I agree with your analysis on the changes in their sound. Chase Me and Good Night were both done at or around the same time as they were released just 3 months apart and they were done to tell a singular story. Also, since this was their debut, and they were changing from Minx they wanted to make sure that there was a clear delineation in their sound. They wanted to make sure that Dreamcatcher had its own identity. Then with Fly High, since it's a prequel, they chose to mix in some of the Minx brightness with the Dreamcatcher darkness. As the song progresses the darker and heavier elements become more pronounced and the tone shits from something lighthearted to something dark and sinister as the Nightmare Curse takes hold of all the girls. This mixture of sounds became the basis for all their songs going forward but they just continue to tweak and elevate with each comeback.
The change in color of their school uniforms from red/white to dark blue indicates the point at which they lost their souls and became spirits of nightmare. Yoohyeon burning the spider with a magnifying glass was the trigger that angered the nature deity (Spider Woman, Spider Queen whatever) looking after all spiders. She cursed the girls. They were all already in a coven based on THE book Dami found in the library, so the curse caught all of them and not just Yoohyeon, although she is the focal point through the entire story.
Good Night is one of their heavier releases, and I love it. The K-Rock girl group Rolling Quartz also did an excellent cover of it. The Nightmare hunter casts spells to trap the members, but they get the book from him and turn it against him, trapping him behind the mirror. The next song in the Nightmare arc, "Fly High", is from the album "Prequel", which is a strong hint to consider. 😉 That is also a very interesting song. "Fly High" is probably the poppiest of the Nightmare arc. It was not done by their usual production team as well. But it makes sense, since this is a prequel, so bringing in a bit of the Minx sound makes sense to me. There are really heavy parts in it as well, which clearly state that they are not Minx anymore. And I love the dark parts thrown in, they really make the song special. The light part sung by SuA after the metal break is in major, while the rest of the song is in minor. That is why it stands out so much. They did the same in Good Night, but a lot shorter. About the MV: You can see Yoohyeon burning the spider, which brought the curse of the spider queen down on the members. You will see the spider queen again in You and I. In Native American mythology, spiders are considered protectors, that is why a Dreamcatcher resembles a spider's net. That is a brilliant connection to their name! 😊
Rapping - actually, SuA (like Sue-Ah)is the primary 😮rapper for Good Night! She is still technically a lead rapper but she raps pretty rarely, she wanted to focus on vocals... She rapped more regularly in Minx (not too sure about in your dialect, but in mine it rhymes with "winks") And she's also the main dancer. Dami (pronounced with an "ah" sound, not like the a in 'an', so like "dah-mee" as an approximation) is the main rapper, and sometimes Gahyeon (Gah-Hyeon) raps too, she joined the rap line in 2019/2020. You'll very rarely see the others rap for a special clip or live performance but it doesn't happen much. Yes, Fly High is a prequel - it's from the mini album titled "Prequel" and everything. Also, id definitely check out three or four of the B-sides the other comment mentioned. If you like them, consider checking out their full discography because it's very strong. My name pronunciations are not exact, they wouldn't sound completely correct to a Korean, but they're pretty close in my dialect at least. The others are: Han-Dong (Hahn, Dong similar to Song but with a D, also Dong is her individual name, but to fit in more with other Korean names her stage name combines her family and individual names. Shes chinese.) Yoo-hyeon (Yoo, You, something like that, then hyeon has the h sound at the front) Si-Yeon ("she" "yeon", she's the main vocalist. I think her eyes are her most notable facial feature. People tend to say she and SuA look alike. ) JiU (Jee, and then some people say "yoo" and some people say "oo", not sure if one is more correct. She's the oldest and the "leader". Also, JiU, Yoohyeon, and Handong are sometimes easy to confuse. In BEcause era styling, at least one of their moms got Yoo and Dong confused lol)

They can put anyone to rap if they want tbh. 14:37 That's JiU hehe, Yoohyeon and JiU are also lead vocalist, and many of us also consider SuA a lead vocalist even tho is not her official position. Dreamcatcher in general has some great vocal abilities, just wait till you listen to the songs where even Dami sings. Btw, don't worry too much if you don't get the meaning of the MVs, most of us learnt it by reading other people or searching in google, even Dreamcatcher members said that sometimes is hard for them to understand the storyline.
The 1st rapper in good night was Sua, with Dami coming in for the 2nd part. As this was only their second release as Dreamcatcher, they had not quite settled into the roles that they have now; Dami also has a wide vocal range so she can choose to rap in her high or low voice depending on the song, although she mostly uses her lower range in most title tracks.

Note, lead vs main (you probably already know this): A "Main" is considered to be the best in the group. There's only one main in each position. Here in the west we'd refer to them as the lead. "Lead" is the second level. There can be more than one lead. It goes like this; Main (i.e. main vocalist) -> Lead (i.e. Lead vocalist) -> position (vocalist) -> sub (sub-vocalist). Minx = Meenks You were right. Fly High is the prequel to Chase Me and Good Night. It shows how and why the members were cursed. As you said, for the most part it's pretty bright and poppy, but it periodically has some dark moments and undertones. This is meant to portray their transition from innocent boarding school girls to cursed Nightmares. *= The basic rule of thumb with Korean is that an S followed by either an I or Y is pronounced 'She', like in Siyeon's (She-yawn) name. If it's followed by any other vowel it's treated like a normal S, like in SuA's (Soo-ah) name. ** = While SuA started as one of the rappers with Dami but she stepped away from rapping after Good Night. It wasn't until Vision that we had a chance to see rapper SuA again.
dreamcatcher \:D/ not dreamcater, so maybe fix it if you want any views because the only people who will see this will be your subs :D yes fly high is the prequel to chase me/good night. the visual/audio contrast is suppose to represent the conflict between good/evil within oneself but also to foreshadow the darkness looming in the plot line. I don't want to get into the plot too much because it will just end up being an essay but essential theme of the nightmare series is to be yourself and not sell yourself short despite whatever 'nightmare' situations life throws at you. the nightmare series is also mostly implementing rock and classical instrumentation. each of their series/trilogies will tend to follow a similar musical theme. the dystopia trilogy uses a lot more electronic while the apocalypse trilogy more industrial instrumentation. that said, their b-sides touch all genres so you might like those more if you are not that into rock as much. some good non-ballad b-sides with 'special clip' videos you can check out are: wonderland july 7th and there was no one left sleep walking red sun sahara fairytale demian shatter poison love
