It's different for me...I like Rose Blue's instrumental more than the vocals. I think the vocals kinda overshadowed the production. It actually has that same ”epic” sound of Deja Vu in my opinion

Deja Vu has been a Dreamcatcher agent to collect new InSomnia. Like a really worthwhile investment by them

In terms of title tracks, "Breaking Out" is the most Dami has EVER been utilized. She comes in several times aside from her main rap part. It's amazing. Lol As for b-sides, "Black or White" and "Propose" might be the longest Dami's longest. NOW THERE'S A VERY SPECIAL SONG called "Reason" that by far has the most Dami rapping by far. It has THREE Dami rap sections. Two of them are shared with the other rappers and one she has alone. Also, "BEcause" is not related to "R.o.S.e Blue" in any way. The mv was inspired by the movie US 😊

You should probably check out Dreamcatcher's guide (2021/2022 version by Dreamworld recommended). It'll do a good job showcasing their personalities, strengths and snippets of their B sides. It'll also give you something to look forward to if you happen to get a glimpse of something you like. You seem to really like their vocals and many B sides are alternate genre's (jazz, pop etc). It'll also be a good "pause" from their main MV's while still checking out their content. BEcause is about obsessive love to the point where they're suffocating their lovers. Sometimes literally. ("your face is blue like an ocean view") Another fun fact is that this video was heavily inspired by the horror movie "Us" which is exactly what Dreamcatcher would do. While other groups came out with summer love songs, Dreamcatcher released a horror MV BEcause why not ?

Dami is very versatile! She has a longer rap line in their excellent B-side "Black or White", which gives a heavy nod to MJ. Dami also wrote the lyrics to her solo "Once Upon A time", which is all rap (CC is very helpful to understand the story).

Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu. "R.o.S.E Blue" is a game collaboration with the Korean mobile game "Girl, Café, Gun". It was written by the game's music producer Esti, who is a Dreamcatcher fan. That's why it sounds a bit different. JiU enters the crystal and frees the members by shooting them with her gun. Unfortunately, she used up all the bullets on the members and has none left for herself, so she sacrificed herself for the members. That's our leader for you. 😭😭 In BEcause, Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's backing vocals is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.

Some additional context for the songs. Deja vu is a collaboration with the mobile game Kings Raid. Its started off as a single but they loved it so much they ended up making a full comeback out of it with the EP Raid of Dream. They've done a few cross promotion things with kings raid and the kings raid YT channel has some awesome animatics for a few DC bsides R.o.S.E. Blue was a single released as a collaboration with the mobile game Girl, Cafe, Gun. I believe this was a different production team. Lots of people love the song but it definitely feels more like a "game" song. BEcause was released as the title track for the Special Mini-Album Summer Holiday. The song is about obsessive love and the MV takes heavy inspiration from the Jordan Peele psychological horror flick Us. They really are phenomenal vocalists. When you start doing bsides and covers youll get more opportunities to see their vocals shine. Youll also find some longer Dami raps and Dami vocals as well. Despite Dami's deeper voice she has the second highest range in the group behind Sua. Also, comeback prep has started so the follow up to OOTD should be in the next month or so.

I didn`t like Rose Blue that much too, but I fell in love with it after hearing acoustic version (Crossroads consert). Acoustic Rose Blue is just... perfection to me. And it features Handong too (she was stuck in China due to covid restrictions and didn`t participate in original release)

Deja Vu is considered by many to be Dreamcatcher's masterpiece. That's not to say that DC doesn't have any songs that are as good, or better. It's just that everything seemed to come together perfectly for Deja Vu. It's a pretty safe bet that most InSomnias have this song in their top 10 list, if not their top 5. Leez and Oullander were the primary writers and producers for Dreamcatcher's song starting with the Prequel (Fly High) album. And, yes, they also produced songs for Ateez. They continued to write and produce for Dreamcatcher all the way up to the Apocalypse: Follow Us (Vision) album, after which Leez left to pursue other projects. Oullander continues to produce songs for Dreamcatcher with the help of various other writers, producers etc from other agencies. It will be interesting to see what direction they take Dreamcatcher's music in. While it was still a DC song at it's core, OOTD was definitely a departure from their 'usual' stuff. Rose Blue feels a little off because it was not written, produced and composed by the usual suspects, Leez and Oullander. I assume the game company brought in their own team, but like I said, that's just an assumption. It's still a good song but it's not up to Dreamcatcher's usual standards (IMO). As of yet, Dreamcatcher and Ateez have not had a crossover.

dreamcatcher \:D/ rose blue instrumentals are awesome! the bass line in that combined with the orchestral elements 👍 but that's the thing with dreamcatcher, they always switch it up so there will be a song for everyone, and some songs you can't relate to. the plot for rose blue is also fun, jiu(with gun) enters into a dream like world to free the other members - shooting them wakes them up, but she didn't have enough bullets to shoot herself so she got stuck as the members noticed at the end when they woke up. there's a lot to say about because as well but that would take an essay so I'll spare you lol. ateez shares the same producers as dreamcatcher, but dreamcatcher doesn't share the same producers as ateez, until the past two comebacks. there style is completely different if you ask me, other than the obvious rock implementation. their lore, themes, and plot lines are also different. one central recurring theme in dreamcatcher's discography is about self reflection - to be yourself even as everyone else tries to mold you differently. that's why you see a lot of duplicates and mirrors throughout many of their mvs. that's the simplified version - the long version requires an essay :D siyeon is also incredible and if you hear background adlibs, it's likely her especially for the higher belts. imo kpop has gone away from vocal centric and a lot more about visuals and performance aspects. that's why some groups get a lot of heat about lipsyncing and not being able to hold a note during raw singing. most of the 'live' stuff you hear in kpop nowadays is heavily altered with pitch correction to heavy autotune - yes that includes it's live and dingo killing voice. for dreamcatcher, you will get to hear real raw vocals and there are few singers I've heard that sound exactly live as studio - siyeon :D since you like deja vu so much, maybe try a live band version. other than a slight reverb on the input mics, it's raw and unedited vocals: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AGFDNVfM0C4.html

This version of Rose Blue is the only one out there with English subs ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FJCYYcVMzwo.html Deja Vu and Rose Blue were both made to promote video games. Rose Blue was composed by an outside composer who creates music for anime games, which is why it sounds different.
