Welcome to the MO! We had a great time catching big fish on a big river. Caught mostly rainbows with a few brown trout thrown in.

Way to go!! Made me homesick for the Mo', I fished it many times from 1985-95 before it was ever really popular, tremendous fishing. Glad you got into them, measure them boys by the pounds. Great job!

I really like that spot at Bull Pasture. Great spot to park. Great fishing all around that island and the bank fishes well all the way to the dam.

I was the resident engineer on the wastewater treatment plant construction project when you guys were there. Lived in a camper for 8 months. Got very familiar with the river. Great spot.

That would have been an awesome place to work for 8 months! I bet you could get to know that place very well! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!

Fished that very spot from 1967 to 71. Those days you saw very few fly fishing going on.

Just returned from fishing the Mo in October with a group from Gig Harbor Fly Shop and got lucky with 3 days of huge hatches - the dry fly anglers were in heaven. I am a spey caster and caught too many to count on streamers and soft hackles with lightweight trout spey. Will be going to Rock Creek, Big Horn, and Madison next... Keep up the great video work.

+Pat Shozo wow sounds like one spectacular trip! We fished each of those places (except the big horn) when we went out this summer and had the time of our lives! Heard the Big Horn was just as good as the Mo. If you get a chance, reply back and let us know how you do there! I really would love to check it out! Thanks for watching and commenting!

+Hardway Outdoors thanks Dan! We actually were saying that we think that clip of the sheep was one of the coolest clips we got from the entire trip. Just really, really neat!

Awesome !!! I was hoping to see some Trico fishing, but those Bo - Mo - Bows were overwhelming !!! Your dad is clearly a Central PA flyfisherman. Shorty Orvis Supr-Tackl-Pak. GLoomis GLX. Classic Hardy (I slightly prefer CFO's), Richardson Chest. Net down the middle of the back. A thorough and totally prepared fly fisherman.

+Piedscooter1 we were pretty disappointed with the dry fly fishing. Never really saw much surface activity other than that fish we got video of. Still a blast regardless! We showed our dad your comment and he got a little chuckle out of it haha people out there were saying his Richardson gave away where he was from. Thanks so much for watching!

Amazing video fishing! What kinds of nymphs were working for you out there? I live in VA, fish up in State College area a lot, but am making my first trip up to MT this summer. I couldn't be more excited, but am trying to get all the pointers I can. Thanks!
@BackyardBassin

You won't be disappointed with Montana, I promise! Believe it or not, many of the same flies we use in central PA worked on the Missouri and other rivers in Montana. Pheasant tails, hares ears, elk wing caddis. The nymphs in size 16 and 18 worked best. A size 14 caddis seemed to be the ticket on top. Best of luck to you! Hopefully this helps

Love bull pasture. One of my favorite spots on the Mo. what camera did you use for filming? Doesn’t have the fish eye effect I see on so many go pro vids.
@BackyardBassin
@BackyardBassin 6 лет назад
+Dan Holland we loved it too! This was our first time fishing there. We filmed this with a Sony A6000 mirrorless camera. The two lenses we used were the 18-55mm kit lens and the sony e mount 50-200mm lens. Thanks for watching!

Nice vids guys. The fish who was landed at 3:26, was caught by your brother, I guess. What kind of rod was that? Keep on fishing and tight lines.

+dutchflyfisher his rod is a GLoomis GLX Streamdance 9' 5wt. Gorgeous rod! Thank you for watching!

U guys get a guided trip or did u guys just find places yourself to fish
@BackyardBassin
@BackyardBassin 6 лет назад
+Bill Maguire we knew we wanted to fish the Mo but didn't really know any specific locations so we did a lot of research online. Once we had a basic idea we talked to some fly shops who were able to give us some advice. So we did it ourselves but with some helpf from the internet and local fly shops.

You guys are holding the fish out of the water way to long!!!! Im no tree hugger but you guys instantly have your net high up with the fish... instead of holding it up in mid range . Hold the fish 2 feet off the water and count to 7 and put it in the water for a little and raise it again no more than 10 seconds and release... Im not trying to be a tree hugger or a asshole ahhaha I just thought it might help...

Try practicing proper trout handling techniques........wet your hands before you handle the fish!
@BackyardBassin
@BackyardBassin 4 года назад
He was catching so many fish that his hands never had time to dry. We always wet our hands. Thanks for your concern and thanks for watching! Please check out some of our other videos!
