Fly Fishing with Hopper-Droppers and Dry Flies on Rock Creek in September | Fly Fishing Waters 

It's early September, and wildfire smoke fills the air and dims the sunlight. The air temperature is above 90 degrees. We step into the river, which is cool and inviting. We each tie on a hopper-dropper rig which consists of a grasshopper pattern and the first fly and then a second, or dropper fly, tied on about 12-18 inches beyond the first fly.
