RV's are awesome. I'd probably own an RV-7 (Yes, of course a tail-wheel) only because it has the option of side-by-side seating and a slider canopy. (I don't think the 8 has those options.) It would be a blast to own.

MrAviation101 Yeah, I can't decide between side by side or tandem seating... It's a tough one - pros and cons for both. I figure I've got a few hundred more hours to log in many types before I make a decision :)

I think I would mainly want a side-by-side so I can easily keep an eye on my passenger, let them fly and easily talk them through the different parts of the cockpit, and just be able to have a face to face conversation. I think the tandem would eventually start to bug me. Not to mention I want to see their face when I roll it :)

MrAviation101 Yeah - I'm all about flying with passengers and sharing the experience... I'd never want a single seater... and tandem is sort of a merger of flying alone with a passenger :P The big advantage of tandem IMO is the symmetry and over all immersive experience for precision flying such as aerobatics... Maybe I just need 2 airplanes... The other one would have a massive useful load and be on floats :)

Seems like a very nice and informative guy. I would like to hear more on his logic of fixed vs constant speed props. every complex aircraft I have flown the main benefit of the constant speed prop was to reduce drag and increase propeller efficiency at high Airspeeds, thus increasing cruising speed. great video none the less

Same here, I'd also be interested in hearing the explanation. Constant speed usually gives the best of both climb and cruise.. what he described sounded as if it was a climb prop config. Only thing that comes to mind is he is referring to the electric constant speed props on the market. My guess in such a case would be the 'cruise' setting is not as coarse of a pitch as dedicated cruise props for the RV-7. Just a guess though

Awesome ride in a very nice aircraft. Thanks! Hah. 2000+ fpm initial climb rate? With passenger, my MS880 is happy to climb at 300 fpm. Solo on a cold day it's about 600. But it also has a sliding canopy! :) So I look cool in the summer, and I only fully close it for takeoff.

That looks like great fun! You were wings level pretty quick there. Have you done a lot of stick flying? How different is it from yoke piloting? I've never had the chance to do stick and don't know if I'll ever get the opportunity.

Adhesive mount for the GoPro. Be sure you have permission from the owner to mount it on (Since it's permanent) and get a certified A&P Mechanic to inspect it and make sure it's safe.

Oh that's inside the glass - chuck mentions it at one point. It's a fold-out sun shade to use during flight.

endwood i had never heard of this before... I’ve always heard a fixed pitch is slower and really only designed for a specific altitude and speed.
