Yes, that’s correct. At times fishing deeper and bigger runs we will have a very long section of tippet from our top fly to the bottom fly. The hopper essential acts as an edible indicator.
It can make it a little hard to cast… I would recommend slowing down your casting speed to open up the loop when you cast. This will help your bottom fly not get tangled with your top fly.
Out here at Mother in laws place in Thompson Falls MT. Fishing the Thompson River. There are some very deep pools. Let's say the pool is 6-8 feet minimum. How long of a tippet would you put on the Nymph? Back in NY, where we float fish, we usually add 2-3 feet to the depth of the water. Is this the same concept. I caught a few on a hopper dropper yesterday, but I don't think I was deep enough. Thanks in advance!
