Another awesome video. As a non pilot who realised early on that RNAV wasn't supported in the FBW, I used this method when planning the very complicated easterly approach into Innsbruck. It works great but I'd no idea my workaround was used in real world flying. Thanks for another great tutorial.

Great video, looking forward to seeing PMDG 777 content as soon it comes. BTW, the video description still says that you have 3080ti, not the 4090, outdated a bit, I suppose.

Another great video! Thanks! I skipped FWB A320 so far since I did not think it is realistic, but now I am definitely intrigued 😀. I am curious how it will compare to iniBuilds A320, I am looking forward to that one too. It may be even better?

It’s certainly worth a try and it’s free after all! Let’s wait what ini will release when the time has finally come. Then we can make a fair comparison (after a few updates).

Very interesting. Learned something new today. Thanks. I can see you land with Flaps 3. I have often been wondering when, and how you decide when to use flap 3 / airbus - and flap 40 in the Boeing and also the autobrake. When to you chose one over the other. I know why, - but how do you decide? Or is the decision made for you by the company?

captain excellent explanation only one thing in regards to RNAV RNP using LNAV/VNAV when in managed mode and after just passing top of descent {TOD} can we straight away put the final approach fix altitude in the fcu instead or do we have to put in step by step descent but why why would you do that because when in managed mode the fmc is calculating descent so what is the point of changing the altitude every time on the fcu let me know what is right ??thanks captain
@A330Driver
@A330Driver 4 месяца назад
Hi, this is a bit of an academic question since in the real world you would always put your cleared altitude from ATC in the FCU. In the sim - with no ATC - you could simply set the FAF altitude.

Wieder ein tolles Video, danke! You mention final approach mode at the start of the video - in Airbus, do you usually select the APPR button when flying an RNAV approach (except for 2D approaches)? I'm mostly familiar with 73s and so only select approach mode when flying an ILS (LNAV and VNAV in RNPs), and so thought it would be the same in Airbus.
@Deyan_B_Travels
@Deyan_B_Travels 8 месяцев назад
I had problems with RNAV approaches in FBW A320N. I couldn't follow LNAV since the path had a turn between the FAF and the runway. The last time it happened at Porto.

Hello, very informative stream - it looks so easy. All that's left for me is to practice, practice and practice. One important question: I saw from your specs that you're running an i9-9900K CPU with an RTX 4090. What are your experiences with it? I want to replace my RTX 2080 Ti graphics card with an RTX 4090 like you have. Specialists have advised me against it because all the other components, such as my i9-9900K, MB MSI Z390 and 750W power supply, slow down the graphics card. The performance would be roughly halved. I would be very grateful for an answer.

Let's just assume, the glidepath angle is not published on the chart (which is never gonna happen). How would you've determined the required FPA for the approach with minimum calculation? Any rule of thumb?
@pong_sim
@pong_sim 8 месяцев назад
Even if the glidepath isnt published you should have the speed / vertical speed table for the approach which is also used for briefing such as landing with more than 1000 fpm
@A330Driver
@A330Driver 8 месяцев назад
As you mentioned, there would never be an NPA where there’s no such information. Thus there is no rule of thumb either. You could of course start calculating and doing maths. But in that moment you don’t fly anything published anymore anyway, so you might as well just do a visual or request a different approach.
@pong_sim
@pong_sim 8 месяцев назад
@@A330Driver You could also try messing with the FPM knob to see how much you need to descend to 100 feet around runway right? At least on the sim
@A330Driver
@A330Driver 8 месяцев назад
@@pong_simIn the sim, yes. You’d never do something like that in the real world. If you don’t have the info necessary to fly an approach then you simply won’t fly it.

Is there other way to do an non-precission approach or RNAV approach on an a320 without using the FPA degree mode approach, besides a visual approach?

@A330Driver
@A330Driver 8 месяцев назад
Thanks! Yes, you could do the same with VS in the 737, however that’s not really something ever done. In my 5 years on the 737 I never once had to do such an approach, only in one or two recurrent sims we practiced such an approach. On the Airbus however we practice them in each sim and in six months on the line I did several 2D approaches already. VNAV simply is too reliable in the 737 to make such VS NPAs worth it.
