The fly stitch is a beginner stitch and is great for embroidering leaves and seems for flowers. You can use them for thicker borders or letters, too.
In other languages, the fly stitch is called: DE Fliegenstich, Zweigstich - FR point fongère - ES punto de espina - PR ponto de mosca
