Flying Nitro After 15 Years! 

I have found there is a bit of a 'revival' of these sort of models. Nitro / Gas is allot of fun - and appeals to many modellers. Many 'new' flyers are so 'FPV' focused that the basics and pure fun of them are forgotten.

0:12 WHOA! My last Futaba radio that was my daily driver back in the early 2000's I still have it in my closet along with there Futaba transmatter carry case.

Great sea guys still flying nitro Here in the states many of us still fly Nitro including the old glow powered ducted fan And we still have a ball 😊 Regardless of fuel cost at $31 a gallon We'll never give up our Nitro 😊Thanks for sharing mates

A nice flashback, including a bit of an adrenaline rush with the dead stick challenge! I could not afford to do nitro RC, but managed to try my hand at nitro control line flying. Brushless motors have made the hobby more more approachable.

Best radio ever made. Still the favorite radio I’ve ever owned. Programmable switches, only drawback was I had too many planes so I had to buy the campac. I did watch a club member stick the radio into the prop using the Tach lol

at 31.00 dollars a gallon ill never ever go back to glow after 35 years in this hobby. i stopped buying YS20/20 fuel 5 years ago due to the high cost. sold all glow models. what i could not sell i flew into the ground.

Nothing better than the old school flying! The new electric stuff I fly a lot but I still love to fly with gas and glow too!

This was wonderful to watch. I'm flying model aeroplanes since 1986. My first radio was a Futaba Challenger. My first plane was a Yamamoto 40 trainer with OS 40 two stroke. My next radio was a Futaba Skysport. That was in the 1990s. In 1998 I bought a Kyosho Trainer 40 arf, the same plane you have in this video only mine was a pinky colour. I had an OS 46 la two stroke and all my servos were Futaba 148. It was a good flying plane. . Wind the clock forward to the year 2000 and I bought a Futaba 9c super. Four years later I bought the 2.4 ghz fasst module for it and here now in 2024 I am still flying my planes with that same transmitter. Many thanks for sharing this video. I'm 60 now and still enjoy the hobby as much as ever. Most of my planes have glow engines, I have two or three electrics as well but glow is still my favourite. This video brought back a lot of nice memories. Full credit to the cameraman for filming it so well. Full credit to the pilot for flying the plane superbly and also I enjoyed the commentary between the both of you. It made it all so interesting and enjoyable.

Those were the $1500 amaze machines viewed through the glass at the hobbyshop in the 1980's and 1990's . I didnt know about the rpm settings and the auto dimmer I have a budget one with a long telescoping antenna with a ribbon on it . And 2 " gas" engines .

Nice, brings back memories. Early 70's. Balsa and monokote ugly stik. 60" wing span. super Tiger 60 nitro engine. Kraft 4 channel radio. Those were the days.

Wish RU-vid could relay the smell of burnt castor oil. Missing it so much. BTW, the 'big ones' do have mixture control. But they have exhaust gas temperature readouts as well, so they don't have to tune it by ear!

ah mate that takes me back to my first plane - Hiboy trainer with os 40 - looks pretty much the same plane and yep my radio gear was the cash killer, cost way more than plane and engine

Proper job! Easily fly for 20 minutes or more, if you tank it up right. Much easier to fly when you can hear that lovely 2 stroke. Yours is running realy rich, almost 4 stroking when your cruising.

Awesome

Never run up a 2 stroke engine while you are directly in front of the prop. Always start the engine, Move behind the plane to do your runup, needle valve adjust and so on. Though it is rare, these things can shed propeller blades and you do Not want to be in line (to the side of) or in front of them should this happen.

My dad used to fly nitro nearly 30 years ago. He nearly lost some fingers! 😂. God these look dangerous compared to today's electric planes and quads
