I switched over to this pack a year or so ago and it is almost the Holy Grail of fishing packs. I've worn many different types of vest and chest packs through the years and this pack is super slick! I carry some of the same tools you do (release tool, tippet holder, floatant/gel) and have struggled with positioning them optimally. It's a work-in-progress, or so it feels. I do agree that having things "out front" is not ideal as fly line, leader, etc., seem to get caught in it. Conversely, having things hanging off the sides can be challenging as well, particularly when it comes to rod and line management. Those are just small details though that will work themselves out over time.

Thanks for the video. I'm new to trout fishing/ fly fishing and I like your set up alot, but I was wondering instead of the magnet on the side of the net which is a cool idea if you were to run that zip line from the top through the net keeper and if that would holster your net for you and not have to worry about the magnet

Good afternoon, I fish this pack a lot and I have changed the way I connect my net a few times over the year. You can certainly run the net without a magnet and connect it like you mention, I have tried it and do run it like that from time to time. The only thing is that the net tends to swing around some, and I like the handle to be in the same place all the time.

That looks like the C&F Design CFA-55/CB Chest Fly Box. Several of us run similar boxes on our chest packs, and love the ability to pop it on and off when needed.

What is the velcro fly box you’re running on top of your pack?

That is a C&F small flip page box - I wish I could provide a link but C&F recently made the change to a new model of distribution, so the availability of their products is basically kaput... As an alternative, I would try out some of the newer age small and light boxes, all you really need is the right dimensions to fit on your pack and not too much weight so as not to stress the velcro that holds it in place!

How did you attach the magnets?

There is a metal piece that goes on the interior of the pack and secures the magnet on the exterior through the fabric. It also has a provided carabiner clip if you'd prefer to hang it from something.

@@AvidMax I came across the Magnet-ique range a couple of years ago as I was looking to make something similar. They are a must have for anyone fishing barbless and is sick of loosing flies. Hooks stay attached and Tungsten beads stick well also! Hi from Melbourne Australia

Packs are a very personal item. What works well may not work for others. Therefore is hard to say definitively what pack would be better. Both companies have very purposeful designs for their chest packs.

@@AvidMax ended up making the switch from the CC to this pack. Very happy with my choice. If the ZS had a magnetic closure it would be the holy grail of chest packs. But the zippers on the ZS are great quality which makes it easy to open/close with one had if needed.
