This is one of my favorite planes in the game. It can’t really defend itself against a plane its own size, but if you can hit several pillboxes and tanks before the enemy finds you… I’ve finished several matches with the high score for my team, and It pays very well!

That's some great war footage at the beginning there. I used to complain that War Thunder was a bit arcadey, but after seeing the HUD show up in the footage with the Target Destroyed message and everything, I now see Gaijin went out of their way to make the most realistic experience possible.

I've read reports indicating that the disharmony of the guns firing threw off aim. The nose would swerve left then right then left, as the guns fired in slightly askew rhythm. That's a big reason the dual 37mm armament was dropped. I wonder about the recoil. Other high power weapons, such as the B25's 75mm and Hs129's 30mm Mk103 were notorious for springing rivets and warping out of harmony when fired. Imagine the effects on the firing plane of the German 5cm and, especially, the 7.5cm BK. I don't doubt they (large bore high velocity cannon) sap momentum energy from the firing plane, too. Nose droops and you're in the mud like a lawn dart.

That wings of Russia reminds me of the history channels coverage of the eastern war, with the series Soviet Storm WW2 in the East. Used to love watching that series as a little kid along with the dogfights series at 5am in the morning (UK here).

I wouldn't say the IL-2 didn't like cannon rounds, was routinely shown that it took upwards of a 40mm cannon round to take the plane down!

Il-2 is really great, but without upgrades it moves like truck with wings. I think it is my favourite plane in russian tech tree.

Day 99: Play the I-185 (M-82) for CAS. It is WAAAAAY underrated (3x20mm with powerful AP + bombs/rockets)

A programme think you'd like is called Britain, when jet ruled the skies. There's two episodes one of them is commercial jets and other is military its a very good programme and recommend also another documentary is night bombers which follows an actual bomb crew going on a raid and all the briefings and stuff really really good nice vid BTW thanks

It says PhlyDaddy across the top in 1940s era advertising font with a period correct illustration of you holding Fairchild around his waist with his arms out like a plane. Like someone took a snapshot of you “flying him around like an airplane” 😂 I could make the picture so you can get an idea of what I’m talking about. Then have whoever does the artwork for your merch make it the want you want. Also the IL-2 is the sexiest looking prop driven ground striker in War Thunder.

TIS MA is the best Russian Plattform for the 37mm toghether with the 2x500 just a dream.

Fw-190 is my favorite other than the P-51. Derp factor applies for the Me-163 though. (as planes, not necessarily in game, but the Fw190s are pretty good)

One top tip when playing the il2 37, dont use WEP at low altitudes, you will go faster actually when you dont use it

the IL-2 at 3.0 is preaty need with the rockets and the bombs, you should try it out
