Год назад
really depends on the time of year Paul. early season cant go wrong with olive type patterns, many out there. may time its always good to have a mayfly pattern on. late season you'll have you're best luck fishing sedge patterns like the Green Peter. Also worth mentioning if you see Crane flies (Daddy Long Legs), it'll be worth putting on a silver daddy. All flies mentioned above are wet flies, not including dries, buzzers or nymphs. Same rules apply for those, match the hatch. Another worth mentioning is the Golden Octopus, and also most dabbler patterns (particularly the fiery brown dabbler works in corrib). Thanks for watching.
