Ben, you are the man. I was a bit disappointed when I first started my drone life only months ago and struggled with zones, and then I bought the Mavic Air 2. I live near an airport and I just used your video to unlock my Auth. Zone. Awesome. Tonight I'll take a nice little flight to see all the Christmas lights in my neighborhood. I was the guy who mentioned the OS downgrade, but this is good. Thank you Ben very much..

I normally use the DJI or Kittyhawk app after my mini does it’s preflight check. Takes like 2 minutes. This is great for taking care of the request in advance. Thank you!

Brand new to drones. This was my first “Unauthorized” area encountered. A definite pain to go through all this… not something I would have figured out on my own. I am now keeping my flight controller serial number handy. Thanks

I had this issue and your video helped me. Thank you. And I just figured out I can also make these request via my DJI RC PRO controller as long as I have it connected via Wi-Fi which I use my hotspot for. I was able to request and get authorization and fly within minutes.

Good info Ben, I also had the same problem and so many times was unable to fly in certain areas. But your right its not as hard as I thought it would be to set up. Like # 362!!!!

great new video gona try this as I m trying to take off in the outer zone on the beach where its far away from airport. does this code just unlock for a single flight or must you do this every time you go record there

just wish I had known ahead of time that I'd be in an area that I'd be unable to take off in. Now, I know I can check that map and it will let me know in advance so I can request it ahead of time. super helpful. my old mavic pro (which I still have) never kept me from taking off in these areas so I never had to worry about it. that's always the problem with new technology, they put new "safety" features which really just means restrictions on there to can be super annoying.

Thanks you so much!! I live approximately 2 miles "as the crow flies" from John Glenn International Airport. In the last 2 years, I know of 3 times that the No Fly Zone has changed. Just this past spring 2020, I had no problem flying around my neighborhood. The first snow of the season happened early last week. I got my Mavic 2 Pro all updated, batteries charged, landing pad ready and went outside to take off - unable to go anywhere. I took everything back into the house and got on the DJI FlySafe page (I have it bookmarked) and there it was - our home was just inside the Blue Authorization Zone. I am a register DJI customer and have my FAA ID. So, I will try your suggestion and see what happens. I will let ya know - Thanks, Charlie

Thanks for the video. I live in Tahlequah and work in McAlester every once in a while. I have had a couple DJI drones and switched to Autel because they don't have geo fencing. Wish DJI made it easier to drop the geo fencing.

This is awesome! I even saw they still support my Spark. I would have loved this ability when I was in Sioux Falls SD at the Falls Park. I just wanted to fly fairly low and get some footage of the falls. It happens to be just like your example and in the area of a small local airfield and therefore I was blocked. So, good to know for the future. I'll be able to contact the site I need the OK from, let them know I only intend to go xxx high and then I'll be able to unlock that area for the given time needed. Thank you for help but I got all the way to start up and entered the number they sent back saying it was OK but I am using DJI GO with a P3A and I do not see the last import screen., The annoying yes Purple writing box turns into DJI use endless ten mile long contract and when you try to close it it goes back to yes box. How can you help please

On the unlocking request there is an altitude request option. Just curious, how high is a reasonable request past the 400 foot limit? I was hoping for way more than 400. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this information. It was very helpful however you did say you asked permission. Who did you ask permission to? unlocking this thing can be easy but it doesn't explain who do you need to call to "ask permision". How can I find out if once I get the unlocked on the drone is there a restriction on height and distance to fly in these areas? Where do I get that information?

YOU CAN DO IT FROM A SMARTPHONE! JUST SELECT 'DESKTOP MODE' IN THE BROWSER SETTINGS AND TRICK THE DJI SITE INTO THINKING YOU'RE ON PC/LAPTOP .

All though i'm very frustrated with DJI locking down my Mavic Pro 2 with aggressive geofencing...I get why and thank you for making time to share this video. There are other drone options now with very comparable features in camera tech and ability that have zero geofencing.

First of all Ben your videos are always so helpful and educational very appreciated. I have a question: I just got as a Christmas present a mavic air 2, I haven’t register and don’t have license. I just want to fly at the park close home but it says I’m in a low altitude restricted area and that i need to get LAANC. If submit the authorization will I get it or my drone need to be registered ?

Thanks! I ran into this problem yesterday. I always submit my flights via the AIRMAP app, and didn't get any restrictions on my flight from them. But when I took off DJI blocked the drone from advancing into a warning zone. It was weird...I took off in a clear zone, and once I hit the warning zone, the drone just stopped like it hit an invisible wall.

Trying to set up my DJI account and while filling out the background certification the SMS never gets sent to my phone number. Not sure what to do now. Contacted DJI but heard nothing back yet. I live in an Altitude Zone so I'm assuming I will need to be able to use fly-safe to fly around my home, but can't without being able to verify my number! Frustrating...
